Alaska is at the first gates of hell right now.. the entire state is sweltering under a heat wave.. We have been having days of 90+° heat with no relief in sight.. Pretty hard on a state where very few places have air conditioning.

That sucks. I know those temps far too well. We will probably be stuck in the 90s for the next month. :(
Your 40 below will be back soon.

We have more fires raging south of here. Yesterday it looked like we were fogged in all day. Nasty stuff. Today is a little better so the wind must have changed.

we are under red flag warning up here.. One of the schools close by is a staging area for firefighters.. the school parking lot is full. If there is a lightening strike, there is going to be a fire.. Its hot and dry up here, and its gonna get worse as the forecast is calling for temps of 97 to 105 this week. Its going to be god awful living here the next few weeks. We go to bed now with wet towels on us... wihich are dry in a few hours.. so I am up several times during the night to soak them back down again. I am dreading seeing what temps going up to 100 is going to do.

People are going to die.. there are no fans, air conditioners, or even mosquito repellant to be found in town.

105, damn. I would have never thought it could get that hot up there.
Hope the lightning stays away, you don't need any fires. Still have one raging in the hills south of here. Went from 50 square miles to 108 since Friday. I'm glad that one is pretty far from here, it sounds nasty.

We have had a few days like that.. woke up one morning to the strong smell of wood smoke.. since the apartment I live in is wood, is jumped up and ran, thinking the apartment was on fire.. got outside to discover the town covered in smoke from one of the fires burning just outside the town..looked like a heavy fog had decended on the town.

btw, we have hit temps over 100 before.. if I can figure out how to load the picture, I will

Nice looking neighborhood.
I don't like anything in the 90s and up, unless there is a pool nearby.
Been in the 90s all week. My poor cats look miserable. Wish this house had a basement, we'd all live down there in the summer.

the official temp based on what it said at the airport was 92 yesterday.. one of the local banks had 104 on their temp thing.. It hit the mid to high 90's here today.. I am praying for rain cause last night was miserable.. I was up at 2 am soaking down towels to help cool us off.. @ 3 am it was still 75°.. I gave up at 4, got up and put ice cubes on the towels in an effort to cool down. There isn't a fan, air conditioner, sprinkler, kiddy pool, cooler or bug spray to be found in town, and based on what the newspaper said, there will be none coming as the corporate stores have deemed it past time to order this stuff. This does not bode well for the summer if its this hot in June..

That really sucks. Down here you can order anything online and have it shipped to you, but I'm guessing the shipping is very expensive up there. Does Amazon even offer you the Prime option? You pay them once a year, and then all your orders are free shipping for the year. I'm betting they don't even give that option for your State.

tried to talk him into moving when we went to Florida, but he loves it up here.. so here we stay.. No rain for us, but at least the temps are going back to what they normally are for this time of the year.. thank God.. I can handle 70s during the day and 50's at night.. its the 90's during the day and 70s at night that are the killer.

Yeah, it's the hot nights that are the worst. I can handle the hot days if it will just cool off at night.

it cooled off here big time tonight.. we had a hell of a wind storm blow in, we thought rain was coming, but it was only wind(so far) and the temps dropped down into the 60's.. We might have a pleasant night sleeping tonight. Lately we have gone to bed with wet towels on us.. I am surprised I don't have a fungus growing on me, except its been so hot the towels are dry within an hour or so.
