Editor's Note: This was a story I started on a long time ago, and I had an idea for an end, but I stopped at chapter 5 due to not truly knowing where I was wanting it to go. When I first thought this up, I wanted it to be fiction, but looking at it, it still 'KINDA' had the possibility of non-fiction. But either way, I held off on uploading this for a long time, and since I finally thought it up, I thought 'eh, why not, let's see what others think'. So here you go, "The Protector". I know there's a couple mistakes here and there with the writing in general, but In haven't touched this in a long time, so critics, have at it. Let me know what you think as I go ahead and upload the other chapters later on. Chapter 1: Moving On It was a warm sunny thursday and me and both of my parents are at the airport. As we go in, I'm just ignoring everthing that's going on with an angry expression on my face. I couldn't make any other expressions the whole time we were there which was alot longer than I'd thought. After two hours of waiting, we finally get to the waiting area where we waited even more for the plane to get ready to depart. I was still giving the angry expression the whole time we were there because it wasn't exactly the happiest moment of my life. My mom finally sees my expression and says "Son, stop with the face". "I don't want to" I said. "Son, please stop with the face. It's just going to make your sister more upset about this". "Let her be upset. I told you I didn't want to do this". "And we told you you don't have a choice. You have to go to California to live with your sister". "Why do I have to do this again"? "We told you about 10 times already son. Your going to california to live with your sister so you can keep her company. Also, she's been having trouble with bills since her roommate moved out". "And why did her roomate leave again"? "Because he had to go to New York to help with his mothers operation". "Sigh... I'm not even gonna ask what's wrong with his mom cause something tells me It's just gonna be so complicated that I'll get a brain tumor before you're done explaining it to me" My dad walks in while I'm talking "You watch your mouth in front of your mother son". "Sorry". "Now what are you complaining about"? Mom and dad look at each other and then they both look at me while I still have the expression since i walked in the airport. "Son, stop being so upset over it. You're going and that's final, so stop whining." my dad said. I just sat there with the same expression not saying anything. "Now look son" said my mom, "It's not going to be that bad. Just give it a chance. You might get to enjoy california." "It's not going to california I'm upset about" I said. "It's because you're both making me move with the one sister that hates my guts". "She doesn't hate you son." My dad said, "We told you, she loves you very much." "My whole childhood was putting up with her constantly bullying me, making me do almost everything for her because she's lazy as living hell, and--" "That's enough!" My mom said, almost sounded like she was shouting. Then it felt like it was completely silent, even though the noise was loud enough to make you want to cover your ears. "Son" My dad said, "We know your sister has been hard on you back then, but she's changed. She's not the bully you once knew. She's become very mature and ever since she moved out on us, all she ever wanted to do was to make it up to you for putting up with all she did." "And even though she hasn't been the nicest sister, she is still your sister, and right now, she needs you. She needs your help around the house so she can still have a house to live in." Mom told me. "She's probrably going to make me pay all of the bills while she goes out partying at the bar or something" I blurted out. Then dad put his hand on my shoulder and said "Son, listen to me. No matter what happens down there, no matter how much abuse you go through, remember that she is your sister, your family. And that's the way It's going to stay. She might be mean to you here and there, but just keep in mind she loves you. You have to step up and be there for her becase she doesn't have anyone else to rely on anymore over there. So please son, watch over your sister, and protect her. Protect her with your life, and we promise you son, you will learn to love her as much as she loves you." I just kept looking at my dad, thinking he might start to cry while he was telling me this. "But what about you?" I said, "What about your money issue? Won't you have trouble down here too?" Don't worry about us son" My mom started saying, "We can handle things down here. Right now, your sister needs you now more than ever. So please don't be so angry, and try to be happy while living there for us son". "Sigh" As i sat there thinking about it, we barley manage to hear the PA. "Flight 521 ready to depart." "That's your flight." Dad said. So after waiting for what seemed like days, I got