What are your New Years Resolutions?

Happy new year! I hope you all have a prosperous and fulfilling year. During hard times, push on through, for you will see light again.

Which brings me to my question, what are your new years resolutions? What are your aspirations?

Here are my goals and resolutions:

-stop procrastinating
-take school more seriously
-work hard and do well in school
-finish portfolio site (before school starts)
-Become proficient with more web technologies
-Expand knowledge/skills in various programs
-work for money
-be more open-minded
-be more passive
-be more diplomatic
-start freelancing to compliment my part time job
-be less shy (especially with chicks)

Some of these break down into smaller tasks and milestones, which I wish to achieve. Finally I brought them all together into a todo list, on which I will cross out goals as I achieve them, so I can monitor my progress.

And my realisations:

-If I ever want to make a name for myself, and show people what my level of skill's like, I have to prove myself. Its all on me. If I'm not capable of hitting the books, or putting in the extra mile, then I dont deserve it.

I dont know why, but I'm going to miss 2005. While there were hard times, I just kept going and came out on top of it. Once again, happy new year.

I haven't really thought about my new years resolution, mainly because I never manage to keep them. If I had to choose one thing it would be lose weight, sitting on the computer all day has made me a slight bit larger than I should be. In good news, my pants fell down a few times today at my friends house (which means I've lost enough weight to start wearing a smaller pants size, lol)

as for technology, I just want to keep doing what I'm doing and continue to learn new things. Mainly I'm looking forward to AJAX, PHP, and API development

Well since you all may have known I was grounded in december for a low grade I got in one of my classes. So my parents decided webdesign was taking too much of my time, and wasnt allowing me to focus on school, so in return they told me not to webdesign until further notice. Well due to that I really havent done much in Photo Shop or in Dreamweaver, or in FLash...all Ive been doing is reading and training in the arts of coding CSS and HTML..lol. So Ive been pretty much coding my face off.. So my goals for this year are:
Get as good as possible in CSS and HTML
Begin to study XML
Master the basics of site navigation in Flash
and release "Tragic Media"
Its too late its too late....they wont let go...they wont let go...follow my foot steps through that open door...open door....It must be very under the heart that makes this place so insane youll find in time that the gates have been upon

okay, whatever you say SamANTHA. Funnily enough, we only live half an hour away from each other, we've known each other for I think close to a year, not sure, and we still haven't met yet.

EDIT: we've known each other for over a year now, according to the date you joined the forums.

... -Try and keep my grades at A's instead of A's and B's.....

ahahah I have the same problem. My final term I just got sick of it all and got a couple of c's I think.

Missingo- tough situation man, that sucks. If I were in your shoes though, i'd be getting back to my roots. To the fundamentals. absorb as much as you can in this webdesign-free time and get as many ideas as you can. If you keep doing what you're doing, keep practicing, you'll fly though the production of Tragic Media. When time comes to start designing again, you may regret passing up this quiet time.

Mann, things arent going well for me. I just cant seem to get myself to do any work. I make up reasons why I shouldnt.

For example, I wanted to work on studiohybrid, but I felt that I should improve my web skills first. That involves going to W3C, reading over the tutorials again, then finish learning javascript browser compatibility. Minimum. Sounds simple, doesnt it? cant do it. Dont know why. I just cant bring myself to go through those tutorials again...

I'm gonna try and make a start on some artwork, so I can have something to showcase on my site when it does come out. Time is flying by. I was hoping to have my site done by the end of december.

I also have a problem. I never feel like i've completely learnt xhtml/html and css. So I ask, have you memorized all the tags? Or dont you need a lot of them? Because right now I seem to be doing fine with what I have, but I just dont feel complete.

Bird-E, I've memorized most of the tags in X/HTML and CSS. If I ever forget any I have multiple charts on my workspace walls as well as on my computer to guide me along. Though I've memorized these languages I still have a ton of things to learn. JS/AJAX is next for me
