Looks interesting... I like the design for 3D combat a lot more than the old Pokemon Stadium model, but that's to be expected... Thank god they went Cell Shaded... that should look relatively nice on the 3DS... Wish they didn't go so deformed in the overworld, but I guess it can't be helped...

Whether I'll buy it or not... I dunno... I'm still not a fan of how bloated the current Pokemon roster is.... Granted, it's well past the point of no return, but I'd hoped that Gen VI would try for more of a "Greatest Hits" feel, where they didn't add many, if any Pokemon... I've also always wanted a Pokemon game where you could choose Eevee as a starter since Pokemon Yellow, but no luck yet again...

Let's become someone else. Perhaps with more depth of character.
Looking at the video again, it looks like there is a high chance that the starters latter forms may be grass/dark, fire/psychic, and water/fighting, based on the other moves they use.

Chespin seemed to use Solar Beam and Night Slash, rather easy to point out.
Fennekin seemed to use either Ember or Flamethrower, followed by Psychic or Confusion.
Froakie is the harder one to pin down, the first move was probably Water Gun. The second is much harder to pinpoint, but my guess would be Close Combat.

I wasn't alone in suspecting this, huh? If Chespin does indeed turn out to be a Grass/Dark type, seeing as I was already interested in it, that would seal the deal right there. The Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic and Water/Fighting combination also allows for what Gen IV almost pulled off, in that regardless of your starter, the secondary typing allows you to attack either end of the triangle. This is something I've been looking forward to for a long time and makes me all the more excited about the new generation of Pokémon.

Now that is a really interesting theory. I hope it holds water.

The main problem I see with that is that, unless things have changed since the second generation, which is the last one I knew really, really well, aren't Fire, Psychic and Water usually the most powerful of those sets attack wise, with Fighting being a 4th, and Grass and Dark being a distant fifth and sixth?

Doesn't that mean that they're putting the two weaker of the abilities in one pokemon?

Again, this is speculation from my knowledge of previous gens, but usually, the heavier hitters have traditionally been fire, water or psychic...

You could say, that it holds Water/Fighting...

I actually think Froakie will be a defensive Pokemon, which Water types are usually known for being bulky walls. (Fighting giving it weakness to Flying and Psychic but resistances to Rock, Bug and Dark. Rock being a popular offensive typing despite what the game tells you.) I still have very high hopes for Fennekin.