up and was getting ready to get on the plane thinking only how much torture my sister will bring me while living in California. My mom hugged me as soon as i stood up and my dad patted my shoulder. "Your the man of the house now son. You be strong for yourself and your sister". "If I manage to survive the week living with her, I think I'll be able to handle anything that happens down there" I said. Before getting on the plane, I stopped and looked back to my parents as I saw them waving bye to me. I almost shed a tear thinking of how much I'm leaving behind. My home, my parents, my friends, everyone I knew in Texas is now just gonna be memories as soon as I get on the plane, so I waved by to my parents and got in the plane. I gave the lady that was standing next to the door the ticket, sat down and took a deep breath preparing myself for the long flight and the dreadful days of living with my sister. A stranger comes up and sits next to me while I was took a big sigh. And then he said "First time flying"? "Yeah". "Don't worry, It's not that bad". "It's not the ride I'm worrying about". He gives me a weird look and then I turned my head to the window. Right before take-off, I got to see my parents in the waiting area one more time before the plane took-off. My parents were both waving as I took one more look back at my old home. "Attention passengers, this is the pilot speaking. Please remain in your seat until we have taken off and until further notice. We thank you for choosing Texas Airline, and we hope you enjoy the flight." And sure enough, about 10 minutes later, the plane finally took off. And so starts the new life of living with my sister, being around new surroundings and an adventure that no one could ever perdict. End of Chapter 1. Edited by Kibatu, May 25 2013, 01:56 PM.

Chapter 2. Moving in As the plane took off, I was cringing to my seat thinking the worst is gonna happen the very next second. The guy next to me says "Relax. These plane rides arn't as bad as the movies make them out to be." "I already said it's not the plane I'm worrying about" "Then what?" said the guy. "Nothing. Don't worry about it." "If you say so... So, this is your first flight you said?" "Yep." "Well then, how about a drink?" I was wondering why this guy was being really nice, considering I haven't really been all that nice to the guy. "A Dr. Pepper sounds good actually." "Excuse me miss." The brunette pony-tailed lady turned straight towards him like he somehow seduced her to him. "Yes sir?" "Can we get a Dr. Pepper and a Coca-cola?" "Sure, just give me one minute." "Thank you." "Wait, Doesn't it cost money to get anything on a plane?" "Yep, rather expensive too." "How expensive are we talking?" "On this plane, I'd say about $1.00 for a can." "Seriously?! That's just retarded!" "Well then, be glad you're getting yours for free." "You don't have to do that. I can always pay for myself." "Well you seem to be a little troubled at the moment, and you were wanting a soda, so I'm just gonna go ahead and get it for you." Right as was done with his sentence, the brunette came back with the two sodas. "Here you go." He takes the sodas and hands me the Dr. Pepper and asks "Do you want something to eat?" "I can wait after the planes at California." And right as soon as I said that, my stomach just growled like a lion right in the middle of the jungle. "Uhh..." "Would you like a menu?" the brunette said. "Well, I could use a little bit of food." "I'll just have a hamburger." said the guy. "I guess I'll just take a hamburger too." "Ok, just give me another minute." I then reach for my wallet to pay for my food, but then the guy places a 50 dollar bill right on the table in front of him. "No." I said. "Paying for my soda is one thing, but I don't want you to spend all that money on me." "Don't worry about it. Money's not a problem for me." I look down and think about it for a second, let out a big sigh and put my wallet back in my pocket. A few minutes later, the brunette comes back with our food. "Here you are gentlemen." "Thanks." "Thank you." we both said at the same time. I went and started eating my hamburger and he just sat there for a couple of seconds before he started eating his. I stopped eating for a second and asked "Why'd you do it?" "Huh?" "Why did you pay for my food and soda?" "Well, that's just how I am." "Eh?" "I'm the kind of person that just helps out everyone any way I can. I hate to sit back and see people in pain or distress." "But to pay for a random persons food and soda... That's expensive as living hell." "Why not? I knew you were hungry and thirsty, and I knew you weren't going to get anything for yourself, so I went ahead and got it for you." "I didn't think I'd need it. Besides, I could of been an angry person ready to beat up something for no reason. I could of been a criminal and take this plane hostage." "But you're not angry, and you're not trying to take the plane, are you?" I just sat