A while ago, I was in the ratrace to get a domain name. It was in the final stages of its redemption period, after being registered for 2 years. Its status changed to pending delete, then it was deleted. Score. I jumped onto it and registered it just fine. BUT. There was an error. The status went BACK to pending delete. They tried to reregister it for me but no luck, so I was refunded. So for the past five days ive been waiting for it to become available. This morning, I got up to find that it had just been registered. Either it has a holding page or its a spam site. Either way. Im sure that its all just because it takes 5 days for it to become available. But i find it annoying that such a glitch occured, 'leading me on', and thanks to it I lost the domain I wanted. Some say the smart thing to have done would've been to backorder it. I dont doubt them. But firstly, I didnt think it would be popular, so I felt I was relatively safe. Plus I already had a failed 2 year registration, and wanted that to go towards 2 years of registration, rather than 1 year (the same I can afford for that price). For the time being, I'll have a sub par domain, and hope that in a years time, the owner chooses not to renew. EDIT: Could it be that this is a ploy by some registrar to get me to pay more (because I added it to my cart a few times, then took it out, and Ive done countless searches and whois lookups)? |

Who is your registar? If your registar isn't well-known then they probably aren't legit. WhoIs isn't always correct just because its a huge system it doesn't necessarily mean its always 100% correct but best of luck with the domain name registration. I'm anxiously awaiting seeing your site once it gets running. |

my registrar is godaddy. Im hoping it is some ploy to try and squeeze more money from me, because from what i read, they make it available again in around a week. I cant dig up many details about the owner either, but I suppose a year isnt too long to wait. Thanks for the support. |

Hahah your kidding me. I got the domain. I ended up backordering it and purchasing a sub par domain name, only to find that it was another registrar trying to get some traffic. |
