 The first thing you need to do is open up the image you want to perform the effect on. I created this simple gradient as an example, and you can use it if you want. This tutorial has only three steps, and creates an effect that might be good as a faded overlay, or maybe even a background. I found that the effect looks good when trying to make retro graphics.  The next thing you need to do is find the Lighten/Darken brush on the floating PSP menu. Once you find it, click on it and choose the Hue brush. Use the setting to the right to get the desired effect. You can change them if you would like. Using a small sized brush allows for more color variation when you start brushing.  Finally, begin brushing over the image. Start off with simple strokes back and forth, and then continue brushing all over the place. Once you have the effect you want, save the file, and maybe add some text, renders, or whatever else you want. This looks good for 70's graphics, and I hope you enjoy it. I personally think it looks more like warped glass than tie dye. |
