Gonna take you for a ride
Some guy and a portly orange tabby suggested Airbuster for Sega Genny
was worth getting. So on my last visit to EB Games I bought it, minus the
instructions and cool glove, sniff :(
Holy frick! That is one busy game. I usually prefer vertical shoot em ups
but this is darn cool. The inertia system is quite unique (ie. push forward
and you drift forward until you redirect the plane) The bomb system could
have more pizzaz but knocking down all incoming fire is OK too.
Easily as fun Android Assault for SCD.

I think I still like FireShark and Raiden TRAD more but Airbuster is a keeper.
Might be time to get a Game Genie tho'
Thanks!

Portly!? PORTLY!?!? I'm just very fluffy, dammit!

Anyway, on AirBuster, I think this was a review that Bel had written way before WAG even exisited, or a general concept was born for it. It was just a bunch of text in SimpleText(which explains why its so short, not to mention, kinda crappy. Yeah, I said it!).

Meow.

First off: *Wow*, you actually have an EB Games that still sells Genesis stuff? You lucky bastard! ;) Don't worry too much about the glove, I'm pretty sure you have to send off for it...but I could be mistaken(it may have very well been packaged with the game)...so virtually noone has it(kind of like that "The Immortal" hint book I've got).

I found it pretty interesting on those few levels where the inertia played a small part in controlling your ship...it was just such a new idea at the time, very hip. I agree about the bomb effect..it was just sort of a flash of light, nothing too exciting.

I really dig Raiden, want to pick up that dual-pack for the PSX(that came out around its launch) that includes Raiden and Raiden II. BTW, I think this is the game that made it so Midway couldn't spell Rayden's name "Raiden" in the arcades. I prefer the "Ray" spelling myself...

Finally, *do* get out and get yourself a Game Genie! It is every Genesis owner's best friend...and I personally couldn't live without it. Try to get one that, at least, has one of the books full of codes...but if you can't manage to find one, every "official" Galoob code(up to a point) is included over at the Game Genie Code Creator's Club. Stuff like user-made codes aren't shown there, nor some of the later codes that Galoob would post in GamePro magazine... :(
