welll its time guys, I have started creating my business site, for design resources. It will be called "Panic! Media". The release date is unknown but ive already started making it. Its going to be bases on color, not complexity, rather make the color and lay out in such a way, that it will look professional, and obviously the layout as well will have to do with that. It will be half flash and half HTMl. And since I consider myself family in this forum I will have a link to Abstract.View in the navigation bar, so we can gain more members. Im really excited about this. this will not be just a business website, rather a online community with tutorials, and brushes, and different and free resources. It will be a combination. Im already going to buy the domain name |

Yea, I know on all my other projects, I never did anything, cause I thought I would be working for WFD. but it didnt turn out that way... so what do you guys think of the name? Im still deciding between these: Panic!Media.com Panic!studio.com Panic!designs.com Im liking Panic Media the most. |

one quick note, you can't use special characters like ! in domain names. I personally like Panic! Media the most though. |

Heres one of the little logo or w/e's im still working on coming up with good color schemes.. and lay outs... Please give constructive criticism..and be most brutally honest.. one question though, how do I make just the orb appear, and not the white backround? well here it is

in Photoshop? click on the background layer in the layers palette. Grab the background eraser tool and then just erase the background until you get a white and gray grid. then save it as a transparent GIF or PNG (png has better quality, but displays a gray background in place of transparency when viewing in IE) |

first, open your PSD file. make sure you have the layers window open. now click on the very first layer at the bottom of the list. It should be called Background. now go over to the tools window and select the eraser tool. Right click on it and a menuw ith sub-options should appear. Click on the background-eraser tool. with the Background layer still selected in the layers palette, begin erasing the white background. now go to File -> Save for Web, and from the options choose PNG 24 (or something like that) and then save it |

hmm I like the concept. In your psd file, if you have a background layer (should be at the bottom of the layers list), then erase that. If its just a plain background and you have the ring and stuff on layers above it, then you can just delete that background layer or clear it. Save as png or gif so it keeps its transparency |

Just a few nit picky things on the logo (dont take this offensively). I dunno if photobucket compressed it, but the image looks lossy. I'd prefer seeing a different font on the logo (it currently resembles verdana or tahoma, am I right?) Now looking at the overall green button, the bevel seems a bit sharp, but im not sure what it looks like at its max quality. Overall, keep at it! When you say the site will be half html and half flash, do you mean there will be a flash version and a html version? Or do you mean there will be html, but a flash navigation or something? Try to put a lot of time into the content and choice of words. The design is for the initial hit (to make the viewer continue reading) and the content pulls them in. Good luck with it, hope all goes well for you! In anticipation of my current project, I was thinking about making a 'trailer' image, sampling a taste of the design, colour usage, typograhpy, logo, etc. Id like to see how you envision Panic!Media, maybe you could do the same? |

I agree, the logo was compressed.. But I discarded it completely... Im working on the actual site now.. Im making a better logo, due to the fact I accidently saved that logo without the layers.. its was an accident..but yes, I will be sure to spend extra careful time on this project...It must come out perfect, I have to make sure to make what I intended it to be, will be successful at the end.. |

Well day 1, I created a few fresh Ideas on going with color scheme, and Im testing some other stuff, nothing really for sure now, since for my birthday my uncle bought me a Birthday/Christmas present, called (dreamweaver8) I just started using it..It has the greatest features, but Im like a baby with a ferrari, I dont know how to use it, and Ive done a few things, and its awesome.. anyways, Im gonna realease Verion 0.0 of the site by the end of this week just to have it there, the scheme wont be that great but w/e just so I can play around with some thngs.. and then by January I should have shot out Version 1.0 of Panic media which is my debut release.. well see what happens...so many great ideas in my head. |

Good to hear. Colour and layout are two of my favourite aspects of design. Congrats on receiving dreamweaver! Notepad is sufficient for me, at least for now >.>. |

Hmm its a start. Im not really feelin this design, its a bit bland. Creating an image for your website can be really hard. I'm having one hell of a time myself. You'll get there eventually, just look for sites that you find appealing and 'borrow' design elements (layout, colour scheme, etc). If thats not your liking, then completely original is the way to go. Once again, very hard. A name such as 'Panic!Media' could have such a strong image/feel. I'd suggest following the theme of 'panic'. Use vibrant, active colours. Keep the user in mind. Try and make them feel motivated and attentive after seeing your site. Excite them. You and that name have a lot of potential, it just takes time. Keep at it! |

do something wild and crazy. I have a few sites that may give you some inspiration: http://stylegala.com, http://designshack.co.uk, http://screenspire.com try going with something simple like http://badboy.ro, but use bright, vibrant colors. not all websites have to have the same layout you know, header, nav, content, blah blah blah! |

Yea, thats a good idea, Im still playing with alot of different ideas...and colors.I really like the badboy.ro it simple yet atracting...that what Im trying to go for...something unique, simple, but at the same time appealing.... although to be honest I have no idea how to use CSS stylesheets.....I know im a noob...haha.. |
