That does not count as a rant... It's inspirational. Ranting is essentially venting your problems, but... Personally I like to discuss, try to help them feel better. If they specify they don't wish to talk anymore about it, so be it. They can also choose to ignore me, or read what I post silently. It's not really a big deal.

@Gaia: Racism comes in many forms... even if you're saying something positive about a race, if you believe it applies to everyone or your statement infers such, it's racism. Things like saying "Asian people are smart," or "Blacks are good at sports" are racist, even if the comment itself is positive or a compliment.

I think it's terrible that middle-aged white males have a much higher chance of financial success than any other demographic. I think it's terrible that my parents would not allow me to work alongside Mexican migrant workers (they said that the Mexicans basically would only spout profanities, if they ever spoke in English). I think it's terrible that my father has never and will never consider hiring anyone who wasn't white. I think it's terrible that my family looks down on my sister's Egyptian husband solely because he isn't white. I think it's terrible that my grandmother still calls a part of her home town N----r Point. I think it's terrible that my parents would constantly make fun of transfer students from South Korea, particularly the shape of their eyes and their trouble with the letters L and R.

Racism is part of one of the worst things in the world. It's ignorance and hatred, even in its simplest forms. Ignorance and hatred are the cause of all the world's problems, in my opinion.

So, as much as I hate to admit it, my dad kind of really sucks. The shitty situation I'm in now (not being able to go to college or get a job) is largely his fault. I'm sick of the BS excuses he's given for the past five years about not helping me or my mom, even though she was nice enough to keep things out of court when they split. Now she and my stepdad are forced to do everything, including trying to take care of things that should have been done a long time ago (and would have been easier to do a long time ago) had it not been for my dad. I'm pretty sure that makes no sense, but whatever.

On a less serious note, acid reflux is annoying. It needs to stop being so acid-refluxy because I don't like it. Go away acid reflux. I don't want to deal with you everyday.

I want to just run into the streets and yell that Mitt Romney is going to make everything worse. That all the people who believe in him are terribly misguided. I want to violently beat into them my own ideals that I believe are correct. I want to horribly Maime a certain person who WILL NOT defend his point at all on the election. Most all republican-sided people I have met tend to be kinda jerks.

Nope, not gonna train people anymore. That costs money. So instead, we'll let the newbies fumble around a bit, then fire them cause they couldn't figure it out. The not hire anyone new cause we'd have to train them, and they'll just fail anyways. So let's only hire 50 year old veterans who will retire in 10 years, whereas the college grads get to live in poverty.

Okay, voting and stuff... My arguments.

I'll admit, I was raised to vote. I've heard the arguements that if you don't vote, you don't get a right to complain, yadda yadda yadda....

Recently, I've come to the following realization: it's total bullshit.

First of all, if you vote, there is NO chance your vote means more than a blip if you vote independent. Unless you get a movement going where you can get more than a region to go your way, your vote means nothing. Zilch. Nada. The time you invested in going to the voting booth was an endorsement for an ant in a land of giants, and maybe a protest against the system on the whole. That's all it is. It does the country no good unless there is a legitimate chance of that candidate winning, and to be honest, the ONLY reason I'd vote independent is a protest against the system as a whole. There are some better candidates there, but the vote is meaningless. The country doesn't care. Hell, the favored candidate probably calls it a win for themselves since I didn't vote against them.

As a consumer, this is a stupid deal. I'm making an investment (my time) for something that means such an insignificant amount on the whole, that it's totally wasteful. It does no good for anybody. There are better investments for that time. I can do homework, increasing my personal abilities. I can volunteer in the community, helping my community in a meaningful way. I can work that hour, making 15 dollars to spend on a game in the future. Hell, I can watch an episode of South Park, which increases the entertainment value of that time exponentially. Sure, I lose the purchasing power to trade that half hour or hour or whatever it takes to vote for a vote. But the value of that vote is so insignificant as to be meaningless.

Okay, civic duty argument. Let me ask you this: let's imagine that Sony and Microsoft are the only two people making major game consoles in the next generation. Microsoft has a new Kinect driven interface that as a gamer, I despise. It's buggy, barely works, and even when it does, the applications are limited to very casual games. And Sony shuts down my favorite developers and begins focusing solely on FPS, to the extent that there ARE no other games approved for that console. I have enough money for one console. Which do I buy?

As a consumer, I would be mad at the direction both companies have pushed the game console war. I do not want to support either of them. Therefore, as a consumer, it would be my right to put that money towards, say a concert for Avicii or something. And that example is completely agreeable to most people. However, I'm a person that loves video games, and really want them to continue to do well in the future. How is that different than voting? Unlike in presidential elections, I'm voting with my wallet, not my time, which is, some would argue, even more valuable, unless the time spent in voting is enough to make more money than I spend on a console. However, despite my "moral obligation" as a gamer, purchasing either console is tantamount to saying that "well, I hate both of you, but I'm a gamer, so I'll buy this, since I'm a gamer." And NOBODY would be mad at me for not buying that console. Why do people think voting is different? At the end of the day, the personal utility gained from me voting is zero. The utility for the country from me voting is zero. Why do I need to waste my time? So that I have a right to complain?

Oh, and let's add the kicker. Say I decide to vote for Obama.

Sorry, I hate that argument. It's absolutely stupid, and you know what, a non vote is no different than a vote here anyway. No matter who I vote for, Romney will win Texas. Blah blah this, blah blah that. I'm not going to make a 45 minute bet that Obama wins Texas, even if that bet increases the chances of him winning here. I don't know what those odds are, but they're surely so small as to be insignificant.

Don't get me wrong, I probably will still vote. I'll hate myself for it. I'll probably vote for Obama, since I feel he'd do a better job than Romney. But don't judge me if I don't vote, and I sure as hell can be mad if I don't vote and politics don't change.

Edit: I realize this is a horribly pessimistic view. It's also a horribly realist view of the election process as it already is.

The soul of a forgotten file
This whole crap about sexuality is really starting to get on my nerves. As far as I've seen, people don't pay much attention to a girl's sexuality; they only care if your a guy. And then they gotta use the word gay as if it's an insult, which pisses me off every time I hear it. I'm tired of the gays always getting singled out, what's so horrible about it? If they feel that way, it's by no means a good reason to pick on them.

What irritates me the most about this sort thing is the religious take on it. Whenever someone brings up that, "Oh, God doesn't approve of gays because..." I just wanna punch them in the face. Humans were given freewill for a reason. We have the right to make our own desicions. I don't mind if they don't agree with one's desicion, but at least accept it and not see it as some overly bad sin you must atone for.

For example, I happen to have a lesbian cousin, and while the rest my family doesn't approve of it, we still accept that's the route she's decided to take and don't hate her for it. But of course my parents my still gotta bring it back to the whole "God doesn't approve" thing, so it's not that good of an example; but I digress. That is why I support gay marriage and why the rest my family doesn't. Because they're fucking idiots.
