The only rules for joining the region are being more or less in the general modern tech range and roleplaying as a part of the region. On the other hand, I'd like you to check out some of our regional RPs and some of the stuff on NSWiki first. I am a little worried about the high potential for conflict and the possibility that you may not be able to play your nation as you imagined it.
At the moment, while I have a basic outline for Azoreus, things are still open to change, so basically the nation as it is is quite adaptable.

But you are already applying for an alliance which will seal in all the problematic stuff.

And I'm guessing there's no way to work around that, ehh?

Not a peaceful way, unfortunately. Slavery is a black and white issue for most, if not all, of the governments in the region.

Yes, the Pantocratorian Government is firmly opposed to Pantocratorians being made slaves by anybody.

Is it safe to say that I found Irony in the words "Slavery is a black and white issue". Anyway onto a serious note, the only way I could really see slavery being abolished in the Grand Duchy and the League is if there were a change in government. The current Grand Duke and Chamber of Nobles are to set in their ways to accept change.

We should wrap up the Iesian war ASAP and invade Azoreus! To liberate their slaves. And sell them pink bunny cola. And cookies. Everybody loves cookies.

Like the flag, too. Reminds me of something. But can't remember.

If the occupation does happen, perhaps Azoreus will be divided like how East and West Germany were.

Azoreus,

My comment for you is that, given the composition of our region and the size and age of our nations, I find it unlikely that we would have tolerated a slave-nation existing in our region until the 21st century. We're in the midst of redeveloping our shared regional histories - going back at least a thousand years in some cases - so I think that ICly, we would have invaded your country long before now.

So, would be interested in RPing an historical invasion and occupation of your country? That would, I think, fit in much better with ICly with our region than saying we never noticed you and your slave-owning ways until 2010.

Also, if you are interested in RPing as something of an antagonist for the rest of the region (which we could use, especially if dear old Bridgette goes away), a decades old invasion and occupation would certainly give you reason enough to take on that role without having slavery (which we, of course, would have abolished during the occupation).

Considering the situation, I believe a historic invasion would be in order, you are right it would fit in better than suddenly popping up with Slave trading ways. But then again this would conflict with my acceptance into the IASEN. Perhaps we could have it, that despite the regulations laid out by the occupiers slavery exists in an almost forbidden sense. With only wealthy nobles who have the resources to purchase and maintain slaves without notice from authorities, and with the ascension of the current Grand Duke to the throne, it has been decided that Azoreus shall revert back to it's traditional ways before the occupation.
