It may be before the end of the week.
Hot as hell here this week. Way too early for this 100 degree crap.
Three different fires burning in the State right now, and the biggest one has burned up 89 square miles. That's hard to picture.
One started Sat about 40 miles from here and is roaring out of control. I've seen the smoke a few times but I think the wind is blowing away from here.

That's my update for the day. :)
Busy this week and the heat has me dead tired by the end of the day.

well you clearly live in the midwest where most of the fires are.

I have the day off today... I was asked if I would be willing to work 8 hour days this week to help cause so many people were out of the office.. between vacations, trainings and then one person had to be out on an unexpected medical leave, most of the week it was just two of us in the office. Wish I could have a 4 day work week every week, I like being able to have a day off during the week when no one is around.. I can do the laundry without being interrupted.. Plus I can clean the house in peace.. I hate cleaning the house when anyone is home.

I'd love a 4 day week too.

Some idiot has been starting fires in a mountain town here. They've had 15 fires in two days. Luckily none of them got out of control. I think they finally caught the guy yesterday.
Sure are some worthless people in this world.

we have an arsonist here also.. he/she/they have set fire and burned down several places around town, mainly aiming at historical places/things and tourist type structures/things.. They have not caught the person(s) yet..

Yesterday we had planned a bbq with Marks sister and her boyfriend.. I confirmed the time on Friday morning.. I had the steaks out and well seasoned, ready for the grill... made a huge salad, had the potatoes ready to be baked and the garlic bread ready to be heated.. Time for them to arrive came and went so I called to check on them.. only to be told they weren't coming.. cause his sister hurt her leg.. OK.. I toss two of the steaks in a vacuum freezer bag and put them in the freezer.. Mark goes and starts the charcoal...his phone rings, its her saying she is on her way... so I pull the steaks back out of the freezer.. She arrives, but is by herself.. Her bf is a paramedic for an air ambulance service and he had been called in to go air evac someone out of Canada after an accident.. So I put one of the steaks back in the freezer... we are just sitting down to eat, her phone rings.. their dad is in town, so he gets invited over... I pull the steak out AGAIN... Apparently I bought some big ass steaks cause his sister couldn't eat all hers, so she split hers with dad.. I couldn't eat all mine, so half of mine is in the fridge... and the steak that got put up, pulled out, etc.. got grilled and is sitting "in tact" in the fridge... I will be having steak salad for lunch for a few days..

I love this family, but they can drive a person nuts!

I think that is pretty much all families. ;)

Might try grilling some burgers tonight. Way too hot to do much of anything but get in and out of the pool.

its gotten hot up here..it was 89 yesterday afternoon.. With this heat, we will bbq'ing as much as we can till it gets cool again.. We have to see if we can find yet another fan for the house to help keep it cool.. I only have 2 going in the living room, 1 in the dinning room, 1 in the bathroom and 4 in the bedroom.. I am looking to get a bigger one for the living room and put the fan I have in there now in the kitchen.. thank god I don't pay and electric bill! I am also going to get some more hanging plants to put up in front of the apartment to help block the sun in the afternoons.. Between 6-10:30 PM it blazes down on the porch(the apartment buildings roof is metal)and hits the front of the apartment and starts heating this place up..

if June is this hot this early, I dread seeing what July and August are going to be like......thank god I get out and work in an air conditioned building.

A metal roof, that has to be hell.
Your place sounds like mine. I have fans running all over the house. Unfortunately, I do pay the electric.
We never got our month of Spring rains, so I'm hoping we get some of that in July or August. If not, I'm going to melt.

I hate how a lot of the buildings up here have been built..lots of houses and businesses have metal roofs.. lots of businesses have no or very few windows in their buildings, a good 75-80% of building don't have a/c.. There are places I refuse to either shop or eat in during the summer simply because of that.. One has to deal with both the heat and the bugs.. Nothing like battling bugs as you are trying to eat!

One good thing about fans.. I read and article that said they keep mosquitoes away.. Said they are bad fliers and can't navigate the air movement created by the fan. I know they can't navigate the breeze from the fan at the foot of my bed.. its so strong, it blows the covers up over me it I don't anchor them down.. :nod

Well one good thing about it being so dry this year.. Maybe the mosquitoes will not show up. You can keep them all up there. ;)

It hit 100 degrees here both Sat and Sun and doesn't look like any change until maybe Fri. This is going to be a long week.

there currently is 37 fires burning up here right now.. several that were started by the lightening from the storms we had up here over the weekend.. Its raining now. hopefully it will be a long rain that will wet down all the brush and help put out or control the fires

37!? Damn, the whole country is going to go up in smoke.
The one by me exploded last night. There hadn't been any houses lost until then, and then they went up like dominoes. It was unreal watching them burn on tv, and how close this fire has gotten to the city.
Took these from my upstairs window.

are you prepared to bug out if you have to?? Got cages for the cats, your important papers in something so you can grab and run?? Seriously if you haven't made preparations, now is the time to do so.. They can and do move fast when a fire storm starts. I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't want to lose an online friend, especially in that manner.

Thanks, but the fire can't get to me. It's burning in the foothills, I live on the plains. This is a city of over 400,000 people and I'm about as far away from the fire as you can get. It's in the NW corner and I'm in the SE corner. The fire is so bad because it is feeding off of 20' to 30' pine trees. Only thing around me is prairie grass. It burns bad and fast too, but the fuel runs out very fast too. So a fire could get to me, but only if someone starts another one on this side of town. Absolutely no way that fire will reach my home. If it suddenly turned and headed south, it could probably get my work.
Thanks for the concern though. :)