there with a "What the hell" look. "I didn't know what you were like, this is true. But I still wanted to help. Who knows, maybe you were an angry child when you were a kid. Mabe you were the average bully in your schools" "No way." "But I didn't know that. But whoever you were back then or now, I could still tell you could of used some help, so what else could I've done?" I just sat there sipping on my soda thinking he might stop any second. "Whenever someone needs help in the world, you can't just ignore their cries. You have to answer them with care, love and protection." I got to thinking after he said that. "Why don't you get some sleep. This plane ride will take a little while." "That'll be good" I said. He then handed me a pillow and then I just laid my head down so I could sleep. I didn't dream too much, but boy, it was a heck of a dream. I was standing there in the middle of a town, everyone was running from something. "Hey kid!" some guy started shouting while running. "What do you think you're doing?! Run, go!" "Why? What's going on?" He then pointed to a red glowing ball that was coming down to earth like a meteorite. It was humongus, bigger than the blue whales, the pyramids, every single thing in this whole world. I just stood there and stared at it. "Come on, let's go!" the guy said. The guy then started running while I was just standing there starting at the red ball in the sky while it was falling down on us. I then saw my sister running towards me. "Mike! Mike!" "Jessa?" "Mike, we have to leave now!" "Why? What the heck's going on?" "I'll explain later, let's just go!" Then I saw her fall down. "Jessa!" And the very second I said that, I saw this tornado that looked like it was connected to the red ball that was falling down heading towards my sister. "Jessa, look out!" But it wasn't enough. She was swallowed up by the red tornado and as I saw her being sucked into the tornado, I started to run away as fast as I can. I didn't care how close the tornado was, I just kept running for my life. But then I tripped and got my pants stuck on a part of concrete. I tried to get it unstuck but I just couldnt get to it fast enough. I looked up and saw the tornado closing in. As I was screaming trying to get my pants unstuck, I saw this light blue figure come out of nowhere and land right in front of me. It was another person, but it looked so unrealistic. The figure putted his hand in from of him, and then the tornado, the red ball, everything dissapeared. Then I looked around and saw everything was glowing light blue around me. I looked at the figure again and asked "Who... What are you?" He stood there for a few seconds, turned his head around to look at me and said "I'm you." It was just like looking in a mirror. I saw me standing there with all of the clothes shining a light blue color. I then heard a voice out of nowhere. "Hey kid." I heard. "Hey, wake up." And then I quickly sat up and I was back on the plane. "You ok?" I looked around thinking "What just happened?" as the guy next to me tries to calm me down. Then I heard him laugh while talking "You looked like you were having a heck of a dream." I sat there for a second. "I was." I said. "Well it's time to get up. We're here." I looked out my window and sure enough, we were at the airport. "Oh boy." I blurted out. "Attention passengers, this is the pilot speaking. As you can see out your window, we have arrived to our destination. Please wait until the plane has come to a full stop before getting out of your seat. Thank you for choosing Texas flight, and we hope you enjoyed your flight" "Well, here I go, starting a whole new life." The plane finally stops and I try to get out of the plane as fast as possible. As I was about to exit the front doors of the airport, the guy I was sitting next to on the plane was walking up right behind me. "So, you enjoy your nap?" "Yeah, weird dream though." "I can only imagine." "Well, thanks for the food and drink on the plane." "Not a problem." "And, thanks for telling me why you did that." "Anyway I can help." We shaked each others hands as I got into my cab. "I guess I'll see you later." "Yep, see ya." as I get into the cab. "Where to buddy?" the cab driver says. I dug into my pocket to find a piece of paper and handed the paper to the driver. "That's the address." "All right then." About 15 minutes later, we finally get to the house that my sister was living at. I handed the driver the money and said "Thank you." "Not a problem. Anyway I can help." I stopped walking to the front door as soon as he said that as he drove off. "Huh." I said. As I walk up to the front door, I get all of the memories of my sister go through my head at once. "Oh boy." I said to myself, taking a deep breath. "Well, here goes something." I then knocked on the door, knowing that right as soon as the door opened, my life would change forever. Chapter 3: Jessa As I walked up the stairs, I felt my heart racing like crazy thinking