Almost 80 degrees out this morning, and I have a bushel of raspberries to pick.
The bees better be in a sharing mood.

it got down to 28-29 here, so I brought my tomatoes inside and the damn things are thriving and budding like crazy.. I already had 6 on each plant.. looks like I am gonna get a bunch more..

BTW, I have one plant growing the upside way in a thing called the upsy dowsy(sturdy plastic tub with a hole in the bottom) and one growing the normal way.. the one growing upside down is 3 times the size of the other one and has 4 times more new buds.

I've never tried one of the upside down things. I'll have to give it a try next year.
It's going to get close to freezing this coming weekend. I'm hoping it will hold off a few more weeks.

If you try the upside way, don't buy one of those topsy turvys as I understand they tear easily.. if you can't find the upsy downsy thing, get a sturdy plastic bucket, drill a hole in it, get some burlap and cut a hole in the middle of it, put it on the bottom of the bucket, thread your tomato plant roots through the hole in the bucket and the hole in the burlap, then put your dirt in the bucket and hang it up somewhere. I had my doubts about it working, but am amazed at how well everything is growing. I have mine hanging in my dinning room right under the light and it seems to be thriving.

Cool.
I'll have to give that a try for sure.
The low is dropping into the 30s this weekend, with a small chance of snow. Guess my tomatoes better kick it into high gear this week.

I am glad that I had a container garden cause it allowed me to bring in what plants I wanted to save.. Ironically all of my flowers are still alive and blooming.. and they are still outside.. go figure.. I guess cause they are hanging on the porch and were protected from the frost saved them..

well today might have been kill day for the rest of the plants.. it was 22 this morning and at 12:30 there is still frost on the ground.. It will be interesting to see if any of my remaining plant survived this cold.

Brrrr.. I'm not ready for the 20s yet. I'm hoping it doesn't get down to freezing this weekend. We could still have several weeks of growing left.
But I am tired of mowing the lawn. One more time and I should be done for the season.

they are done here.. the frost today killed the grass.. I am still waiting to see if my outdoor stuff is dead.. part of the flowers look like they got hit, but my herbs look like they are ok. guess I should pull my dehydrator out, chop the herbs up and go ahead and dehydrate they.. of chop them up, drop them in an ice tray and make herb cubes to use in soup.

I saw that idea in Womans World Weekly

I might be able to transfer some of my herbs in to smaller containers.. right now they are growing in something that is almost as long on my kitchen table.. I might do that with half the plants and then chop up the rest and do the herb cube thing.
