`I hate wind storms too.. mainly cause I have really long hair. short of putting a swim cap on, its damn impossible to keep my hair from blowing everywhere. Its also a pain in the ass when its cold and the wind just cuts right through you.

lol.. the first time I got called that was by a new counselor who was from California..

She was somewhat bizarre, to say the least.. I about p'eed my pants the first time she called our 60 something year old extremely uptight receptionist that... I thought WWIII had just be declared..

Course the first time I answered her the polite southern way by adding ma'am to my reply, she exploded and told me not to call her that... I suggested she take her ass back to New York if she didn't like how we talked in the south.

California not only has their own speak, I'm pretty sure they may be a different species. Ditto for New York. ;)

New Jersey too... we had a handyman from Jersey who kept talking about how we needed Earl for one of our pieces of office equipment.. we couldn't figure out who Earl was and why we needed him, so we asked the handyman to explain why.. He kept saying we needed Earl, you know, earl the you put on gears.... :ermm:

he was talking about OIL

lol at earl. I think I'm going to start calling it that too.

Been a cold weekend. Snowed most of the time, but it's warm enough most of it just melts. Worked half of yesterday, so I didn't get to kick back and enjoy it like I wanted too.

Its snowing up here right now and is supposed to snow on and off till Tuesday.. Tomorrow is a holiday for us up here, Sewards Day, so I am off. Its going to be a very busy week for me cause there is lots happening and a there will be a lot of people out of the office on and off.. including me.. Tuesday there will be only 1 assistant in the office, Wednesday there is a job fair and people are taking shifts to work it.. I have to go to it cause the MASST program requires it... Thursday there is a training that will be pulling people out of the office in the afternoon.. If I am lucky, I might get Friday off in place of all the hours I have to work to cover everyone else.

BTW, I did not get the job.. I don't have what they consider reliable transportation cause I don't own a car.. Oh well.. **shrug**

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the job, Marcia. Just means a better one is trying to find you.

Temps are back to normal here for this week. 50s for the highs, 20s for the lows. I did see my first robin of the season yesterday. That's the sign to show me spring is near. Damn! I see lawn mowing in my future.

It snowed on and off from Sunday night till late last night and is supposed to start again later today and snow on and off till tonight, then the temps are supposed to start rising and be in the mid to upper 30's by the end of the week.. Its gonna be a messy Easter if the snow starts melting..

Most people have a good 3-4' of snow in their yards, so we are all going to have lakes.. Since I have to walk to a bus stop, I am going to have to invest in some rubber boots to keep my feet dry.. Thankfully I only have a couple more weeks of doing two buses to get to work.. by the 15th of April, the office will have moved downtown and the bus stop is right in front of the office.. :nod :b1 :clap .. and no more :brrr :D

Snow hogs! Share some of that white stuff. :)
Spring has definitely hit here. The robins were all over the place today, plus I saw more woodpeckers than I have ever seen here tonight. They were out strutting their stuff for the ladybirds. Rattling their beaks on everything they could find.

the weather guys lied.. we woke up yesterday to -28 and -20 this morning.. but I will say that it is rapidly warming up, and hit the high 20's low 30's, but the NOAA site is calling for snow by the weekend.. so its going to be a crummy Easter for the kids..

Regarding sending snow.. I have always wondered why they don't pack the snow in tanker cars and ship it to states that are going through droughts.. I imagine that it would be expensive, but I imagine that are some big corporations/farmers/ranchers who would pay to have that done rather than have their crops wither, or their animals starve do to lack of food or die of thirst.

I've wondered the same thing. Not the snow from Alaska, but every year, Every year!..the Mississippi floods. There must be some plan somewhere to pipe all that water out west, or east, to where it is needed, before it all flows into the ocean.

it seems to me that if they can build a pipeline to send oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, or to build a pipeline to send oil from Canada through the states to the Mississippi or the Gulf of Mexico, then they can do the same thing with melted snow/rainfall to not only send water to places that are facing extreme drought, but to also keep the water from building up and causing massive flooding.. Considering how many millions, if not billions, are spent each year by various states and insurance companies to rebuild after floods or fires destroy homes and infrastructure, one would think they would be willing to help foot the expense to take on such an undertaking or that some of these corporations that lose crops and huge farm/ranch conglomerates lose livestock would chip in towards it too.. They stand to lose millions in floods, fires, droughts too.
