Still in the 70s here. I wouldn't mind some snow, but I guess it better wait, still too many leaves in the trees. A big snow would cause a lot of damage.

Its been snowing here today, so we have quite a coating on the ground so far.. I have to break out my snow boots cause I will need them for walking to the bus stop on Friday.. Monday thru Thursday I have been catching a ride with one of my classmates as she and I are on the same schedule. Its been working out great, but its gonna come to an end at the end of the month when all the classes end.. I will be back to walking to the bus stop every day (ugh!)

Its absolutely beautiful out today.. the skies are blue, no clouds(at the moment) and the sun is shining.. We have a lot of snow on the ground and its about 22°. I am off today cause today is Alaska Day, so I am taking advantage of having an empty house and doing some winter cleaning and organizing. Gathering up all the heavy winter stuff, checking it out to see if anything needs to be replaced or cleaned cause I know it won't be long before the temps bottom out and we will be needing all our gear.

I love winter, but only because we only get a part time winter. Not sure I could handle the snow on the ground from fall until spring stuff. Well, I could handle it, but I wouldn't enjoy myself. :)

Going to be a beautiful weekend here, mid 70s both days.

I don't mind the snow.. what bothers me is the dark.. We are rapidly losing daylight time and I am not enjoying going out and not having the sun up till after I am at work.. and its only going to get worse for me since I have a problem with S.A.D.. I am trying to find a full spectrum light to replace the one I had that got broken.. sadly the place I bought it went out of business and I am trying to find one that will work..

You would think with SAD being a huge problem up here, more places would carry the lights but so far I am only finding light blubs, which only helps moderately. I need the whole light in order for it to be helpful.

I order almost everything online. Can you order them that way? Are shipping cost up there high?

I actually like the dark, it's one of the reasons I like winter. Even in the summer it is usually dark when I go to work, except for maybe one month. I do like the nights staying light in the summer, but when it gets cold I don't mind it being dark early.

I will have to look in to ordering one online.. problem is, a lot of places won't ship to Alaska .. there usually is an added expense..

That is what I thought might be a problem.
That sucks, I use online for just about everything except groceries. But I buy a lot of boxed food online. Amazon grocery has some good prices, you just have to buy in bulk.

I have bought lots of clothing online and have bought a few things from Amazon.. I know that a few of the places that make and ship full spectrum lights have a thing that says they do not ship to Alaska. I just bought my winter coat and had it shipped up here.. it only cost me an additional $8 for that, but I am a good, long time customer where I got it.

Speaking of winter, looks like we get our first taste tomorrow and Friday. Might even get some snow out of this storm. Wish it would wait and get here Sat, so I could enjoy it from the comforts of home.

We have been getting up to temps around -10 the last few mornings. When I leave the house, its still dark out. I am going to have to invest in a small flashlight to help me as I walk to the bus stop.. What I didn't take in to account is that its %$#*@^$ cold when you are on the bus and that door is opening and closing for people getting on and off.. I may be wearing my long coat long before the temps get down in to the -30's and lower..

On top of that, today I had fun getting off the bus cause there is so much snow piled up between the sidewalk and the road. I couldn't step across it to get on to the sidewalk, so I ended up knee deep in the snow. The bus driver told me to come out the front door next time as she would be able to lower the wheelchair thingy to help me. It the pits being as short as I am.

I love snow, but I couldn't handle it being around for months.
Brrrrrr...

Made something tonight I haven't made in some time. One of my Mom's dishes, called a Hobo.
You take a piece of foil, hamburger patty, (but I've used turkey patties and I bet a piece of chicken would work too) add cheese, potatoes, carrots, onions and seasoning. (I've also used cauliflower and broccoli) Wrap it all up in the foil and bake until done. Oh man did it turn out good tonight. :)

sounds good. Its something like a dish my late brother in laws sister used to make. She would layer swiss steak, hash browns, onions and cheese in foil, bake it and take it to her husband when he was on duty at the Fire Department. It was really good.
