Hello, all!

I'm The Fanboyists, although IC'ly I go by "the Allamunnic States." I've been on NS since 2007, although I didn't start RPing until 2008, if I recall right (don't remember, and the history is lost with the Jolt Forums). While I am not looking to join (proper) Western Atlantic, I would like to join your RPing community. I have been a fairly active RP'er since I've started, and am currently active in the region of Tyrrhenia, and it's RP community.

I've RPed with Excalbia before, and, perusing previous Western Atlantic roleplays, have been impressed. It would be a pleasure to roleplay with you all.

In regards to IC information, you will be better served by looking over RPs and the Factbook appended to my actual nation page. The WikiStates entry is very out of date, and I have not gotten around to updating it.

Thanks for your consideration.

Hi there!

I'm impressed with what I've seen of your roleplay and there's no problem there. It's also great to have new roleplay opportunities with other players.

Perhaps you could elaborate a little bit on your plans? We discussed a little bit of it in private, but I think it would be a good idea if everyone gets an opportunity to chip in on the backstory and such. I understand that the idea is to create an alt of sorts, yeah?

That's more or less the jist of it.

Verbatim, here's what I told Knootoss:
Quote:

The concept of what I'd had in mind, in regards to the RP, is that the Allamunnae have made some interesting discoveries close to home that have made locating the land of their ancestors' origin, as well as other peoples of the same origin, a distinct possibility. The Allamunnic States would be dispatching two research ships to both carry on the research, excavation, and investigation necessary to complete the task, as well as carrying minor diplomatic staff on a goodwill tour, both to any cultural brethren and any nation interested in providing a port of call.

If so allowed, it would result in the establishment of a nation which would be IC'ly allied to my main nation. They'd have shared cultural heritage, but they'd be separate nations, allowing for a set of new characters and politics and such to be used, but having reason for occasional involvement by my main nation, and, as a supposedly "existing" nation, not conflicting with the lack of colonial enclaves in Western Atlantic. Beyond that, I have no specific plans, as it were, beyond getting involved in the RP community.

Could you tell us a bit more about the culture and history that you had in mind for the new nation? If we go ahead it'll need an appropriate place on the map, for starters, and that depends on those background factors.

Keeping in mind that this will vary based on more distant regional history, which I'm not exactly familiar with...

Well, culturally it'll be Germanic/Scandinavian-based/descended, just like the Allamunnic States; they'd have a shared ancestor, and I've always thought of them as being Norse or Danish-descended at some point in their history. The peoples would have arrived in the region by sea somewhere between 500 BC and 1000 AD, most likely. Still figuring out a name for them. If it's acceptable to others, they may have been a sort of cross between the Vikings and horde-barabarians of Eastern Europe in the 400's; nomadic sea-raiders.

Depending on the size of the nation, it would either have its roots as a small community, presumably on the coast, or of a few small kingdoms that eventually unified some time between 1000 and 1900 AD. It'd be a fairly small, maybe medium-sized nation (population of maybe 200 million, at absolute maximum, if people use the game-generated populations (except scaled to whatever the average roleplayed size of most Western Atlantic nations is).

They'd probably have kept to themselves to a large extent, maybe doing shipping or working as mercenaries in other nations, but not playing much of a role outside of their immediate vicinity prior to the 19th century (at earliest) or 20th century (at latest). Unfortunately I'm still working on developing it more, and I won't be able to get much more specific than that without more details of regional history, if there might be a resource where I could look into that.

If you look into the history of the Allamunnic States, these people will probably be more akin, culturally, to the Skraelings or Draakurrae than they would be to the larger body of Allamunnae.

Do you need more details, or does that give you something to work with?

Given by what you've described thus far it makes sense that they would be part of the Heiliges Westbund, the Holy Western Confederation. Probably in the north of the central island (if you want to emphasise Germanic) or in the cold north of Atmora (if you want to emphasise more scando and quasi viking links).

Possibly they could border Vauxhall. Possibly they could be a bit further east. Check here's an idea of what it looks like.

The Holy Western Confederation is a kind of decaying Holy Roman Empire esque body with old, Christian cultures in it. All European. Your nation could be a part of it, though considering the chaos and ineffectual rule of the Bundeskaiser it'd be de facto independent, if not for the matter of fealty to an NPC Emperor and representation in their central body.

Atmora, a tongue-in-cheek Elder Scrolls reference, is the nordic province of the Empire and part of it could well be your alt nation.

EDIT: Seeing your edit, central Atmora would be perfect, culturally speaking.

So how will we go about this, exactly?

Well, a reasonable time will be allowed so that existing players have the opportunity to ask questions or raise objections in this thread. If there are no objections, I'll TG you the password and we can figure out your map space in more detail and all that fun stuff.
