Probably, but I like the sound of the chicks chirping in the spring. Plus the males can be very pretty, when the sun hits them right. |

Grackles are noisy beggers for sure. I used to get a lot of them when I lived in the Passage, not so many here in the city. At least, not at my feeders. I mostly get woodpeckers, bluejays, finches, chickadees and mourning doves. Oh, and those fekking racoons after dark errrrrrrrggggggggg |

I need to get a new bird feeder and put it up on my porch again.. I used to have one in front of my window... then my old neighbor made a bunch and put them up on his end of the porch and I didn't get many visitors after that.. Now that he is gone, I can attract them back to my side.. |

Pigeons, doves and sparrows and grackles are about all I get in the winter. Not sure I would want racoons visiting my feeders. Saw a squirrel once, but he hasn't been back. Going to put up Christmas lights today. Maybe.. It looks chilly out there. :/ |

A couple of summers ago, I had the front door open to get some air in the apartment, looked up and saw a squirrel standing in my doorway about to come in.. Needless to say I about had a heart attack cause I didn't want it running loose in my apartment. At the Wood Center(where I used to work) some nitwit left the doors open while they were doing reno's at the Food Court.. a squirrel got in and found where the bakery dropped off the boxed of donuts that all the food centers sold.. we came in to work to find pieces of donuts and crumbs everywhere and a bunch of happy squirrels running loose in the building. We damn near never got them out.. We finally wised up and left a trail of donut pieces leading out of the building to get rid of them.. To keep them away from the building, we would put things out for them to eat, making sure we moved it farther and farther away from the building each day. |

btw, we are having some wild weather up here and under severe winter weather alerts.. WE have Chinook winds coming up from the south with predicted gusts up to 50 mph, and a cold front coming down from the Bering Sea with lots of snow predicted... So.... we woke up to 41F, snow melting like mad and turning the world in to a giant lake.. Then the winds hit the same time it started snowing and it was blowing so hard that the snow was literally blowing sideways.. I had to rush out and take some of my things down cause I was about to lose my thermometer and planters.. Thankfully my wind chimes are pretty secure on their holders.. Its gonna be a fun couple of days with them happening. |

Squirrels like donuts.. Smart little critters. I can do without the wind. It's been cold here all weekend. Not your type of cold, but today isn't getting out of the single digits. Did get my lights up yesterday.

I ended up having to bring my wind chimes in in the middle of the night.. The wind was howling like a banshee and my wind chimes were making so much noise that one would think there was another royal wedding happening. |

Do you have steam heat? Lived in a place that had that once. I loved the stuff. |

I think its hot water heat... Its some baseboard thing that runs the length of my living room wall...I really don't exactly know cause we have never turned it on... My apartment is above the building managers apartment and we get the heat rising from his apartment plus I am surrounded by apartments on 3 sides, so we are pretty well insulated. We have a little electric heater that we use when I see frost and ice creeping up the inside of my front door and I have two throws on my couch that we can snuggle under if it gets chilly in the apartment.. |
