I'm Dante~
|
Soooooooo, I was drawing a thing with characters from PRP. And then this happened. Yep. (Scene: a breezy spring day) Kouya stood in front of a certain ramen shop ten minutes before appointed. He stared at his watch, slowly counting down the seconds. His breathing and heartbeat picked up due to his anxiety. I wonder if she hates me Kouya thought Maybe she’s just going to stand me up or something... Kouya shook his head. If his girlfriend accepted him after all he’s done, she couldn’t possibly hate him... much. For the next nine minutes, Kouya constantly smoothed out the wrinkles in his shirt, adjusted the sleeves on his jacket, and straightened out his hair. Every breeze moved some part of his clothing or hair just a little bit. Kouya had to fix it. Amidst his constant adjustments, Kouya failed to notice the small figure walk out of the ramen shop. In her usual small red jumper and blouse, Chiyo Maita walked up to her boyfriend. Chiyo tapped him on the shoulder, “Kouya-kun?” She said softly. Kouya was so focused on straightening a stray lock of hair that he turned toward the person who tapped him on the shoulder and walked right into them. “Ah!” Chiyo was knocked back slightly from the collision. “Huh?” the small impact snapped Kouya out of his moronic tidying. His eyes shot open, “Oh Chiyo! I’m so sorry!” Kouya backed up suddenly and tripped over himself, landing flat on the concrete sidewalk below. Smooth, let’s pay attention more, shall we? his persona chuckled. Kouya got up and brushed himself off. He put a hand on Chiyo’s shoulder and looked worryingly into her eyes. “Are you alright?” Chiyo laughed at her boyfriend’s worry. “I’m fine, Kouya-kun~” Chiyo pecked Kouya on the cheek for his troubles. She backed up and offered her hand to him, “Come on.” she said smiling. Kouya sheepishly took her hand and they began walking. Both Kouya and Chiyo had a light blush on their cheeks as they walked down the sidewalk in silence. Kouya was about to say something, but couldn’t. He tried to look at Chiyo again, but couldn’t bring himself to. He felt the guilt from his past actions begin to rise in him. He looked away, the smile that formed on his mouth disappearing. I can’t believe how I was back then. I.. I wanted her dead. How can she forgive me so easily? Kouya sighed. He wanted to ask Chiyo about it, but he thought she was avoiding the topic on purpose. Chiyo was happily walking along, but noticed Kouya’s deep sigh. “Kouya, what’s wrong?” she asked. “It’s nothing.” He lied without looking back at Chiyo. The two continued the walk in silence until they came to a park with stands selling food and couples much like them walking about and enjoying each other’s presence. Except Kouya wasn’t quite enjoying it. “There’s something up,” Chiyo said, “C’mon, tell me.” She tugged on Kouya’s arm and looked up at him. “You’re worrying about something.” “It’s nothing, come on.” Kouya pulled Chiyo along to a crepe stand, “Two please.” He said to the persona tending the counter. Chiyo glared at Kouya and let go of Kouya’s hand to cross her arms. “Buying sweets won’t silence me. I’m gonna find it out.” Kouya ignored her and grabbed the dessert crepes. The two walked to a bench under the shade of a tree and Kouya handed Chiyo a crepe without saying a word. He began slowly eating it, working his way slowly down the ice cream and fruits. Chiyo didn’t begin eating hers right away, instead watching as Kouya devoured his. “Oh?” Chiyo scooted closer to Kouya on the bench and brought her face up to his, “Hold still” She licked a dab of whipped cream on his cheek, causing Kouya to freeze in place. “All gone~” Chiyo chuckled as she sat back. Kouya blushed intensely, but his expression didn’t change and he just turned away from Chiyo. “Oh come on!” Chiyo pouted and handed Kouya her crepe, “I’m going to the restroom.” Chiyo walked around and hid behind the tree to spy on Kouya. Kouya sat slacked his position a little. He finished his crepe and tossed the napkin holding it in to a nearby garbage container. Kouya