Macromedia Studio 8 is coming out and I can't wait to mess around with it. The prices have been lowered and the features improved. What does everybody think about this newest version of Macromedia. I hate the boxing though. The Studio MX boxing was better, hehe

anyway, the official link is http://www.macromedia.com/software/studio/

heh I was part of a discussion about this on the kirupa forums. Anyway the new features are definately what interests me most. Im not really too excited over programs though. I cant shed the feeling that this is just a gimmick that will get us to buy it. It certainly is impressive, but I wouldnt really want to buy new editions of this or that, just because they look flashy. I agree with zeerus though, the boxing doesnt really sell me it. I think they could've done something more creative with it. The name studio 8 reminds me of an 8 ball so they couldve played along those lines. Im definately going to start saving up anyway.

I wouldn't purchase it, now that I am seriously thinking of it. Sure, it would count as a tax deduction for me, but it doesn't matter. Now that Macromedia is owned by Adobe, it's a waste of money. I would rather wait until Macromedia and Adobe put out a program line cooperatively. It would have the best of both lines, and would accomodate all types of designers. Could you imagine Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash all in one package, synchronized together for easy integration and linking?

oooh, the thought is just nipping away at my mind. I can't wait for it. But now that Adobe and Macromedia have released their new lines, CS2 and Studio 8, we designers will probably have to wait at least another year and a half for a new series.

hmm, didnt really want to revive an old thread but this one still could be useful. Im particularly interested in flash 8 and its new features. http://agencynet.com/ (may require flash 8 player) is a good example of how flash 8 can manipulate video. While only some of the people move, its still pretty interesting. The added features are somewhat adobe-related, with the blend modes and such. Though I agree with you zeerus, a co op effort between macromedia and adobe would surely create something great. Maybe in the near future, there'll be some photoshop-flash hybrid, bringing in photoshop's great filters and tools, and adding the functionality and vector tools of flash. I havent had a chance to look at the new features on the other programs yet. I suspect that heaps of bugs have been fixed and studio 8 runs smoothly.

Its good that macromedias released flash 8 player. It makes flash sites, movies, etc. run fairly smoothly on my old computer. Be sure to check out each section, they have great interactivity. The news page is one of my favourites.

[edit: I'll be entering a flash animation competition in the hope of winning a student version of studio mx 2004. Does anyone know if your allowed to upgrade this student version to a commercial version of studio 8? That would save me a tonne of money if I win and choose to get it later on.]

umm...*coughs*...is this new studio 8 u speak of..I already have it...dont ask me how...hehehe..
But to be honest I dont see the difference its probably caue Im a noob at flash,...and I cant do crap on it..I really want to learn but I dont know were to start. You know it sucks having all the programs in the world..and not being able to use em...look what I have:
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004
Flash Mx 2004
Photo Shop CS2
and I dont even use Flash.... I just use Photo shop CS and Front page..cause dreamweaver is too difficult to use...
anyways...I could help u get the full version of Studio 8 and it wont cost you...but due to some legal reasons I wont say...and Im sure u wouldnt want to know anywyas...
Im really dissapointed in myself as a designer...but I guess that will all end since im taking a College course on Graphic/Digital/ Design.....Im looking forward..
if you know any websites that teach the basics of flash..please let me know..
but the one thing I do know how to use is Photo Shop and CS2 is amazing....
well thats my take on the subject..
I could get every single program thats out there...but I wont ....cause I cant even use em...lol
Its too late its too late....they wont let go...they wont let go...follow my foot steps through that open door...open door....It must be very under the heart that makes this place so insane youll find in time that the gates have been upon

O_O

Wow, nice line up of programs. So you use the programs in studio 8 in conjunction with your other programs O_o. I just have to say though, if you're planning on making a career out of graphic design, then be careful if you use... illegal copies of programs. Im not accusing of anything >_o but I dont know if its the same where you live, but here I think you get audited before entering the field or something.

The new features in flash 8 seemed small to me at first. But you have advanced video control which can help you achieve things that you werent able to before. Also they're adding photoshop features such as drop shadow, blurs and blend modes so you can do that straight in flash.

Try flashkit.com. Its not the most noob-friendly navigation, but if you dig around enough you'll find something useful (:

BTW- go the extra mile and get used to/learn dreamweaver @_O, it'll save you a lot of hassle later on. I used to use dreamweaver a lot too, but now I'm taking my chances with using notepad >.> .

um, Missingo, you don't have Studio 8. You have Studio MX 2004. Studio 8 is the newest version, which just came out this month. It is much better then MX 2004. and as far as your 'illegal' programs, don't discuss them here.

piracy is just plain wrong in all situations, and I'd be in the right to report you to Adobe, but I'm not going to.

Okay okay, lets cool it there. No need to throw around names. Let this topic settle for a while, before one of us bites off more than they can chew.

Zeerus, unfortunately studio 8 has been uhh... hacked? I was on a yahoo chatroom just for fun and a few people there were bragging about their cracked versions. As for the 'minor' improvements, when used by someone experienced, they trully make a difference.

I know Studio 8 has been cracked. It's not that hard, and I could make my own crack if I wanted to, but I won't because I'm against piracy. and I never said that Studio 8 didn't make a difference

Missingo, if you have Studio 8 then why did your list of programs include the MX 2004 lineup? oh yeah, your warning's been increased just for your lack of respect.

the reason I don't allow discussion of illegal programs is because it's against the InvisionFree TOS. If they see this discussion they could close down the entire forums and delete my account. so please keep it clean.

I have nothing against any of you, and don't want any arguments. As far as the rich kid comment, I'm not rich, and make just enough money to support myself and my business. If Francisco is going to continue talking trash about me then I'll make sure he gets what he deserves. hopefully we can forget this ever happened
