There were quite a few that came out for the DC, but what's your favorite of the racing titles? I think mine has to be the original Speed Devils. It started out slow, but ended up being pretty sweet as you unlocked the faster cars. Very arcadey style reminded me a lot of a Midway racer, but without the cheap AI. So how about you? |

Vanishing Point has to be my favorite, i havent played too many racing games on DC, but it was one of my top 5 games out of all the ones i've played on DC in general |

Vanishing Point was pretty good too - you really had to train yourself not to correct the steering though. It looked good and was also 60 FPS, which didn't happen too often on the DC. |

Believe it or not, one of my favorite racers on DC is Walt Disney World Quest Magical Tour Racing. That thing just hauls ass! Damn, I've *never* seen a cart racer that moves this quick. Though the port wasn't exactly up to DC standards(it was kind of "Bleemed"), it still looks great and is just a load of fun. Past that I really dig Test Drive 6(another that was pretty much just "Bleemed" for the DC port). The physics on that game just crack me up. I love racing with the traffic too, love watching the AI cars just get their asses whooped by oncoming cars. TrickStyle is another great racer, imo. The graphics are really good, and I just love the whole "futuristic hoverboard" thing they've got going. About the only thing I didn't much care for was the way you had to perform a series of stunts to open new tracks...I mean, I guess it helped you learn all the techniques you *will* need to win races, but I just didn't like that it was mandatory. Test Drive: V Rally is also quite good. I am pretty sure that one runs at close to 60fps, it's just so very smooth. Wish the tracks were a little longer...but just the sheer amount of tracks makes up for that. Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing is a great, sleeper, motorcycle racer. Picked it up dirt cheap and have been loving it ever since. Give this a shot. Ducati World Racing Challenge is another motorcycle racer, though it's a bit more sim-ish... Star Wars Episode I: Racer was really good too, really fast. I played that one for quite a while...need to get back to it at some point. Sega Rally 2, imo, is really piss poor...I got it when I first got my DC because it was just so cheap. Can't believe how badly they fucked up the control(same goes for Daytona on DC). Metropolis Street Racer - Gag me with a spoon...I hate this fucking game. Had I not of gotten it in a package deal, I would not own it.(if anyone wants to trade me something for it, PM me PLEASE!) MagForce Racing: Kind of WipeOut-ish...and that's a good thing. Haven't put a whole lot of time into this one, but from what I have put in, I like it. Looney Toons Space Race is another cartoony racer, with weapons, that's pretty good. I don't like how you can fly off the road in most tracks, but past that I like it. Hydro Thunder - Classic, arcade-style racing. God I love this game. I bought this *before* I even had a DC(played it on Gen's DC). Demolition Racer - No Exit is another one of those sleeper games that just rocks to no end. I can't even begin to fathom the amount of times Gen and I have played co-op on this one. It is just beyond ultra-hip! 4X4 Evolution - I'd like to say this is a toned down port of the Mac/PC version of the game...but fuck, go look at that Mac/PC version and it looks *exactly* the same...yes, it really looks this sad. It's slow, the environments are boring, the cars are beyond lame(a Ford truck!? Sign me up!!!!). 4 Wheel Thunder - Another in the "Thunder" series from Midway. Imagine SF Rush, but with trucks....really fucking fast trucks. I like it, though the AI is a bit punishing... Bel |

Yeah WDWQMRT is an awesome game - it's a shame it chunks up so badly in four player mode. |

Sega -Dreamcast -Racing!!? Looks like I joined the right forum.
:) Favourite DC racers- Testdrive V-Rally, lots of tracks and beating my Corrolla into a dented can is satisfying. Sega Rally 2, I liked the analog controls (had to rekey my gas and brakes tho') It doesn't WOW you like the Saturn version but it is fun. Le Mans Racing, this is most certainly NOT a Bleemed up port. It looks awesome. The game is a little sim for my tastes but you can turn on assistance and then powerslide and be silly. Good sensation of speed. Almost feels as fast as Sega Touring Car Championship on Saturn. |

Eh, I liked sega rally 2, though I never played the original. Only other ones I have are demolition racer, which is awesome, and spirit of speed 1937 which feels like a really horrible generic genesis racing game with graphics that aren't much better. |

Once you play SR1 on the Saturn, you'll understand about SR2. It's not that it's terrible on its own, it's just that its terrible compared to SR1.
:( I've always wanted to see SoS, and Vanishing Point...even if I don't think I'd like them. With the DC library not being too-overly huge...I wouldn't mind actually getting every single US game released. As for the Japanese and Euro market, I'll still pick and choose with those. I wonder who many DC games were actually put out in the US? Bel |
