Apple Fanboys and Girls, commence drooling. At the MacWorld 2006 Expo today Steve Jobs introduced the official Mac Intel Notebook, it shall be called the MacBook. Now 4 times faster than a normal PowerBook ever could be, the MacBook comes with tons of features, including a super bright LCD screen, remote control, and brand new Intel Processors.

What's the starting price on these little babies, you ask? Well, a basic one can be yours for $1999. Pretty expensive, but definitely worth it. Along with the basic notebook layout the new MacBooks also come with enhanced speakers and an iSight webcam built into the body.

Eat your heart out Bill Gates.

very nice, but I had my hopes up for a revised ibook. Sucks living in australia, because we get jacked up prices on everything- http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebObjects/australiastore/

I wonder if the macbook pro has heat issues. Its slightly lighter than the ibook, but seems like it can function like a portable desktop. Wish i had the money to burn for one of these :dead:

iBooks are still availible, at least until the normal MacBook is released. I would think with all of that power they'd back it up with a pretty strong fan. my worry is, were they going for quiet or cool?

if it's quiet, then it heats up easily, but if it's cool then it'll most likely be pretty loud

they still sell Minis, don't they? I thought the Nano replaced the Shuffle. oh well. from what I've heard the iBook will be replaced completely by the normal MacBook. hopefully pricing wont be affected, because I don't think I can afford a Mac at that cost

maybe I should look into a Mac Mini ($500)

dang, they just had to kill it. Some higher specs would be nice, but what makes me want the ibook more was that it was durable and rugged, something that I would be able to just slip into my backpack or whatever.
