I saw in another topic you were all talking about what kinds of computers to get. I'm an avid gamer, and right now I have everything from Counter Strike Source to World of Warcraft to Doom 3 running on my Alienware laptop, and it's starting to ge tsome serious lag well, I looked into Voodoo PC and they look much stronger than my Alienware, but do you think they're really worth $4000. btw, I hope to join a pro gaming league sometime, so i really need a good comp and am willing to pay that much if its really necessary |

Since you're going to be gaming you're going to need a lot of random access memory (RAM) and a good video card (I recomend Nvidia GeForce) you would also need an gaming processor (ATI and AMD are both good brands) in addition you'll need an audio card if you plan on listening to music and playing games. As far as Voodoo computers go, the Envy u:709 looks like a great laptop, just take the hints above and you should have a great gaming system, even if it's a laptop! Hope I could help. Good luck picking out a computer. |

Unless you'll be actually needing the portability of a laptop, id suggest going for a desktop. For a gaming PC, a desktop is a better investment because they can be upgraded and are clearly more powerful. By all means, get a notebook, but just remember the majority of the cost is paying for the technology that went behind making it portable, and if you dont actually need that/use it that much, then your money could be better used for desktop components. With 4 grand, you could go nuts with parts. Customization can be a big thing for gamers. Scrap stock parts and build the thing from scratch. |
