Wait, an actual Genesis Mark II!?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SG-1000#SG-1000_Mark_II

If that's right, let me know! I think I may have someone who would kill for it...

I think he means by Mark 2, is that it is a model 2.

That's a damn good deal! I really dig Wonder Boy, though I was stuck on it the last time I had it in(was a couple of hours in).

Last week was vacation and I toted the Box (really not THAT heavy). Packed in a hurry, was staying in the same condo with the lame RF only TV and a DVD player which I couldn't get its composite input to work, so I took the RF converter I bought last year. Bummer #1: Forgot the damn transformer for the RF converter and its 11 pm, oh well, always tommorow.

Go to closest place I could find, being K-Mart, find an RF converter which is thankfully transformer free. Figure I will buy a game or two and get MK: Deception for 20 bucks; I loved MK: Deadly Alliance and played the shit out of it. Just lacked probably a dozen Koffins. Plus, for some reason I got a copy of Namco Museum, which I had before and traded.

The story mode on MKD almost instantly pissed me off. The chain combos I find almost inpossible when they make you switch styles at the end. Grrr. I had skills at this once but obviously they have been lost. This Shinjinku guy is kind of lame too. Maybe I just need to play arcade mode or something. I go into a store a couple of days later and they have the Limited Edition version at the same price which further annoys me. Boo Hiss MK.

Namco Museum, it seems like I have copy of this on every system since it came out. I know I have it on DC and only lack one disc on PSX. Dig Dug rules, I have always loved Galaga, Pac Man & Ms. Pac Man are classics of course but I really think Pole Position and Galaxian have not aged as well. The arranged versions are kind of neat especially Galaga which is almost Galpus like. I do see that they have a new version that has like seven extra games not on this one, some which rock like Rolling Thunder, Bosconian, Dragon Spirit (!) and Xevious (which slowdown absolutely killed on PSX).

I think I will have to trade both for the better packages.

- Man, you and Pleasure Kitty, ya'll are like the only two people I know how say it's not that heavy! ;)

- I actually had to lower myself to AV connections on the Xbox for a while, so I kind of understand your pain.

- MK: D is pretty good. It's too bad that, now, the servers are all pretty much dead. Online Puzzle Kombat rocked to no end. Still, if you're on Live, just let me know, there's about three or four of us who still like to play. :)

The story mode on MKD almost instantly pissed me off. The chain combos I find almost inpossible when they make you switch styles at the end. Grrr.

- Yeah, the style switching can be tough...and I had quite a few fits over those things. The worst are the damn battles where you have to take, like, 3 or 4 guys in a row with *just one life bar*.

I had skills at this once but obviously they have been lost. This Shinjinku guy is kind of lame too. Maybe I just need to play arcade mode or something.

- I find the whole progression of his life interesting, how he runs into virtually every MK character...but yeah, past that, he's not that great. It is kind of fun how he learns one or two moves from most of the MK roster though...

I go into a store a couple of days later and they have the Limited Edition version at the same price which further annoys me. Boo Hiss MK.

- Ah man, yeah that does suck. Though the LE disc doesn't have a whole lot on it, it *does* have MK1, which is excellent(except for that one stage where the music is so low you can't even hear it).

- Hmmmm, so there is a version of Namco Museum that *has* Dragon Spirit and Rolling Thunder? Any idea which one this is?

I think the main thing is you have to hit your trigger to switch, which is pretty damn tough to do. In a combo at least. The last one had some sort of adventure mode where they made you do tough combos and I got pretty good at it. Just need to suffer through it. I don't even know how many times I went through arcade mode and beat that cheap ass Goro for a few damn koins.

I'm about like you, on MK:DA I still have a few koffins left...and I need to keep playing arcade mode. MK:D seems to be a lot more lenient on it due to the multiple game modes. One can rack up quite a few koins playing any given mode quite a bit, or by playing them all just a little.

Oddly enough, after you had originally mentioned it, I was over at the local EB Games and happened across this very collection. It still makes me sick to my stomach that they've only put *14* games, all of which probably total less than 10 megs on a fucking DVD...but if the price ever drops on it, I'll get it.

I remember playing it on NES, it's alright I guess. Break out an emu, head over to EmuAsylum(or someplace) and try it out. :)

Yeah, for the Saturn. I only have one import, Gale Racer -- got it from ben also, and next year I want to tackle the 7 or eight imports I want from the Saturn.

Gale Racer...isn't that Cyber Speedway here in the US? If so, I like it. I wonder though, if the soundtrack is the same as the US version. Ben?

The only thing you have to watch out for with the 4 in 1 are the games that require ram(or rom) carts. Though most will play, some won't with the 4 in 1.

It's the Japanese name of Rad Mobile, a 1990 racing game from Sega.

It had a movable cabinet, and was in the movie Encino Man. Great game. I used slow-ass SSF to play it, and the Saturn port is great!

Did Ben have videos of this one in a past issue of Sega Fans Weekly? I kind of remember something like that.

More stuff!

PAL copies of Phantasy Star 2&3 loose
Alisa Dragon Box and Cart
Kid Chamelion box and cart

The PAL copies will work in a US system, but seeing them on ebay for less than $10 a pop, I said why not?

Alisia Dragoon is damn good, I really had a lot of fun with it.

Kid Chameleon is great...it's just amazingly long, with *no* password or save feature.

As for the PAL copies, as long as they run and display correctly on NTSC sets, more power to you! :)
