The 'how did it all begin' topic sparked my interest, so I thought maybe we could all post our little backgrounds. How did you come to be a member of Abstracted.View? Where did you start your internet/computer/etc. life?

I'll start with mine, to try and get the topic rolling.

About three years back, I started a new school. Back then, I didnt use the internet, and I was really bad at using a computer. Sometime during this year, I met this guy who soon became one of my best friends. He was the one who started me, and pretty much triggered the events that brought me to where I am today. He introduced me to hotmail, pretty simple, but everyone has their starting point. With that, I began to regularly use the internet, talking and browsing the web. Eventually I stumbled onto MSN groups which is pretty much like geocities, but based around small communities. I told my friend about this and soon we both began making seperate MSN groups, or 'sites'. The rest is a bit of a blur, but my friend wasnt as interested as I was in this, so he eventually dropped out. I kept on going. I spent about a year, maybe two on MSN groups. Sometime during this, someone introduced graphics and the idea of web design into the entire community. Everyone seemed to have a copy of photoshop. I did what I could to try and keep up with this, but without that single program, I could only do so much. I used a few basic programs, namely the ones that came with my scanner, and even used paint. Thats right, paint. Now I think I could actually live with paint, using it to make a web layout. But back then... I was the worst noob. The term noob is thrown around a lot these days, but I was literally your stereotypical noob. At least I think I was. This whole thing lasted a couple of months or so, but by then every group had their own 'webdesigner' (I've mentioned this in a previous post). I took a break from technology for a month or so, but came back. I hadnt created a site, or done anything serious for about a year now, and its still like that today. I've been in this sort of 'practicing' stage. I knew I wasnt good back then, so I began improving my work without revealing it to the public. All the MSN groups that I was aware of died off, and everyone went their seperate ways. The rest is too much detail to write, so I'll cut to the point. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, maybe even a couple of months, I was browsing google looking around for some interesting web design articles. First contact with Zeerus began when I stumbled onto this blog, or at least I think it was a blog. I saw one of his comments, and I did what I do best. I dug around. Whenever I find something interesting, I dig until I'm satisfied with how much I know about it. I think I reached Vektorized first, then reached Textonic. Eventually I found my way here. There you have it, my internet/computer/digital design life all in a nutshell.

kool idea, I'll do mine (it is really long so I'll skip a lot):

My dad has been in the computer industry since before I was born so I was bound to meet the computer at an early age. When I was just a baby my twin brother and I would watch our dad on the computer, I really remember him playing games like Wing Commander and such and thinking "wow." SO my dad being in the industry knew it was growing so he brought my bro and me up on it. We learnt math, reading, grammer, spelling, etc.. on learning games such as Reader Rabbit (1-3), Treasure Mountain, & Spellbound to name a few. So at a very early age I knew more about computers then most did at the time. I was playing computer games at that time too, such classics as Oregon Trail & Wing Commander I started to love. When elementry school came there was a computer typing corse we were to take, and the teacher always let my brother and I just do whatever as we knew all that they were teaching us. My young life was speant on the top of the line 66 MhZ Pentium AFL Flyer machine... I grew up most of my life in a rich neighborhood, so I was always asked to help my friends with there computers when I was younger so that started my life of tech help. As I grew the real boom of computers started and prices were dropping dramaticly so more people were getting it. My dad had a big consulting firm when I was younger so I would be with my brother wondering his office going into closets seeing huge servers and laptops of all kinds. I could go on with my computer life, but it would take too long I will now head to my design life....

Well I have been interested in film as long as I remember and my dad knew this. In 1999 whe Digital Comcorders first came out (at least to the general public) my dad bought me one. So now with a camcorder in hand I learnt all about filming. Less than a year later my dad bought me a new G4 (I still use it) and bought me lots of software for it (including Adobe production suite and Final Cut Pro). So, I started graphics in 7th grade with my G4 and used it ever since just learning from trail and error. My dad bought me books and HTML cause he knew it was good and got me dreamweaver too, but I never really got into it. As I got more into film editing I starting using green screens so I got even more into graphics. When I moved in the summer before high school I didn't have much friends cause I use to live on Long Island (which is NY) so I went to graphic to waste time until school started. In school I took TV Production for four years so I did a lot of graphic design, editing, and computer tech help for. I also did tech class which I fixed computers everyday with lots of wierd problems as most teachers don't really know how to use computers.

That is it in a nutshell (I think). I probably missed a lot, but this is the important stuff.
