Shawn was awake... before dawn. He needed to make sure that the surrounding area was still uninhabited. He never met a centar, and while he would like to meet one, Chances of conflict where unknown to him, and he would rather not risk it. He was alarmed to notice his dagger was missing. He unsheathed his sword, (His fathers sword!) He remebered, and take a look around. There camp was inbetwwen two trees, on flat land. His "tent" was made out of leaves laced to branches, and was supported by the two trees. There was a burned out campfire in a spot where no grass or leaves resided. He cleared thouse out before starting the fire. In every direction, there seemed to be nothing. He checked inside the tent, finding Claira, a 7 year old human girl, that he became freinds with, and even sees her as his own daughter. Though, she was not. He found her like himself, in a city, without a family or home. Ah yes, she had the dagger. He came up with the soulition that she was afraid, as she ussaly is, and decided to take the dagger for her own safty. It wasn't the first time. He sighed, took his dagger as softly as he could, carful not to wake her, and sheathed it. He went outside, and restarted the camp fire. He then took out a sharp stick, and a rabbit he trapped eailer. He began to cook it.

A cool breeze swept over the plains, caressing every blade of grass and gently jostling flowers in its way. A figure stood out in the wide open plain. A wide brim hat adorned the head of what looked to be a female troll. The troll welcomed the breeze with her face before leaning back down to pluck some herbs from the earth. Kutaka knew it to be a fine day, and had decided to gather supplies a day earlier than usual. She wandered here and there, collecting whatever herbs were needed. The Plains of Levirus were one of the few lands Morgrom allowed her to wander so freely. Of course, centaurs were not the type to kill outsiders on sight.

Kutaka strode forward another few steps, looked about, and made her way around a boulder. She would probably find a mushroom or two for cooking.

Dawn has just breaked wehn Claira came out of the tent. Instinticly, In the cool morging, She sat by Shawn, who was now cutting a cooked rabit. As she came down to sit, she leaned near Shawn, tired from restless sleep. "Your up early." Shawn said. Claira didn't respond, which was normal. "Something bothering you?" He said. He patted her far shoulder, and drew her close. "Come on, you can speak, why don't you?" She smiled, and pushed away. Shawn pushed back lightly, then she. He pushed a bit harder back, untill she pushed him down, both laughing out loud.

As she had expected, some mushrooms had grown around the base of the boulder. Kutaka bent down to gather a few handfuls. What was that? Laughing?
The troll stood upright to scan her surroundings. There! Off to the distance, there seemed to be some trees and between those trees was a tent. Curious as ever, Kutaka shifted into a ghost wolf. She began crawling towards the direction of her attention, belly nearly scraping against the earth as she did so.

Shawn stopped. He heard something... He wasn't sure what, but he knew he heard a small sound, off in the distance, south? No... Maybe a bit southeast... He pushed Claira off him. She seemed confused at first, but understood when he gripped his sword. She instinctively got behind him. He looked around, and found some dust rising, off in the distance. He stood there. He wasn't expecting anything this morning, and he wasn't in his armor... though the rusted copper probably wouldn't do anything for him.

Kutaka let loose a sneeze. She had not noticed all the dust kicked up by her eager paws. Her wolf belly now met with the earth as she attempted to be a bit more stealthy with her approach. There was plent of tall grass to hide herself in and so she flattened her wolfish-self as much as possible as she crawled. Even her tail was tucked away.

Shawn looked on. It all stopped... The dust just stopped. Could it be a creature fighting with another? or maybe a bird in for landing. In any event, he couldn't tell. He was going to go investigate when he felt a tug from behind him. Claira must have seen it to, and his own alertness must have worried her further. He turned around, down no his knees, and took her shoulders. "Claira," He said, "I got to... go see what is going on, could you please stay here?" She shook her head. "Claira, please." She stamped her foot and shook her head. He looked back to make sure the wasn't anything, then looked back and said. "Fine... stay close to me." He ventured into the grass, Claria right behind him.

The shaman figured she was close by now. Perhaps a few yards more and she would be able to observe the strangers from afar. Maybe one little peek would help her gauge how far away she was? Kutaka could risk getting spotted, but she could hold her ground if attacked. She raised her head, barely seeing over the tall grass. To her surprise, the two strangers were already heading her way. Quickly lowering her head, she hoped they had not noticed. Kutaka began making her way around the two in an effort to not get caught.

Shawn saw something out of the corner of his eye. But when he looked, it wasn't there, so he didn't know exactly where it was. He halted Claira behind him, gripped his sword, and proceed, slowly.

Kutaka was now already off to the side. She was long gone from her previous spot. This was an opportunity to get a clearer look at the other outsiders. A young man was making his way to her old spot, ready to swing his sword at a moment's notice. Behind him stood a little girl, not even in her adoloscent ages yet. They looked friendly enough, and as if they did not eat well often.

The shaman considered her options. There was the choice to simply leave and never speak a word to them. Of course, that was never going to happen. It was part of her nature to be amiable towards any she met. The decision made, Kutaka shifted back into her normal form.

