This tutorial will show you how to make great looking brushes, with a tech type effect. Brushes can be used in Photoshop to apply special effects to digital images.

Open photoshop and create a new 400px by 400px document with a transparent background. Make sure you have the rulers enabled (CTRL+R). Get the Polygonal Lasso tool (make sure you have feather set at 0). Make two triangles using the guides (one at the top and one at the bottom of the canvas).

Now click Filter -> Distort -> Twirl and play with the twirl settings until you get something you like. It looks best when the center has made at least one revolution.

Get the Magic Wand tool and select one of the two triangles. Once selected press shift, which adds a little addition sign (+) to the Magic Wand tool. Now press delete button on your keyboard (may vary between OS). Select Edit -> Fill and fill the area with a pattern, color, or gradient overlay. You can either crop the image or you can transform the image and then crop it. You also can use a feather and / or make a gradient out of it (Select Layer Transparency and press Delete, and then get the Gradient tool out and use it). Experiment with the final result.
