I should have been born to farmers. ![]() That is a lot of money, especially back then. |

Its sad though.. more farmers bite the dust.. So many places gone, either sold out to places like US Sugar, or sold to developers who tear down all the trees, pave over all the land and build more houses for people who use all the natural resources.. Eventually there will be no more unpaved land, they will have a wet hurricane, it will flood and they will have to open the pumps and pump all the water either into the ocean or across the state, through the lake and out into the gulf.. Fresh water mixing with the salt will damage the sea life in the ocean.. Ah... what the hell, its only fish. One of these days there won't be enough fresh water for all the citizens to drink..

From 1960 to now the World's population more than doubled. They say it will double again in the next 40 years. The human race is finished if we don't find a way to get to other planets, or stop the damn breeding like rabbits. I'm on the down slope of my life, but I feel sorry for people being born today and what they are going to be faced with if something isn't done. Maybe the planet will throw another plague our way.. |

considering that so many diseases are making a comeback, and germs are becoming antibiotic resistant, it won't be long before something comes along and wipes out a good percentage of the worlds population. Thats if someone doesn't decide to start another World War and/or "push the little red button" |

Watched World War Z this weekend, and then watched that new show last night, Last Ship. Both about a massive pandemic. Wonder if they are trying to tell us something? |

AIDS and Ebola are killing Africa.. I seriously would not be surprised if they somehow combined and created an unstoppable super germ. We are rapidly killing ourselves.. we have fucked up this planet, and mother nature has had enough and is fighting back.. Look at all the weather, Tornadoes, unending rain that has caused massive floods, in England, mudslides and landslides worldwide, the severe droughts that are hitting California and withering crops, and causing the farmers to sell beef off cause they can't afford to fee them, earthquakes(Just had an 8.0 up here in the Aleutians) volcanoes.. we have fucked up the oceans with pollution and are killing sea life. I have no doubt that nature will kill us before we can totally kill it. |

I agree, but I also disagree. Yes, we are killing ourselves, but this planet is not being hurt at all. Earth is a giant recycling machine. We are not, nor could we hurt this planet. It has withstood asteroid strikes, super volcanoes and is doing just fine. We will die because of our ways, polluting our water, over fishing, air pollution, name it.. but 10,000 years after we are gone, no one will even be able to tell we were here, and Earth will be all shiny and new again. |

not quite.. we are depleting resources as fast as we can.. so I think it will take a lot longer for some things to recover.. Oil, natural gas, a lot of natural minerals, gold, etc... So stuff will never be the same.. we already have already wiped out several animal species and are on the verge of of wiping out several more from hunting.. |

Hang on tight! Never been in an earthquake that I remember. Used to have small ones when I was a youngster, but they always happened when I was sleeping. |

we are still having aftershocks, but not at the rate of 1 a minute.. That volcano that erupted in Iceland is pretty much on the same longitude line as Fairbanks... so I wonder if there is a connection |

Mother Nature, she can be one loving, angry, hateful SOB. Someday, I hope we all understand this weird ass crap. |

Lotta shaking going on up here... Alaska gets a lot of earthquakes on a daily basis, but this past week we had two big enough to really be felt ones here in Fairbanks... 4.95 on Monday and 5.05 on Thursday.. I am planning on putting some supplies in the car in case Mother Nature decided to get serious cause I do not want to have to either be standing outside in the cold while my office is checked, or camping outside if the house gets shook down. |