what's going to happen after I knock on that door. As soon as I got to the door, mental images raced through my head. One of which was me driving while my sister was in the passenger seat. As I was about to make a turn, she grabbed the wheel and made me turn the other way almost running over two people and almost hit a building. "What the hell are you trying to do, revoke my licence?!" "Maaaaaybe." she said. Another one was when she watching over me while our parents went out when we were younger. As soon as mom and dad came home, my sister always found a way to get me into trouble, rather it be a briuse she just got, or she made a mess in the house. Everything she did before they come home, she makes up a lie and points the finger at me, getting me into trouble. As soon as those images went through my head, I shook my head thinking "No no no no no." I then quickly regained my composure, took a deep breath and placed my hand right next to the door, fixing to knock on it. I took a few seconds of silence so I could brace myself for the worst to come. I then quickly knocked on the door with my eyes closed. I really did not want to see my sister, not when I had to live with the same sister that caused so much trouble in my childhood. I kept my eyes closed for a good minutes or so, until I heard the doorknob turn. I clinched my hands bracing a tackle or something that was about to happen. "Oh, good. You're finally here." I faintly heard as soon as I heard the door open. Oddly enough though, it didn't sound like the same voice I normally heard from my sister. This voice sounded nice, honest, and pretty uplifting. But still a bit on a skeptical side, I kept my eyes closed pondering what I was about to see. Was I about to see the same mean sister that treated me like crap for years, or was I about to see a whole new side of my sister ever since that day she left the house? "Hey." I said, keeping my eyes closed. "Why do you have your eyes closed?" "Cause I can?" "Open them up brother." she said, kinda laughing. So I lifted up one of my eyes very slowly wondering what I'm about to see. As my eye became wide open, I saw my sister like I thought I never would of thought I'd seen her as. She looked alot different than the last time I saw her, with her long blonde hair, and the style of clothes she was wearing. I almost had my jaw dropped the very first second I saw her. Made me wonder if she became a model or something. "There you go." she said with a smile. "Well, uhh... you certianly changed since the last time I saw you." "Yeah, but you changed as well." "Huh?" "What I meant was that you've grown." "I don't think I've changed that much." "No, you have. I can tell." She was looking me straight in the eye when she said that. I don't think I've ever seen her give such a serious expression saying something like that before. If she had, it was the first time she gave me that look. "Well come on in. Make yourself at home." She walked inside as I was still standing there kind of dazed of the expression she gave me. But after snapping out of it, I looked inside first and saw first hand the place I was going to be living in. The first thing I noticed was the furniture. It looked so nice and decorated. Taking my first step in the house and immideatly looking to my left, I can see the stairs leading to the second floor. Looking straight ahead of me, I saw the kitchen where my sister was. "So, are you hungry? I figured after that long flight, you might've been starving by the time you got here." I was going to say no, but as soon as I opened my mouth, my stomach growled. My sister apparently heard it growl because as soon as it growled, she said "I'll make you something to eat. Come here, sit down and relax." I went ahead and sat down for a little bit, looking around the kitchen, wondering if I'll find something disturbing. I looked to the right and I saw on the kitchen counter a picture of my sister and some other people I don't know. There was one guy with black short hair, skinny and kind of reminds me of another friend back home. Then there was another guy that had brown hair. He wasn't as skinny as the other guy but he was pretty close to the same size. And lastly, a girl with a brunette pony tail that looked very cute. As I looked in the picture, I noticed that everyone had dark hair except for my sister who had blonde hair. It didn't mean anything I'm sure, but it was just strange how I figured that out while I was staring at the picture. "My friends." I turned to her as she was placing a plate of food on my table. "Huh?" I said as I was looking back at my sister. "You're staring at that picture over there. Those are my friends I hang out with." "You all looked like you were having alot of fun." "We were. The four of us always had fun no matter where we went. It was just natural that no matter where we went, we all would have a good time." "Who are they exactly?" "The guy on the left with black hair is Chris. He's