Hello~
The winner is C. Also, exposition.

You read the label that is printed on the bottle. It appeared to be some sort of medicine for Pokémon. Immediately the worst case scenario plays out in your head: You mother drank the medicine that was never meant for human consumption. You quickly place your hand on your mother’s shoulder and shake quickly and anxiously. If she does not wake up in a second, you will call the emergency room for you fear that she may not have much time.

After a few frantic seconds of shaking and calling out, you feel your mother stirring and sitting upright once more. She stretches out her arms and rotating her neck as she let out a great big yawn. She blink her green eyes a few times before standing up and stretch some more. “Geez. How long was I out?” You hear her mumbling

Your mother is dressed in a simple pink sweater and blue jeans. Her dark red hair somehow matches her green eyes. You notice more than a few wrinkles under them as those same green eyes stare at you with curiosity and a hint of annoyance.

“Good morning Blade. Oh. Look at the time. I’m gonna fix breakfast for you soon so please-“ She is quickly interrupted by your question about her activities last night. You raised your arm to show her the Pokémon Medicine that was near her when you found her. Your mother quickly blushes and laughs nervously. “Oh. That? Um, how do I say this? Well. You know your mother being a former Pokémon Nurse right?” You nod as everything clicks together. Your mother, Sera, used to be a Pokémon Nurse. But you are drawing blanks as to why she quit her job and made a move to Pallet town, of all places.

“Well, I was cleaning my room when I found this bottle of Pokémon Medicine.” She sighs. “I remember all of the Pokémon I treated and the faces of happy trainers who saw their Pokemon again. I guess I seem to have been lost in the nostalgic feeling and fell asleep.” Sera crack her knuckles and leaned back before walking into the kitchen. “Anyway, that’s done and over with. I’m gonna fix breakfast so wait in the house, alright?” You hear her say as the door closes.

You need to decide what to do next. You can help your mother with breakfast. But seeing your mother’s fatigued eyes made you feel guilty for not considering her health before jumping to conclusions. You could just tell her to wait at the table and make breakfast yourself. But she might need peace, quiet, and rest so you could go out and eat while your mother sleep in a proper bed. Or you could just follow orders without a care and watch T.V in the living/dining room. After all. Your mother is a strong person whose best years are not behind her.

You think about this carefully…

A –Assist your mother in making breakfast.
B –Tall her to wait and make breakfast yourself.
C –Tell your mother rest is far more important and go out to eat.
D –Watch T.V while you wait.

Hello~
A is the winner.

You follow your mother and offer your assistance before she can protest. While she focus on cutting the scallions, you crack some eggs* into a bowl and whisked it, adding some milk. Breakfast is a very important meal of the day, but it shouldn’t be a hassle to make, so the both of you settled on making omelets. As you are whisking away, you asked your mother about the reason she moved to Pallet Town.

“Why did we move to Pallet? Well sweetie, I know some people here. Like Professor Oak.” Your mother proceeds to cut some tomatoes as she talk. You had met Professor Oak sometimes, but aside from his occupation as the world’s leading authority in Pokémon research, you don’t know too much about him. “He is such a kind person, and I do help him every now and then.”

While you don’t exactly remember who Professor Oak was, you do know his obnoxious grandson; the kid who never hesitates to tug on your hair, both verbally and literally. You finish beating the eggs and turn on the stove as your mother finishes slicing the onions and mushrooms. In a couple of minutes breakfast is ready.

While you devour your omelet, you hear your mother speak up. You swallow and ask her to repeat what she just said.

“You know Blade, you really should pay attention to others, even if you’re too preoccupied with something.” She sighs. “I said, why don’t you visit Professor Oak? It would be a great experience if you learn more abo8ut Pokémon from him.” Looking closely, you see that your mother is very tired from sleeping on the table. You tell her that you’ll go only if she rest and not watch soap operas. “…Alight. I’ll sleep as soon as I clean up the dishes.”

You will not have that. You force your mother into bed and wash the dishes yourself. After which you then leave the house, making sure it is locked and walk around the neighborhood.

…Which feels oddly short considering there are only four buildings. In fact, if feels too short to house the world famous Professor Oak. The only other place is Viridian City, but that requires going through tall grass where wild Pokémon awaits. Your mother would so kill you herself if she finds out about traveling there. Despite that thought you decided to chance it and take the grassy route and hope that a wild Pokémon will not pop out and slaughter you.

“Hey! Wait! Don’t go out!” You hear someone call out. Somehow that voice sounds familiar but you cannot think of where you heard it before… Turning around you see an old man in a white lab coat. He appeared to be…science-y. And deduce that he is either Professor Oak or someone who works for him. The man continues to talk. “It’s unsafe! Wild Pokemon lives in that grass you know?! They could gnaw off your leg!” he snaps his finger. Somehow you think you’re better off with the wild Pokémon. “What you need is your own Pokémon Blade!”

Wait hold up. How does this man, who looks to be in his mid 60s know who you are? He notices your confused look and smiled. “Oh! I haven’t introduced myself. I am Professor Oak. Your mother and my grandson told me so much about you! Come with me.” Sensing you have little choice, you follow the suspicious old man into a suspicious looking building.

Inside were various bookshelves and a table containing 3 strange objects. Pokéballs as you recall. Next to him is the brown haired brat you know as his grandson. “Gramps! I’m fed up with waiting!” He seems to be ignoring you altogether. The professor looked confused. “Huh? Who are you? Oh wait. I told you to come here as well.” He extended his hand towards the three spheres. “Here, Blade. There are three Pokémon here. They are contained within the Pokéballs. When I was young I was a serious Pokémon trainer.” His beaming face soon turns into a depressing look. “But now, in my old age, these three are all I have left.” You wonder what happened to Oak’s other Pokémon as his face beams at you one more. “You can have one. Go on. Choose!”

Again, having no choice, you decided to take out a Pokémon. But which one?

A. The one on the far left.

B. The middle one.

C. The one on the far right

After you pick a Pokémon the obnoxious grandson shoves you aside and take a Pokéball of his own. “Haha! You picked that one? Well. I know MINE is better. After all, being the grandson of the great Professor Oak, I know lots about Pokémon.” He sneers at you before you can even respond. “Want proof? Let’s have a Pokémon battle!” In the corner of you eye, you can see Professor Oak rubbing his temples. You think about your next action carefully.

A. Call out your Pokémon and accept the challenge!

B. Ignore him and continue talking to the Professor

C. Admit defeat before even fighting him. Might as well save yourself the trouble.

D. Walk up to him and sock him in the face.
