re- Destruction Derby 64-n64, a gift for a friend. I have it already and it is pretty good. - DD on the PSX is already pretty good...always thought that the N64 would be pretty smooth, and somewhat prettier. Is it? Not really. It is a good pick up and play title and it has some features from Demolition Racer like place plus damage and kills equals score. That said the car models look smallish and the play isn't very deep. It isn't bad but there are a lot of better choices now. I'm sure the second grader who will end up with it will be happy but you should play Crash N Burn instead :) Haven't got around to the Thunder Tank game yet. Darkwatch is consuming my game time. Die Zombie Gunmen die! |

Another small score: Sacrifice(PC) - $0.99, used. Always looked interesting... Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter(PC) - $2.99, used. Looked great on Xbox, should be great(er) here on the PC. Bel |

Another small score: PSX: Bug Riders - $2.99, complete. Always wanted to try this one out...looks interesting. Jet Moto - $1.99, complete. The original, by SingleTrac...always kind of liked it. They had the entire JM series for less than $3 a piece. Was almost tempted to pick up JM2...but it was caseless(and no manual)... Bel |

Went ahead and picked up Shadow of the Colossusthis weekend for playstation 2. The graphics look pretty decent but the frame rate sucks. Not sure if I'm going to keep it, just wondering if anyone else has played it yet. Kitty |

It definitely does look good. They used a lot of special effects and whatnot to squeeze every bit of juice they could out of the graphics...but it ends up pushing the PS2 too far, resulting in that really low framerate. If you could get used to that though, the game looks fun enough.

I selling off a couple of older PC's that I was having problems with and buying a cheap GQ box. AMD Sempron 2800+ 256 MB ram 40 GB HD DVD/CD-RW combo drive Windows XP Home. The pc was only $250. I wound up buying some parts to upgrade it so that I can hopefully run Oblivion. I upgraded the CPU to a Athlon 64 3200+, and put in two 1 GB sticks of pc3200, upgraded the power supply with a bigger one I had lying around, and put in my Geforce 6800 GT OC 256 MB AGP card that I had left over from one of my old machines. I picked up a copy of Oblivion for 37.99 at fry's yesterday, it's not the collector's edition, but it came with only one DVD install disk instead of a bunch of CD's |

That's great...I thought the only alternative to the CE DVD edition was a multi-CD install. I think game publishers are finally coming around to the fact that anyone with an even remotely decent PC has a fucking DVD rom in it(and thank God, it's about fucking time).
;) One question: Why 64bit processor? They cost more and it seems like virtually nothing supports them... Bel |

Hmmmm, that's not bad at all...they've really dropped since the last time I had seen anything on them. Speaking of, what the deal with "Hyper Threading"? My P4 chip can do it...but I've yet to ever attempt it. Are there any real improvements, or issues with turning it on? Bel |

Hyperthreading is basically having a virtual cpu, so it's not quite dual core, you have one physical processor and one virtual one. If it wasn't turned on in the BIOS when windows was installed, you wont get the benefit from turning it on. If it was turned on when Windows was installed and you have since turned it off, you could take a performance hit. It really depends more on the applications you are running and whether or not they take advantage of HT or not. Here's a short wiki on the subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthreading |

Man that really sucks dick. I *cannot* believe the made it that way. So, really, you can't turn it on once you've installed Windows!? Jesus...it's almost like they set this thing up to fail... Bel |

A few games this weekend... PC: Tron 2.0 - $5.00, new. Always thought this looked so fucking cool Men of Valor - $5.98, used. Thought this was a WW2 game, but it turns out it's a Vietnam game. We'll see how it goes... PSX: A Bug's Life - $3.99, used. Played it a bit on the iMac, I think, it's pretty good. Spyro the Dragon - $1.98. Pretty hip. Xbox: Voodoo Vince - $6.50, new. Heard great stuff about this one back in the day, will be interesting to see how it pans out. Bel |

X-box Gun (14.99!) - Let us know how this one is! I hear that the 360 version isn't that much better *at all*, so I'd rather get it on Xbox right now. Spikeout Street Battle (SEGA) - I hear good things from everyone but the reviewers on this one. Tell us what you think once you get a chance. :) Chicago Enforcer ( I hear this is an abomination) - Yeah, me too, but as it is an FPS...I'm interested. Let me know... Unreal 2- The Awakening - Good stuff here, once you get used to how slow your character walks. If you need any help: http://www.whipassgaming.com/PC/unreal2.html - (don't let me catch you chasing Aida around either, she is *MINE*!!!!) R-Racing Revolution (right title? Namco career racer with chick) - Yeah, I hear she's the only redeeming value of the game too. :( Bel |
