Ive been lurking around these forums for a while now, and I realised that its been some time since I heard from what you're all up to. So I thought maybe we could each post progress on previously posted projects, whats planned for the near future, whats currently happening, etc. Please feel free to post, whether it be about your internet, work or real life. Since the last time... Hmm lets see, I left off with a number of projects in the works. Studio Red was canned and I started working on something else. I can only refer to it as a 'thing' because its still a vague concept that I have rolling along in my mind. It will have a site, and it will probably be my portfolio site. I wont be doing freelance work till I earn enough money to buy full versions of my programs. Im cleaning the slate and am going to use the trial versions, downloadable at the various sites. (if anyone knows if I'm allowed to use these trial versions to do commercial work, please let me know). I also had my father's website to design. That hasnt progressed very far, I only got one mock up design before I decided that I wouldnt use my programs. So thats pretty much canned, but my dad will understand. I also had some small community relating about the 'thing' I mentioned earlier. Basically I'm going to use it as a promotional device. That hasnt been given much thought. The past two weeks ive been on school holidays. Im planning on entering three school-related competitions. A magazine cover competition (for the school), a student organiser cover competition (for the school next year) and also an animation competition (not for my school, but school related). Ive only layed down a few ideas on these and nothings concrete yet. Two of these are due within less than a week. Im also planning on getting a part time job. I want to start saving up, but I cant apply for one till I get permission from some teachers for a referral on my resume. School starts again after tomorrow. I've been brushing up on my html skills and learning about xhtml and css. Im pretty happy with where I've gotten. I can now make a simple table-free layout off by heart, but I still have a bit more to learn. I might start using the school's programs (studio mx and photoshop) for my portfolio site... if thats allowed >.>. Im starting some traditional art again too. I forgot how enjoyable it actually was. Though I'm a little rusty <.<. Heh Im also planning on visiting my local apple store. Thats pretty much my life. I hope this boosts activity. [note for those of you who are wondering why I'm being obsessive over getting legit copies of programs- Piracy is wrong. Piracy (in relation to programs) includes, distributing illegal copies of programs, accepting illlegal copies, cracking, etc. We all know its bad. Yet tonnes of people do it. Step into a site called newgrounds. The majority of users (when I say majority, I mean around 98%) are using illegal copies of flash. Look at this in someone elses view. Someone else who worked hard to earn these products, legally. If you were them, wouldnt you be pissed off if you saw heaps of other people, skipping the hard work and getting results, illegally? I sure would be. Hmm Zeerus mentioned something similar to this a while back. And its so true. It'll be a lot more satisfying, getting the programs legally and using them. Even if you're just learning with these programs, its still unfair. Thats specifically what the demos were designed for. To get a taste of it. I cant change what I've done in the past, but I can change what I'm doing now and what I will do in the future. If you're serious about a career in an industry that uses these programs, then do things the right way. Then you wont feel guilty. ] |

I guess I'm not that morally strong. If you want to take this up further with me, I'll elaborate on my motives |

Thought I might ad this here instead of starting a new thread- I've got a lot of work piling up on my to-do list and my life is on the verge of falling apart again. I'm going to have to focus on other commitments (school, landing a job, etc.), until they're stable, so unfortunately I'm dropping out of the old west challenge and cant post much (hopefully by the end I'll have some good quality things to discuss rather than needless chit chat). I'll be in and out for the next two days or so. |