"Greetings, mon! How ya be doing?" shouted Kutaka. They were at least a yard away from each other.

Shawn startled, Claira took a step back, gasping. Shawn stared. There was a... a... Troll! A Troll! About a yard away from him. Claira was ready to say her prays, it seemed. He took his hands off sheath, but stood there ready to jump. The troll said a greeting, so he might as well say something back. "Just... Fine."

The young man had taken his hand off his sword. Good. This gave Kutaka a bit more hope. She placed a hand on her hip and pointed with the other at the little girl.

"Fine? Ya two seem ta be a bit on da din side. Maybe ya all be liddle hungry, mon? I be makin' a stew soon and ya two be welcome ta join me." The troll gave her best smile possible. She loved cooking. Even more so when she had the chance to get strangers to try her cooking.

Shawn stood there. There was a "female" by the looks of it, troll, asking, no, telling him that he looked like he didn't get much to eat, and if he would like some stew. He considerd the options. Option one: He didn't know the troll, so best to just say good bye, and head back to camp. And two: He could go to her home, and eat the stew... That rabit he just cooked and ate was exactly filling. He would go with two... But he wondered, did this troll live with other trolls? He would have to find out, for right now, He didn't know what to say except "Yes... that would be... Fine"

"Ya liddle one can walk behind ya if she be frightened. I've nudting on me person if'n dat make ya feel better." Kutaka raised her arms up.
It was true that she had no weapons on her today. This did not mean she was altogether defenseless: the elements would heed her call of aid if she so needed it.
She gestured for the two to follow her lead, heading for a grove of trees not too far off. The others were probably out trapping game to add to her stew. Hopefully these humans had seen orcs before, and if not, then they were about to be in for a huge surprise.

Shawn motioned for Claira to follow him, as he followed the troll. He didn't like this, but food was short around here... A little while on the walk, he asked "How far is your home?"

"My home? Dat be ah day or two away, mon. My hut be on Zumanah Island. My camp? It be in dat dere grove of trees. There be a nice empty space in da centah." explained Kutaka, motioning towards the grove that they were fast approaching.
The smoke from the fire could be seen rising pass the tops of the trees. Already the air was heavy with the scent of her stew. Lavender, rabbit, and a hint of honey. Honey? She sniffed again. Ah, Morgrom had set about to brewing some tea as well. Her pace quickened with the thought of her mentor's tea. For an orc, Morgrom was good at it.

Shawn slowed a bit, Claira stopped completely, fearing whatever was withen the grove. Shawn stopped, and turned around. "Claira, come on, don't you want to eat?" Claira shook her head. Shawn sighed, took Claira's hand and said "Come on, I'll hold you hand." Only after half a minute, would she go on.

The camp was empty. The three orcs had gone for the time being to do their own errands. Two pots hung over a campfire, one held the stew and the other tea. Kutaka busied herself with the tea first, removing the lid from the small pot. The sweet scent of honey filled her nostrils. Morgrom had added an extra dose of honey: this meant he was in a better mood than usual. The troll grabbed a dry rag of cloth in each hand, lifting the pot away from the fire to cool. Then, she motioned for her two new companions to take a seat on any of the stools. From a sack at the other side of camp, she removed from within three mugs and promptly filled them with the honey tea. Two of these cups she gave to the humans.
"Ya be likin' it. I know it. Not ah time dat anyone taste dat tea and say dat it be bad, mon. Go ahead, take ah sip!" encouraged Kutaka.

She then went to her stool and removed the contents of her pouches. All sorts of herbs littered the ground before her as she cleaned the mushrooms she had collected. After a thorough, yet quick cleaning of the mushrooms, she chopped them up on a wooden board and threw them into the pot. Then the diced carrots, onions, and leeks. She gave the stew a stir before adding pinches of salt and throwing in more herbs accompanied by tomatoes. The air around the camp started to weigh heavily with the scent of her cooking. It smelled almost like home.
"So what be ya names? I'd like ta call ya someting else udda than 'umans. Ya can call me Kutaka."

bige-deadman

Shawn took a sip of his tea, and found it delisous, and Claira seemed to have a simmilar though, for she wouldn't stop drinking it. The troll... Kutaka, her name was apperntly, asked for their names. "My name is Shawn... Shawn Amberson, and this is Claira." After setting the "empty" tea cup down, he looked around, and noted the cooking stew, as Kutaka was putting salt into it.

The surface of the stew was slowly being breached by bubbles. It was just about done. Kutaka gave the stew a few last stirs before removing it from the fire, setting it down on the grass. She went to and fro again, retrieving wooden bowls and spoons. Each of these she filled graciously before handing it to Shawn and Claira. She patted the girl on the head, attempting to seem less frightening if she was at all.

The stew was a hearty meal, thick and creamy. The lavender acted as a calming agent, allowing one to relax when consumed. Every thing else was coated in the thickness of the stew. The diced carrots, onions, and leeks stayed afloat at the surface. The chunks of rabbit meat remained in the depths of the bowl. Little bits of red poked out here and there. Those were the tomatoes.
