I like Excalbia's idea, if that's different enough for Panto. Otherwise, I have no problem reworking the back story, perhaps with Katzistani as a distinct ethnic group. |

After looking into Indo-Greek cultures on Brasland's advice, I'm liking the idea of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom as the origin of Katzistanza, rather than Byzantium. Still developing the new backstory. Also, I was thinking of rolling back the clock a little on the government's modernization efforts, so that I have to RP acquiring foreign assistance and the other steps outlined in my backstory. Might make Katzistanza more a part of the Western Atlantic, and make the WA more a part of Katzistanza's history, rather then just being plopped in ready to roll.

So, in the Western Atlantic, do you all use any economic calculator? WA rankings? Stats and descriptors from the nation page? Or is it all freeform and NSWiki? Also, what year is it in the WA? EDIT: New history now up in factbook of Katzistanza. Edited by Katzistanza, Jul 16 2012, 12:08 AM.

Hey, I like both suggestions by Excalbia and Brasland so if you are happy with either of those, it works for me. We broadly adhere to webgame stats with a few disclaimers: 1) We avoid discussing populations except in relative terms. Many of the nations here are antiquity nations with stupidly large populations. If we need to trot out our populations as part of a International Incident penis competition for instance, then we would do so, but otherwise just leave it ambiguous in our RPs. 2) Most of the webgame stats are used as relative measures only. There is some discussion for instance about stats for military RP you can find on this forum. I think over time we will probably make sense of the stats more or less as a community. 3) We don't use any sort of regional sliding scale or anything like that for working out the year. I think in most countries, it is 2012. We use fluid time to overlook inconsistencies, but we RP mostly on the same scale. We don't, for example, move at a pace of decades in our RPs, except perhaps historical RPs which many players will be up for. 4) The descriptors on the nation page are largely taken as hyperbolic, but indicative of an overall trend. 5) No calculators are regarded as authoritative although you are welcome to use them. They may or may not be accepted as a legitimate basis for comparative measure with other nations in the region - work it out with them on a case by case basis ![]() 6) We do all use NSwiki (which can be very painful given its performance issues). |

Cool, I like all of that. Anyway, here's my nation's new history (http://www.nationstates.net/nation=katzistanza/detail=factbook/dsubcategory1=101), and, if it is satisfactory, I'd like to continue to discuss the location and geography of Katzistanza. The features and descriptions given in the history are flexible placeholders. |

This seems fine to me. I think that some place in Epheron or southern Transmontana would make the most sense for Katzistanza's location. What sort of climate do you want? |

I see that Katzistanza remains Greek Orthodox, the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom was firstly Greco-Sogdian Pagan and then Buddhist. Was Katzistanza converted by later Christian's from the Eastern Roman empire? |

I'm thinking sprawling, hilly/mountainous, coastal, with a lowland region. Hot in the summer, cool in the winter. Ranging from lush woods to open steppes to rocky peaks. Similar to Central Asia or the Balkans. As available. |

Good catch. I'll see what I can do about that. |

It seems we will probably have some ethnic overlap in common, there are Sogdians and Persians (of various kinds) in Sabaristan and others from that part of the world, most of whom are fairly recent migrants associated with Sabaristan's new ruling dynasty. It will be interesting to see if we can develop some cultural or historical interchange. |
