I agree about the rain barrels.
As far as pools and hot tubs, those are usually filled with water you pay for, so it is your water to do with as you please.
For a couple years here, they had a tax, or fee as they called it, on houses where they would look and see how much of your land you had covered, with the house, patio, anything that wouldn't let the rain soak into the ground. Depending on how much land you had covered you got taxed. So you had to pay extra for all the water that ran into the street instead of soaking in the ground, yet you can't have barrels to catch the water to put on the ground later.
This is our wonderful full of shit government at work. :)

where the hell do you live?? Didn't the nimrods realize the water will run off the patio and on to the ground.

I am surprised people that are part of the green movement don't live at the state office buildings and court house fighting this stupid law..Hell, if I lived there, I would be on the phone daily calling every organization I could think of to sic them on the state officials.

The whole waste water thing was a way for the local politicians to cover their ass. They had spent years spending the money on other things, and hadn't kept the drainage system around town in good condition. They knew they couldn't get a tax increase passed here, so they created a whole new bureaucracy to oversee the drainage problem. To pay for it they created the Fee on housing and businesses. It was a joke and finally got thrown out in court.

its like they have gone back to the 1800's when there were water wars on the old frontier.. As far as I am concerned, rainwater and snow melt can't be owned.. If it lands on your house, on your property, it belongs to you to be used as you see fit.. I can see some fool trying to impose restrictions on rainwater or snow melt up here... they would probably be covered in meat and staked out somewhere as bear bait.

no, it was fine.. I rather like the quiet.. When he got home he took a nap while I played on the computer.. after he woke up I baked a ham, made pasta salad, green beans and a pear cobbler for dinner.
