@Michiyo I agree with you 100% on this topic. I'm really frustrated at the confusion of simple math by so many people in our current unit. It's just balancing equations and you're given the element numbers and mass. I can understand not understanding it and going to the teacher for clarification, but nobody's doing it! I just don't understand why they don't take action and ask for the help they need. And now we're calculating things with how electrons go in orbitals and they still don't understand. This is why 2 lanes, Honors and normal are not enough. There needs to be the middle ground where those of us that want to learn more chemistry, but not fear honors, can go

Urgh, reminds me of my 7th grade science class in Texas (no offense to ya'll in Texas). I was THE smartest kid in the class. My best friend in the class was someone who was still stuck in elementary school days. He was real smart. We were both made fun of and called nerds by everyone in the class. Half the class was less intelligent than a rock. They WOULD, however, always ask for answers. Lordy Lordy I'm glad I got away from that place.

Back when I was applying for a higher level math back in even 6th grade, everyone asked for the answers on my test. That math class is how I got to my current standing in the subject... And it's really difficult.

Had those guys cheated on me back then, they wouldn't have survived.

Also, hated 8th grade English. Everyone would always ask me for answers to questions to stories that we had READ ALOUD in class. Actually... Wasn't that every class 8th grade year? Since they did away with every honors class in 8th grade aside from the math? Yeah. I always got stuck in the class where everyone wanted my answers.

Being called a nerd is the greatest compliment I've ever received. I never actually felt insulted when someone called me a nerd (although I think geek is the more proper term for myself). In my high school, we had a group of about 15 nerds that went to advanced classes and worked hard. Most of us hung out together, had drama club together, ate lunch together. In a school of only 400 people, a group of 15 is actually rather large. We were nearly a fifth of our class, and most of us were actually more popular than the "cool" kids who only had about five in their cliques.

Take that, high school sociopolitics.