the gamer of the group. He was just really good, none of us could beat him." "Really?" I've always been addicted to video games, and I've also been a bit of a competetive person. Not like the ones on MLG, but enough to want to beat a good gamer around the neighberhood. "Yeah, he always hangs out at the arcade when he's not hanging out with us. You would think he would have something else to do, but he doesn't." "What about the other two?" "The guy with brown hair is Shawn. He's a gamer like Chris is but not as addicted. He is as good as Chris though. He's working at the local donut store nearby." "Nifty." "I always go in at early morning and he'd always sneak a donut for me. He's a really nice guy." "What about the girl?" "That's Kayla. Kayla's the first friend I made ever since I moved down here. Me and her always hanged out after work and we always had fun when we were hanging out. She was actually wanting to meet you when I told her that you were moving in." "Really?" "Yeah. She always wanted to know what you were like, what type of music, movies and alot of other things you liked." "Huh." "You think you might be interested in her?" "I don't know. I'll just have to meet her and find out." "Not even five minutes in this house and you're already looking for girls. You really have changed." As soon as she said that, she wrapped her arm around my neck and was rubbing my head with her other arm. "Hey, stop that!" She quickly letted go as I turned around and saw her smiling. "What was that for?" "Well that's just a way of saying welcome home Mike." She was still smiling and walked into the living room. "So you want to watch some TV?" I just sat there thinking "Maybe this will be a good experience." After that, the whole day passed by so fast, I barely remembered what I did all day. By nine, I went ahead and got all of my stuff in my new room. I didn't want to unpack since I was so tired after that day. As I layed on my bed looking at the roof, I wondered what life's going to be like here. As these thoughts passed by my head, I was slowly closing my eyes falling asleep. That day was the day my new life began, and the start of a whole new experience for me to have. End of Chapter 3. |

Chapter 4: The Town As I was sleeping, I had the same exact dream, only this time, it felt more... comforting. I felt like I didn't have to worry knowing that there was someone out there watching over not just me, but everyone of the world. As the light blue figure appeared to get rid of the chaos around me again, I had to ask "What exactly did you mean when you said that you were me?" "As I told you" he said, "I'm you" "But what exactly do you mean?" "Give it time. You will understand everything." He said as he was dissapearing. "Wait, hold on! I'm not done yet!" I shouted as he was slowly fading away. It was right at point I woke up screaming "Wait!" It took me a quick second to realize that it was just another dream. "Jeez, why did it come up again?" Scratching my head, my sister opened the door and said "Everything OK?" "Yeah, yeah." I said, still a little shaken over the dream. "Just a bad dream." "All right... In the meantime, breakfest is ready." She said as she was closing the door. I was still sitting on the bed with a stupid look on my face thinking... "What was that all about? Why did I have the same dream again? Eh, don't matter... it's just a dream anyways." I got up, put my clothes on that were still in some luggage I didn't unpack, and went down to see my sister setting up the table. "So what's for breakfest?" I said. "Pancakes and eggs." she replied. As I sat down, she handed me the food and thus eating breakfest. It was right then and there I had flashbacks of when me and my sisters were kids, how we always played in the frontyard, and how my sisters always picked on me for being the youngest. I then blurted out "It's been a while." "Hmm?" she said wondering. "It's been awhile since we've seen each other, let alone eat at the same table." "It has, hasn't it?" "Let me ask you something." "Go ahead." "Back when we were kids, why was it you always picked on me and not her?" "Brother, that was a long time ago. Don't worry about it" "No, I want to know. Why were the both of you always messing with me?" "Because you're our brother." "And that's it?" "Well, we were just messing around, plus, we were kids back then." "Even so, you were always against me, not each other." "We never were against you. We were--" "Yeah right." "Brother, please stop acting like this. That was years ago. Can't you just let it go?" "Apparently not." I said as I got up, slammed the silverware on the table and walked out the door. "Brother!" She said concerned sounding but also annoyed. As I walked out the front door, I grabbed my cell phone and went outside, started walking down the street away from the house angry. I always held a grudge against my sisters for the way they acted towards me. I know they always say it was because we