[7:12:36 PM] Gaia (Jason): Write me an essay on why ZUN should make Wriggle do a literal Divekick in Touhou 15: The Whole Game is ⑨ (AlsoStillnoMima :c) Wriggle's divekick shouldn't be new to people. We all know it exists, or should. Touhou Soccer 2 gave an excellent example of this. Wriggle jumped, stuck her right foot out, and shot the soccer ball with a green glow coming off the ball. What's the problem with this? It's not canon with the actual series. Poor Canon Wriggle has to do with just a Stage One showing, and an missed opportunity as a playable character in Touhou 12.3. Cirno however, has a whole list of appearances in the series that it makes sense to call her a stable character now, heck she even got her own game. Only problem. Not part of the main series of games. Doesn't help that she's a very weak character on pure principle. Sure she can freeze people to death, but that doesn't aid with the fact that she is a fairy and fairies are generally weak. Very weak. She even has her own group of characters that are similar to her, but all fall under Wriggle in having only one appearance ever. What I'm proposing is simple. Give this group of characters a game of their own, within the actual series, without the decimal affecting anything. The obviously question is how you'd be able to add in a divekick for Wriggle. This could be done in two different ways. If she were a playable character, make her bomb push her forward and have a small pixel be somewhat above her actual hitbox, thereby simulating a divekick. Same sort of thing would be done if she was a boss in this game. She'd have a spell card of her going straight down towards the character, with an array of bullets in her path or by her foot. You could use the same sort of array used in her original stage one appearance in Touhou 8. For one thing it wouldn't create a safe spot for the player, since they'd have Wriggle going straight towards them, and secondly, the fanbase will finally have their night bug obtain a divekick. The only problem I can see to this is: If she becomes a boss character once again, what stage would be right for her? You can't really have a divekick spell card in stage one or two, it's a bit odd for a first look into the game, albeit a bullet hell game. You can't have it be in the later parts of the game because honestly it isn't that complex to dodge. Through taking care of these factors, the conclusion is to make Wriggle either a Stage 3 or 4. This however creates another problem. What to do with all the other stages. An answer would be to make two new characters for stage one and two, then have Team ⑨ take up the rest of the stages. It might work in this order: New Character 1, New Character 2, Rumia, Wriggle, Mystia, Letty, then having the Extra Stage Boss be Cirno. Of course the placement of Cirno and Letty can be switched around for power to stage purposes, but you get the idea. You could easily adopt this idea for later Touhou games, and not for 15. The main point to this is to provide the ideas of Wriggle's Divekick and how it'd work within the series canon. There might be many other alternatives, but this was the one that I thought was the most reasonable. It could of easily just been her divekicking in a fighting game, but that isn't exactly part of the main thing is it. This is just fruit for more ideas. More interesting ways to do all of this kind of thing. To see the fans happy once again. Edited by Boredalo, Jul 30 2013, 10:02 PM.

A possible workaround with the footdive spellcard and having a ground bounce. Wriggle would stun you upon hitting you, your character would end up moving towards one of the sides, and she'd hit you with another footdive again. Would be counted as one life. Just a thought. |
