Divine Punishment!

Welcome everyone! I come to you with the beginning of a new .hack fanfic! I have great plans for this series, so stay tuned! I'd also like opinions on it, as well as suggestions. (I'd especially like Naka to reply, considering that some of his knowledge of the game helped me.) I do not have a set update schedule, so bear with me. Well, without further ado, I present to you... .Hack//Reconfigured Vol 1: Reactivation One year after the events of .hack Returner... Prologue- The Second Coming of Chaos "The World" had entered a new golden age. Due to the acts of the Infinity Eight and their friends, the game was free of any abnormalities. More and more people joined the game because of this, and many more features were added due to demand and the fresh flow of currency from all the new subscribers. The CC Corp Executives couldn't have been happier. But greed and pride once again got the best of them. In their arrogance, fear, and ignorance for the will of "The World" itself, they set into motion a plan that would remove the one possible threat to the stability of the game. The Infinity Eight themselves. Because of the protection of Aura, The Goddess of Dawn and true ruler of “The World”, the accounts of the eight “Chosen Ones” could not be deleted. But not from permanent suspension of their characters. This was a mistake. For a month, all was normal. Then, the epitaphs lying dormant within the unused PCs grew restless. They left the shells of the characters that they were held in for so long, and found their way into the sea of data that was “The World’s” code, and eventually the core of the game itself. It was there that after being apart for so long, they started to merge with each other. One by one as they merged, the core of the game began to shudder and pulse. Something that was there all along began to awaken. The one thing that even Aura hoped would never resurface. Morganna Mode Gone… As the sentient program awoke, it gained the experience and memories of all of its parts. It realized that its “daughter” was still in the game, and within nanoseconds formulated a plan to take back control. For a week, it waited. Learning of the new system it was in, only exerting subtle amounts of control. Causing game crashes, server knock outs, and other minor problems with the game. But at the end of that week, Moganna took action. It took control of some of the monsters in the game, and using the same tricks as the last time it was free, clad them in green hexagonal patches of data, making them all but invulnerable to normal players. The “Data Bugs” were resurrected. After the Data Bugs, it then created its heralds to counter Aura’s Knights, both being former pawns of its. Weeks passed, and rumors spread on the forums of strange versions of monsters that seemingly could not be killed. And of two PCs, both of which would come out of nowhere, kill any and all players in the field, and disappear, leaving no trace. The players dubbed them, The Phantom Spellcaster, and The Blades of Agony. For the Spellcaster had a Harvest Cleric appearance, extremely powerful spells, and could summon a strange Gel-like monster, that seemed to be it’s Guardian. The other, A Twin Blade with extreme speed, and a love of drawing the fight out, torturing it’s foe. Seeing these rumors, many players actively started to search for these strange beings and monsters. Some thought that they were event monsters that had rare and special items and equipment for those who could defeat them. Some were PKs or PKKs who were looking for glory, or who were looking to make a name for themselves. And some who were just curious to see if the rumors were true. All who found them met with the same fate. Comatose. Morganna’s plan was working. As more and more players would become comatose, Aura would have no choice but to manifest and face it. It would then capture Aura and absorb her into itself, thus becoming truly whole, and regaining its place as the deity of “The World” once again. And this time, nothing would stop Morganna. Nothing. However, the actions of Morganna did not go unnoticed. Seeing the past repeat itself, CC Corp took action. Repeating their actions, the CC Corp Execs created a team of debuggers to both eliminate and cover up the recent abnormalities in the system, and used their PR skills to cover up the news of any coma victims from getting out to the news. The debuggers failed miserably. Any who tried to tamper with the infected areas shared with the same fate as the comatose. So they decided to seal off the infected areas, just as before. Fortunately, Aura had also sensed the revival of the of her birth program, and the malice of the actions that Morganna was implementing. She sent her knights out to contain the threats of the Data Bugs, but she knew it would not be enough. She once again had to put her trust in the players of the game. Using the same history that CC Corp had tried to erase the knowledge of her existence to her benefit, she brought to life seven spirits and one goddess of the elements of the game, and sealed them in eight different weapons, and sent them into “The World.” They were as follows: Vulcan the Fire Spirit Merrows the Water Spirit Krake the Wood Spirit Lanceor the Lightning Spirit Yarthkins the Earth Spirit Wynn the Wind Spirit Wyrneck the Darkness Spirit Anu the Star Goddess It was all that she should do at this point. For Aura knew that acting directly would alert Morganna to her presence, and all would be lost. She only hoped that the chosen would know what to do when the time came… And so a new saga in the "The World" would begin. The birth of the new .Hackers. Edited by Crest Holder, Feb 5 2013, 02:03 PM.