were kids and they were just messing around, but it still annoyed me that they never really said sorry or the fact that they were both always against me and never against each other or anyone else. Everything I said to my parents they never believed in, but they trusted every single thing my sisters said to them. Everything they did wrong, they somehow got me in trouble for, and they always treated me like crap. I still felt like that if I ever got to see them in person together, they would still be against me after all these years. Walking at a fast pace, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going let alone pay attention to what was in front of me. I just kept thinking on all the times my sisters always picked on me. It was then I snapped myself out of it because I realized I wasn't even paying attention to anything going on around me. I then realized I was in the middle of town, not knowing the inviroment. To my left, I saw a big park. To my right, I saw alot of buildings, skyscrapers and other things. I then saw I was at a traffic stop, waiting for the light to change. It was right then and there I thought to myself, "And this is why you don't daydream while walking..." I looked across the street and I saw a lot of people waiting for the light to change. One person I saw in particular had a book in front of her face, so she wasn't really paying attention to what was going on. I looked at the light as it changed and everyone was crossing. Everyone... except the woman with the book. I stared for a second or two, thinking to myself, "Does she not realize the light changed?" I then saw the light change again and as soon as it did, she started walking, still having the book right in her face. "What the hell is she doing?!" I thought, watching her cross. As soon as I saw her walking, I looked to my right and saw a Corvette going 60 which was 15 miles over the speed limit. The only thing that came to mind was "Crap!" as I saw the Corvette drive up. The driver was not paying any attention to the road, instead, the driver was texting on his phone while driving. So knowing this was going to end badly, out of impulse, I ran straight to the woman, grabbing her and dive bombing back onto the sidewalk. I felt the car passing by as if it felt like it was literally inches away from my feet. As soon as I hit the pavement, I got up and yelled to the driver "Watch where the hell you're going, jackass!" I then started walking away, not even paying any attention to the girl I had just saved because I was so angry at the driver for almost causing an accident. As I was walking away, I heard someone yell "Wait!" I stopped and turned around seeing that it was the woman I just saved yelling at me. It was then I realized she looked identical to the girl I saw in the picture that was on the kitchen counter at my sisters house. She stared at me with her eyes, like she was about to cry. "Did you just save me?" she asked. At that point, a man that looked like he was about 50-60 years old came up behind me grabbing my shoulders saying "He sure did!" He then turned me around and hugged me saying "You're a hero young man!" "Hey hey hey, easy." I shouted "It wasn't anything major." Then alot more people gathered around praising me for saving the womans life. It got really loud and crowded real quick, and I was not comfortable at all. So as soon as I saw an opening, I decided to make a break for it and run as far and as fast as I possibly can. As I was running, I looked back and saw the girl still looking at me, but then turned my head back to see where I was going. When I finally got away from the people, I started panting and stopped to take a breather. "Jeez, people nowadays!" I said to myself. I then realized that once again, I had no idea where I was. "Great, getting even more lost in this place" I thought to myself. As I was trying to figure out where I was, I heard a whisper "Hey you." "Huh?" I said wondering where the whispering was coming from. "Down here." the voice said down this dark alleyway. I looked down the alleyway seeing if I can see anything at all. I couldn't see at all, and then I decided it was your imagination and decided to keep walking. "Get over here." The voice yelled out, coming from the alleyway again. "This is not something you should be doing, randomly walking down an alleyway where there's whispering." I said outloud to myself. "I'm not going to hurt you. I just wish to talk to you." the voice said, now sounding more clearer. It sounded more like a woman as I kept hearing her whisper. I then grabbed a rock I saw on the ground and put it in my pocket thinking it might help me get away from the alleyway if something happened. But as I was about to figure out, something WAS about to happen... something big. End of chapter 4. |

