Simmons College is seeking a middle- to senior-level Web Designer. Terms: Salaried Employee with Benefits (Medical, Dental and generous Vacation/Sick days) Hours: Full Time Location: Back Bay/Fens - Boston, MA Department: Web Services - Technology Salary: Salary commensurate with experience What you would be doing (Position Responsibilities): ------------ This position would include the following day-to-day responsibilities: * Maintenance of the official Simmons College web presence according to initiatives set forth by the College's mission, strategy and brand identity * Creating standards-based XHTML, CSS and Javascript driven web-pages according to industry standards and based on internal practices * Contribute to and/or manage key phases of projects scheduled within the Web Services Office such as visual design, information architecture, information organization, technology implementation and production What you would need to know (Requirements and Skills): ------------ The following are requirements of a person in this position: * 3-5+ years experience in web and graphic design * Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Communications or a related field * Proficiency in standards-based XHTML, CSS and Javascript * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Knowledge of user-centered design principles * Excellent team player with the maturity to advocate and develop excellent design while balancing and understanding usability and business requirements. * Experience working with web development professionals in the production of dynamically driven websites using PHP and MySQL The following are skills and experiences that not required, but would be an added benefit to have: * Experience working with interaction designers, user-experience designers, or observing usability testing. * Print and marketing skills. * Extensive knowledge of PHP and back-end programming principles and techniques * Flash and interactive media design experience Where you would be working (About Simmons): ------------ Simmons College is a nationally recognized private university located in the heart of Boston.