walked back to the bench and returned to his slacked position. He placed his hand over his face and groaned. “I’m such an idiot.” Chiyo raised an eyebrow and leaned in closer to listen, staying hidden behind the tree. “What am I gonna do?” He said to himself, “I can hardly look at her without feeling the guilt eating at me.” “Girl troubles?” An old lady standing in front of him asked, “May I sit here? Or are you waiting for someone?” “No, it’s fine.” “Thank you, dear.” The lady slowly sat down and set her purse next to her. “Now, about the girl-” “There’s no girl.” Kouya interrupted. Chiyo huffed slightly at Kouya’s remark. “Dear, if I’ve learned something in my old age, I can tell if a young man is having girl troubles.” She pointed at the crepe in Kouya’s hand. “It’s melting.” “Ah!” Ice cream dripped onto Kouya’s fingers. He quickly ran back to the trash can and threw it away, licking the ice cream off of his fingers. Chiyo blushed slightly at this. “As I said, there’s no girl. No one for me, anyway…” “You can tell me, dear, I’m just an old woman. I won’t tell a soul.” “Well,” Kouya sat back down, “I.. I wronged this… friend of mine, and she- they forgave me. Sort of. They never really said anything about it, and are acting as if nothing ever happened. The guilt is eating me alive.” “If they haven’t said anything, then they’ve probably forgiven you. If it’s still bothering you, talk to them.” The old lady glanced at Chiyo behind the tree and winked. “Well, I must be going, deary. Good day.” The old lady picked up her purse, stood up, and bowed. Kouya stood up and bowed deeply. “I’m sorry for bothering you.” Kouya said to the ground. The old lady waved goodbye and walked away. Kouya sat back down and sighed, “It’s not as simple as talking to her about it.” He muttered. Chiyo walked out from behind the tree and approached Kouya from behind. She leaned and wrapped her arms gently around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder. “I don’t hate you.” She said, her breath warm on his ear. Kouya tensed. Had she heard the entire conversation? Of course she did, you dolt. He placed a hand on her arm, “I wanted you dead. Just to save my own hide.. I’m the worst kind of person, Chiyo. How can you love someone like that?” “That was part of you. You’ve outgrown that,” she leaned her head against his, “I fell for the real you. The kind, noble, dedicated you.” “...” Kouya looked down in shame. “I can’t face you right now. Not like this. It doesn’t feel right. At one point, I would’ve killed you with my own hands given the chance.” “Then don’t.” Chiyo let go of Kouya and walked around the bench to sit next to him. She leaned up against him and rested her head on his shoulder, “Just look forward.” The two sat like that for a Long While. As night fell, the two walked in silence back to the ramen shop hand in hand. At the door, Chiyo turned to Kouya, “Can you look at me now? It’s dark out, so I can’t really tell.” Kouya slowly looked down at the bright eyes of the girl in front of him. There was no hate or anger in them. “I’m.. I’m sorry for the lame date. I’m sorry for how I acted at that time. I’m sorry-” Chiyo pressed a finger against his lips. “I forgive you.” Kouya couldn’t move. He couldn’t think. In this moment, he was happier than he had been in a long time. A great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He smiled and grabbed Chiyo’s hand with both of his. He kneeled on one leg, bowing his head. “From now on, I, Kazeyuki Kouya, vow to do anything I can to protect you, Maita Chiyo.” Kouya kept his head down and blushed madly. It was quite embarrassing what just said. But he meant it. Chiyo covered her mouth in surprise at first, thinking that Kouya was perhaps proposing (Nawww), but slowly dropped her hand and smiled. “Kouya?” Kouya looked up at Chiyo, “Yes?” “愛してる” Kouya was met with a pair of lips gently pressed against his. He felt all his guilt and fear melt away. Waves of passio- Well, you know: They kissed. Edited by THEkingroxas, Oct 3 2013, 10:53 PM.