Chapter 5: The Gift As I was walking down the alleyway, I kept thinking "Where's the person hiding at?" while keeping the hand in my pocket, keeping a hold of the rock I grabbed, ready to throw it at the person. "You don't have to worry. I will not do anything to harm you." The voice said as I kept walking. As I came to a point with three different directions to go, I then yelled out "All right, where are you? I don't have time for this!" "You're right, you don't have much time until it happens." "Wait, what do you mean 'until it happens'?" "If you truly wish to know, then choose a path to take. If you choose the right path, you will find me and then you will know." "All right, this is starting to get ridiculous." I said as I was looking down the 3 paths in front of me. They all looked the same, no clear indication of which way was the right way or which way had what. "Well I don't know why, but the middle path feels like a good choice." I then started running down the middle path, noticing that it was getting darker and darker with every step that I take. As I went farther down, I started thinking "Great, guess I went the wrong way." And as I was thinking this, it then went pitch black. I couldn't see anything in front of me as it turned black, but I still kept running forward in hopes I can find the person calling out to me. "You're almost there." I heard the woman say as I started to see a very faint like in the distance. I kept running, feeling like I've been running for hours on end until I finally got to the light. As I ran into the light, I then ended up at what looked like a park. It was really big, bright and there was so many trees as far as the eye could see. As I was looking around, wondering where the heck I was, I then heard the voice again. "Keep heading forward, you're so close." I looked straight ahead of me, and far into the distance, I saw a lake that was surrounding a little piece of land that had only one tree on it. The tree itself was very big, bigger than any of the trees that were surrounding me. As I got closer, I then noticed a lone figure standing on the little piece of land. As I finally got to the lake, I then saw the woman that was calling out to me. She looked like a goddess looking at her from such close range, with blonde hair, a long white gown and skin that was glowing like the lake that was surrounding her. "Are you the one that was calling out to me?" "Yes, I am. Thank you for coming all this way." She then gave a smile, a smile that felt like she had finally gotten to meet someone she has not met in years. "All right, now why did you want me to come all this way here? What business do you have with me?" "I have a lot of business with you Mike." "Whoa whoa whoa, how the heck do you even know my name?" "I've known you for quite some time Mike. In fact, I knew you ever since you were born." "What do you mean by--" As I was trying to ask her, she then started to walk towards me, walking on the water like she was practically walking on land. Seeing this, I started freaking out and pulled out the rock I had in my pocket. "Hey hey hey, stay back! I don't know who you are or what you're planning, but I don't plan on sticking around to find out!" She then waved her hand towards me, and as I was about to throw the rock at her, I then felt nothing there. I looked at my hand only to see the rock completely dissapeared. "What the heck?!" I then turned back towards her as she was still walking towards me, noticing the rock that I just had a second ago. "How did you--" I then see her drop the rock, and the rock sank, sank down to the bottom of the lake as she was still walking towards me. "I have told you already, you don't have to worry." As she finally got out of the water and onto land, still walking towards me, I then tried to run away, panicking. As I started running, I tripped over a piece of the trees roots and got it stuck. As I tried to get it unstuck, the woman was getting closer and closer to me. I pulled and pulled and pulled, but I couldn't get my foot unstuck. Finally she is right in front of me as I'm still trying to get my foot unstuck. She then grabbed my foot and moved the roots that got me stuck, moved my foot and moved the roots back. "Whoa..." I just sat there in awe of what I was seeing happening before me. She then looked at me and at that point, I couldn't move. I was too awe struck to do anything. She then leaned towards me and kissed my forehead. As she stands back up, she says "You see? Nothing to worry about." As I finally snapped out of it, I pulled myself up, brushing off the dirt that got on my clothes and looked back at the woman. "That was incredible, the way you moved that root and placed it back." "Not as incredible as to what you can, and will do." "Wait, what?" "Mike, I've called you here for a reason. The time has come for you to finally do what it is you were suppose to do with your life." She then takes my hand and makes a light come up as the light began to take form. The light shined like nothing I've ever seen before. As the light started to fade, she lets go of my hand. I then looked at it and