Rahklar led the group through the maze of stalls. Vendors shouted from every side about their wares along with the prices. It became almost impossible to stop moving once the group had dwelved deeper into the mass of people; if you stopped, there was a definite chance that one would be jostled and pushed about. Orgok took up the rear to ensure no one would get lost. The humidity of the jungle made Rahklar and Orgok sweat with all the clothing and armor they had on. Morgrom and Kutaka fared better since as they were both lightly dressed. Kutaka had since changed out of her armor before the arrival of Shawn, Claira, Morgrom, and Orgok. She was dressed in simple native clothing that revealed her belly and much of her legs. Some of the male trolls passing by snuck a few glances at her swaying hips.
The throng of people lessened and with it the noise of trade. They were all approaching a hut that appeared ominous from the outside. Shrunken heads hung around wooden pikes staked into the ground, forever lost in darkness for their eyes were all stitched shut as well as their mouths. Smoke drifted out from the hut accompanied by a strange stench that was niether pleasant nor terribly vile. Mystical fetishes adorned the walls of the hut, bones, claws, and all sorts of other items.
Kutaka now took the lead, guiding all of them into the hut. A troll stood over a bubbling cauldron chanting in another language. She wore a voodoo mask and various clothing associated with witchdoctors. Around her shelves of jars containing eyeballs, bats, and grotesque or bizarre things glowed green from the light of the cauldron. The witchdoctor looked up from her work.
"Ahhh, da adventarers have arrived! Come. come. Approach da calldrun." she beckoned.
Kutaka went first.
"Ja be havin' what I ask fo, shamon?"
Kutaka removed a pouch from that hung about her waist and handed it to the witchdoctor. The contents of which were kept secret since the witchdoctor did not bother to open it.
"Ah, yes. I sense da powwa. Ja bargain be filled! Now it be mah turn. Hold ja hands out." the witchdoctor ordered.
Morgrom, Orgok, and Rahklar now stood by Kutaka. They each held one hand out above the cauldron. The witchdoctor cut their hands with a crude stone knife and watched the blood trickle down into the green bubbling liquid. She stared into the cauldron from behind the voodoo mask.
"Dis be strange! Da magic not be showin' me all da path. Sumting changed!"
They murmured amongst themselves before realizing Orgok's choice to invite Shawn and Claira must have been the change.

Shawn walked behind the group, alone, as Claira was atop on Rahklar still. The surrounding area was intresting enough, with vendors selling, and arugging with customers. He nearly chuckled at the site of two trolls going out into the street, arugging, stalling the flow of people. Eventually, the flow of people thinned out, and they came to an elaborate hut. A few shrunken heads where hung here and there on wooden pikes. Claira was easily spooked by these, and jumped off the orc, landing nimbly on the ground, and walked over to Shawn, grabbing his hand. Kutaka appeared to be speaking to a female witch doctor at one point, and they all entered the hut. Bones, claws, and other things where hung along the hut. He looked around the room, until he realized the group was now staring at him. "What is wrong?" He asked.

"Ja blood, we need ja ta give. Da liddo one too." explained the witch doctor.
"It not be bad, mon. We can give Claira a liddo cut." assured Kutaka as she bandaged her hand.
The witch doctor stood, waiting for Shawn and Claira to approach the cauldron. Morgrom, Orgok, and Rahklar had finished bandaging their hands by now as well and stared at their human companions.
"You may choose to stay here, until we return from the quest. It is a dangerous one and I'm sure Orgok forgot to mention that to you. You will not have to provide your blood in that case." said Rahklar.

Shawn considered the options momentary. It was dangerous, but so was the bandits he had to deal with every now and then, and the pirate attack. This could be more dangerous, and Claira could get hurt in the process, but this is why he left his home town. He looked at Claira, who nodded, understanding him completely. They looked at the witch doctor, then both helf out their hands over the cauldron.

The witch doctor brought the stone knife across Shawn's hand the same way she did for the rest. When it came to Claira, she brought the knife gently but quickly over the little girl's hand. The cut was smaller, barely drawing blood. One single drop formed and trickled down Claira's hand into the cauldron. The witch doctor stared into the bubbling green liquid again. Whatever she saw with her eyes, they could not.
"Ahhh, da vision be clearer now. Ja all be havin' great trouble with da quest, I not be knowin' if ja all live. Though, great riches be waitin' at da very end. Oh? What's this? Da liddo one be receivin' knowledge! Da fates not be havin' me explain. Dis I can only tell. Dere be one more ting.... when da darkness comes the liddo one must lead. Da one of shadows must not lose himself. Da two of strength must not hate. Da two of mudda earth must go wit da elements." explained the witch doctor.

Shawn looked at Claira carefully, as he applied a small bandage to her hand. The little one must lead, he thought. As for the rest, he had an idea of who was who. He was applying a bandage to his hand, when he asked, "Is there anything else we must do here?" He picked up Claira, as she inspected her bandage.

"No, we leave now. Thank you for your aid, witch doctor." announced Rahklar.
The witch doctor nodded and continued her rituals. Everyone filed outside of the hut with Kutaka taking up the lead. They ventured farther into the jungle, until they reached a small village. A few children ran around playing games as the adults watched. Kutaka led everyone to the inside of her hut.
It was a humble little place. A single bed took up most of the space along with a small table to dine on. There was a fire pit situated in the center so that the smoke could drift up to the roof of the hut and out the hole.
Everyone settled themselves on a stool. Kutaka chose to sit on her bed.

Shawn sat on one of the stools in the small hut, Claira was on his lap. He sighed, before saying, "What have I gotten myself into."
His hand smacked his forhead. "Honeslty, I have no idea where we are going or what, and that witch doctor confused me further." He sat up. "If any of you could lighting the way, I would be glad." He said.

