I got: New Dell Inspiron Notebook (1gb RAM, 80gb Hard Drive, etc.) 2 Web Design Magazines Photoshop CS2 for Dummies (note, I'm not a dummy) Teach Yourself Juggling in a week Kit Gift Certificate to Game Attic (local gaming store specializing in classic games) New Adio shoes

Dedicated Member Posts: 512 Group: Admin Member #50 Joined: March 6, 2005	Seems like I'm not the only one who got a laptop for Christmas I got: Dell Inspiron B130 notebook (512 Mb, 60 Gig hard drive, DVD/CD burn drive) Need for Speed Most Wanted (I got busted 3 times becuase I'm a horrible driver) MP3 player (which doesn't work, it had a bunch of songs on it because someone must've forgot to reformat it before they returned it to the factory) Clothes 100 dollars, collectively, from my aunts and uncles

As for a laptop... looks like im still going to have to replace my old bomb with my own money. Still gotta do things my own way, on my own, for thats the only way it gets done. Now that its after christmas, Im not sure if I'm going to get enough shifts to buy a puter and software in a years time. Seems like everyone wants/is getting a laptop. I have two 'friends' (I secretly hate them both), who want laptops around a month after finding out I had one (a 3 year old bomb mind you). They wouldnt have considered it until they found out someone their age had one. Dunno why, but it kinda pisses me off. I tried to keep it a secret, just so it wouldnt make anyone jealous (as if it would...), but now there's going to be two people walking around BRAGGING about their new laptops. But I guess it makes working for my equipment ever so sweeter and more rewarding. BTW, how much were your notebooks? just keep swimming, just keep swimming [note: my internet died so I couldnt check on A.V for messages till now]

Dedicated member Posts: 329 Group: Elite Member Member #70 Joined: May 18, 2005	I got my labtop on November 25th as a Christmas/birthday deal.. with 1025MB and a 99 gigs of ram. Wireless included, blah blah blah, and its a Toshiba M55 series I believe, also its a pentium M. In other words its a great computer, I can design, Play games do everything I like and it goes very fast. It costs my parents a whomping 1000 I payed 300$ and then the insurance and all that other stuff all amounted to 1500$. I believe it was a great investment, and Im glad I bought it. Theres nothing like going anywere in your house freely without the hassles of cables or anything, and also wireless networking.

I dont know why, im just more comfortable doing work on such a small machine (compared to a desktop), which doesnt make much noise. Its also useful to be able to pick up your computer and put it away somewhere, especially when im laying out work on my desk. It definately saves me a tonne of room. Unfortunately, my friends would probably give me crap if I got a new laptop. I dont blame them though. So that rules out my parents buying me one. Maybe its for the best though, it will give me more time to improve, mature and experience a wider range of design, so that when I do finally get my new machine, it will be put to better use. Me and my philosophy :tongue:
