I was ranting on the MickM forum, and I thought that this would be valuable to read here too-
I know I can relate to some of this. I have a friend, who suddenly one day decides that he wants to be a web/graphic designer, all just because he saw the recognition I was getting from my multimedia teacher. Chances are he might think about cracking programs. I cant do anything, because I myself have done that. But if I work hard enough, I will be able to afford the legit versions, then I'll truly be able to tell him off. |

Taking a step back to overlook my view, I might've misinterpreted some things. Mann, I love this thread- http://www.greycobra.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10796 Particularly this line- - by expl0it Just pondering some things in open air- I dont understand the name 'GFX artist' any more. Sounds like graphics artist right? But then people go around calling artwork 'FX work', or something along those lines. Effects work? So would it be graphic effects artist? Or is FX just a shortened down version of GFX which is already a shortened down version of Graphics? Also, the name 'sig designer'... I know calling signatures 'sigs' saves a lot of time, but I cant shake off this feeling that its like some 'l337/veteren' word in the online populus. Do signatures really need designing? |
