Deliciously delicious.
Title: Mighty No. 9

Genre: Japanese Side-Scrolling Action/Shooter

Platform: PC (Stretch goals include Mac/Linux ports at 1.35 million and current gen console ports at 2.5 million)

Release date: Spring 2015 via Steam

The ones in charge: Keiji Inafune and a crack team of MegaMan devs

One thing before I continue with this (just in case): This is NOT a CAPCOM hate thread. Take that to the Rants Thread.

Beck, the ninth creation in a series of powerful robots, is the only one unaffected by a mysterious computer virus which threatens all machinery to go berserk.
Run through several stages (or possibly more through the use of stretch goals in Kickstarter) jumpin' an' shootin' an' TRANSFORMIN' to bring down your Mighty Number brethren, kick the catalyst's can, chew some bublegum, and save the world!

You steal the powers of your enemies and can take on the stages in any manner you choose. This supposed to take the awesomeness of 8-bit and 16-bit games, and crank it up to eleven with modern era games, fresh mechanics, and fan input.

This is essentially a spiritual successor to MegaMan since Keiji Inafune himself started this through Kickstarter. The funding period began on August 31, 2013 and will end on October 1, 2013. And yes, they already reached their goal within, like, three days.

But that doesn't mean you can't donate with the hope of some extra content! Or something... The Kickstarter page also has some awesome screenshots/concept art/whatever it is if scroll down enough.

I tried my best not to outright plagiarize the description in touchgameplay's video and the Kickstarter page, but I couldn't really think of a better way to describe this.

Oh, and here's my source: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/09/02/keiji-inafunes-mighty-no-9-hits-kickstarter-goal/

Soooooo... What do you guys have to say on this?

I, personally think this looks pretty cool and very reminiscent of Megaman Powered Up and Legends in terms of art direction. Not to mention the fact that although this isn't a replacement for the Blue Bomber, I wonder how Capcom themselves will react to this. I keep seeing a lot of comments on how Capcom's lawyers are foaming at the mouth.

Don't play with fire, kids.
I'm not even a Megaman fan, and I donated $20 to this.

So, what do you guys think of the Mighty Numbers that have been revealed so far? For reference:

No. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6

Please give us an Ice-based, or a Poison-based Mighty No, and I will love it always.

Funny you should mention that, Spirit. I was just watching a video from Gaijin Goombah the other day about hiragana and katakana.

Bottom line is, No. 2 is Water, Ice, and Poison as his backpacks indicate. To the left of his "comcept art", the orb backpack has "mizu" (water) next to it, the square one has "reizouko" (refrigerator), and the vial with a skull on it has "yakuhin" (poison).

Here are the hiragana and katakana sheets from the video I linked.

If any of these links don't work for you, try highlighting the URL in the address bar and hitting enter. Someone on TV Tropes taught me that one.

Unfortunately, there's no kanji sheet to help us translate the rest, but that's understandable since Gaijin himself said that would be, like, +5,000 characters.

I honestly wish the artists put in some furigana next to the kanji as well...