"Shawn. You just agreed to go on an adventure with us that we were hired into. It is mercenary work, yes, but it is honest mercenary work. We only take jobs that involve finding lost artifacts or retrieving stolen items, things like that." Rahklar coughed. "Now, the thing is... this particular job will require us to venture all over the world as we know it. From Zumanah to Taki-Tako and to Duran then Fjallheim, the roads will be dangerous."
Kutaka had stood up at this point, preparing a meal to be cooked for everyone. Orgok had popped open two of his drinking horns; one for him and the other for Morgrom.
“The witch doctor we just met is honest in all her readings. You see, we go to her often for advice on our journeys. I can only assume that by, ‘great riches’, she meant the gold we are to receive after our task is complete. We will split this with you. The rest… I am unable to discern until the time comes.”

Shawn listened to what Rahkalr said. They would be traveling over much of the world, including his homeland, Duran. He straightened up, before saying "I assume you know at least a few of these lands, including Duran right?" He didn't like the particular idea of going to Duran, but if it must be done so, it must. Claira at the mentioning of Duran seemed to start to listen. Shawn could only guess what she though about this.

“We know most of them. Perhaps not every little village and town, but we know them all well enough. Kutaka is our cartographer. She has maps of every place we have ever gone to.” confirmed Rahklar. “Now, our first leg of the journey involves exploring a ruined temple here on Zumanah.”
“I not be likin’ da place we be goin’. Dere be bad spirits! I know dere be bad mojo.” chimed Kutaka.
"Hush, child. We all know your hesitation with the temple." replied Morgrom.

But first, apparently, they had to get some supplies from the marketplace. They ventured to a nearby one, where, The scene was alike that of the one in the docks. Trolls or goblins shouting from stalls, crowds so large, one must be careful not to get oneself lost. As he looked around the stalls, he walked up to Rahkalr, and asked, "What can be found in a stall on this island?"

"Well, we must get antidotes. Zumanah is full of venomous creatures. Restock on bandages, dried fruits and meats, and medicine as well. Do you have coin for all of these?" asked Rahklar.
Orgok and Morgrom were no longer with them. The two had disappeared into the crowd to start their preparations first. Kutaka stood next to Rahklar, awaiting the next move.

"I have about 24 gold pieces, that is all." Shawn said. He looked over at Claira, who was right behind him, and said, "Claira has a few herself, but I don't know how many." He looked at Rhaklar, and asked, "I do not know the rates of money around here though... Would the amount of money I have suffice?" He held up a bag from his waist.

Rahklar reached under his cloak and pulled out a pouch, dropping it into Shawn's hand. It was hefty for its size.
"There's another 100. Medicine, dried fruits and meats, bandages, and antidotes. Buy enough to last three days. Kutaka will guide you through the stalls while I attend to some other business." informed Rahklar.
He took his leave and left Kutaka standing next to the two foreigners.
"Ja be in good hands, mon." smiled Kutaka.
She led the way to the first stall with all sorts of vials containing strange liquids. The vendor smiled at her, bartering all the while. After ten minutes back and forth, the goblin agreed to sell the two lots for thirty gold pieces each. Kutaka paid for her lot first.
"Now, ja pay for yours."

Shawn gave 30 gold pieces to the vendor, and picked up his lot, and they proceeded to the next stall, which appeared to sell diffrent kinds of fruits and meats. The same procces happened over and over from that point on. Shawn had t stop several times to get Claira to follow him, for she would be staring at some stalls that had, say, some mechanical toys that intrigued her, or even a crystal that would gather heat in the day, and warm a room at night. They came to one last stall where they had some medical supplies, such as bandages.

The bandages were inexpensive, and the medicine was a decent price. Kutaka ran a checklist through her head.
"Dat should be all."
Before she could even get one step back towards their original spot, a arm shot out to block her way. It was a male troll with large tusks and semi-large nose. He grinned at Kutaka. The two spoke in their native language as if they were affectionate. That was until Kutaka delivered a straight shot to the male troll's groin. He dropped to the floor groaning in pain as his friends in the background laughed.
"Come. Let us leave dis place." said Kutaka.
She walked back in a rather hussy mood.

Shawn sighed as they walked away from the male troll, who was now in the procces of yelling at his friends in their native langauge. He already had an idea of what had transpired, and chose not to think about it, prefering to just leave the place to the jungle. They where just entering the jungle, when Shawn decided to ask, "What is the nature of the temple we are visting?"

"It be one of bad worship. Ya evah heard of dem bad trolls? Da calts we call dem. It be one of dem old temples before dey summon da wrong ting. Now, it be abandoned. I know dere be bad mojo dere, but we have ta go ta get a piece of da artifact." explained Kutaka.
Morgrom, Orgok, and Rahklar had already gathered at the appointed spot.
"Has everyone gathered all their supplies?" asked Rahklar.
Everyone nodded in unison.
"Well, let us begin our journey."
The group marched for what seemed like hours on end. Tropical trees surrounded them every side. Hissing sounds from unknown potentially venomous serpents and creatures. Insects of every variety and size hopped, skittered, and chirped.

bige-deadman

As the time passed on their journey, so did the light. The dense tropical forest seemed to caused the light to dissapear much quicker. The sun hadn't even fully set. The tropical setting turned to its night setting, with new sorts of creatures making noises and/or appearances. At one point, a snake even snapped at Claira, but Shawn pulled her back, seeing the green reptile suddenly slither. Finnaly, they reached the aceint temple, which appeared to be made out of large blocks of stone, covered in moss. Numerous totems surrounded the temple, and some strange writing was around the front of the temple. The canopy of the jungle was less dense here, allowing some moonlight to reach the temple door, so reading would not be a problem as long as one knew the langue.