saw a green crystal type of object in the palm of my hand. "OK, what the heck is this?" "This is the start of something wonderful. This is a crystal that can help you gain the incredible abilities that are laying dorment inside of you." "Abilities? What are you talking about? Who the heck are you? What is this all about?" "Now now Mike, you will know exactly what to do when the time is right, but until then--" She then takes her hand and places it on my head. I then saw a light shining in front of me, getting brighter and brighter until I can only see white all around me. "Just remember, you are the one that shall protect everyone." The woman says as the light began to fade. As the light was fading, I then started to hear noises of cars, people and a lot of other things. As the light went away, I found myself lying down on the pavement on the sidewalk. Sitting up, I looked around me, noticing that I was at the same spot where the woman was first calling out to me. "What... what the living hell just happened?!" I was thinking to myself, dumbfounded and really confused as to what just happened. I then had images of what just happened flash before my eyes, just confusing me more. "Was all that... was all that that just happened an illusion?" As I was looking at my hands, I noticed that I was carrying the same crystal that the woman gave to me. Freaking out again, I thought "No, that wasn't an illusion! That really did just happen!" "But... what was that all about? Who was that person, why did I just end up out here again, and more importantly..." I looked at the crystal again. "Why did she give me this, and what exactly am I suppose to do with this?" Still trying to figure out, I heard a yell from a distance. "Hey you!" As I looked behind me, I saw the girl I saved earlier running towards me, apparently trying to get my attention. "Oh great, here we go again." I thought to myself as I got up on my feet. As she finally got to me, she was panting really hard, really running out of breath. "Wow... 'pant' you sure are a fast one." "I really didn't run that far." "You just ran for over a mile... I think that should be considered a pretty far running distance." "'Sigh' Whatever. Anyways, where you trying to get my attention?" "Yeah... 'pant' yeah..." As she finally caught her breath, she turned her head to me. "Listen, I was wanting to thank you for what you did just a few minutes ago." "That really wasn't much. If that damn driver was paying more attention, I wouldn't even have had to do anything." "But it did happen, and I wasn't even paying attention to the car myself. And you still saved me from getting hit by a car, so..." She then turned her head away, almost looked like she was blushing for a minute. "Thank you." "Eh, don't worry about it." I said as I started to walk away. "Wait!" She said, stopping me. "What now?" As I turned back around, facing her. "Sorry, but... I was wanting to make it up to you for saving me." "Nah, don't worry about it. Not something I want to take credit for anyways." "But why not? You went out of your way to protect me. The least I can do is show a little gratitude." I still didn't want her to really 'thank' me for what I did, but two things came to mind as I was trying to leave. The first being that I was still in the middle of the city, completely lost, and if I tried to leave now, I would probably be lost for ever. The second being that I really didn't have anything to do, and besides that, I still really didn't want to go back home where my sister was. "Well... all right then." "Good. Now come on." She says grabbing my arm, dragging me down the street. "Whoa whoa whoa, where are we going?" "Where going to this restaurant that I go to a lot." I was going to tell her that I wasn't even hungry, but as I was about to say that, my stomach growled back at me. I also realized that I didn't even eat much of breakfast because of what happened with my sister. So I thought I might as well go with her and actually eat some breakfast. As we were walking, she looked back at me and gave a really cute smile. "By the way, my name's Kayla." And that's when it hit me, this was the same girl that was in the picture of friends at my sisters house. "What's your name?" "It's Michael, but everyone calls me Mike." She then stops and takes a good look at my face. "What?" "I was wondering why you looked so familiar. Are you Jessica's brother?" "Yes, I am." "Oh wow, I did hear from her you were going to come and live here now." She then starts to laugh. "Your first couple of days in town, and you already saved a life." "Yeah. Funny how that happens." We then started to walk again, and as we were walking, we got to talking about each other. I then thought to myself "Man, what a day this is turning out to be already." Chapter End. And that's about all I wrote in this story. I didn't think it was gonna be as good by the time I wrote this. Just enjoy the 5 chapters I somehow wrote for now at least. |
