Committee: Global Security 1B Subject: Religious and Ethnic Conflict Proposed by: Iraq THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, 1) Recognizing that Israel is sponsoring settlement in the West Bank region, 2) although the West Bank is not an official territory of Israel, 3) Recalling the many disputes over West Bank settlement between Israel 4) and Arab States, 5) Believing that the West Bank region is losing strategic importance to 6) Israel’s political ambitions, 7) Realizing that the West Bank issue is one of the main obstacles between 8) Israeli and Arab relations, 9) Expecting that by settling this issue, the Middle East could be a much 10) more unified region diplomatically, 11) Encourages continuing negotiations between Israel and Arab Middle 12) Eastern states over the issue of settlement in the West Bank, if any; 13) Requests that West Bank be officially converted into a United Nations 14) protected neutral zone; 15) Designates that the West Bank is a demilitarized zone and will be 16) maintained by a UN peacekeeping force; 17) Calls for Israel to at least temporarily halt sponsorship of Israeli 18) settlement in the West Bank for at least six months of passage of this 19) resolution; 20) Further requests for a new United Nations committee be formed 21) specifically on the situation in the West Bank; 22) Trusts that Middle Eastern countries take this for a stepping stone to 23) better diplomatic relations in the region. |

APPROVED This resolution is short and sweet and to the point. I like it. You didn't beat around the bush, you addressed the topic at hand very clearly and laid it out in a good solid solution. Good job. Oh, and the operative clauses have to be numbered in addition to having the lines numbered. P.S. We gave you a while to do the resolution, so next time, try to get it in earlier, and not in the last second. This resolution is pretty good, but I think it could have been better if you had taken some more time to do it. Edited by Taj_Taher, Dec 3 2010, 10:51 AM.
