Ooh, you're hopes are about the be dashed with this one(don't feel bad, mine were as well when I bought it).

I don't know if part 2 fared any better, but the new one(where you can actually get out of the car) looks alright.

I guess, depending on how much bandwidth and storage you have to burn through, you could attempt a few different things

with segafans, there's always fileplanet.

I really dislike FilePlanet, but in terms of the scope you'd be going to by possibly providing a video for every game and/or a huge one for all of them, it'd probably be your best bet, right above Bittorrent.

I'm going to try to get Gen's camcorder tonight, jack a few Mini DVs from him and record some footage for D-Xhird...

I'm not too fond of fileplanet either - but it's nice to have someone else footing the bandwidth bill - especially if there's a sudden spike in interest for a large file...

Agreed. I still think Bittorrent is a good option as well, as there are people like the guys at Mariposa HD who distribute their stuff exclusively through it, and I've *never* seen faster speeds on it. The only problem is, you'd need a server and some seeders. You've got the server, it'd just be a matter of trying to make it work with Bittorrent. The seeders are always generally flaky, but I think it's because a lot of them are just scared shitless of getting caught while downloading whatever illegal bullshit they are going for at the time. With something completely legal, like Mariposa, or your videos, they may be more inclined to keep seeding the data well after getting it all down.

At any rate, you've got options, so it's all good.

the problem with bittorrent is that it's really only good for "hot" files.

This is something that people will discover over time, and bittorrent just wouldn't work for that I don't think.

Well, I don't know about that...I mean, if you'd of said "it's only really used for hot files", I'd agree. ;) Quite a few people are using the technology to help reduce bandwidth costs though, like Mariposa or The Underdogs. If you've got a constant seeder, things can go really quickly(which is quite a change from the slow-as-fuck rates you see on pretty much any other given torrents). Again, not trying to sway you one way or the other, just presenting options to the wait-in-line-and-we'll-get-it-to-you-as-soon-as-we-get-the-Prey-demo-to-these-8-billion-other-people-based FileFront. ;)

I think even on the older stuff bittorrent is still better, the speeds may not be as fast, but you don't have to worry about not being able to resume a download when your browser crashes.

I guess it depends on what you're downloading. I mean, I haven't had a browser crash in a long, long time. Now, however, I have had downloads just stop. That really pisses me off...and seems to happen quite a bit when getting stuff from 3D Gamers...

I got a 17" LCD monitor to replace my move-damaged VGA one.
I hope it rocks with console games using the XGA box.

I see color. Very happy about that.

My only problem with LCD monitors is the whole "one native res" thing. That just really licks ass, imo.

It's a limitation of the technology. Plus, there's all sorts of tweaking that needs to be done to get some fonts to display correctly, most decent graphics cards have presets that make all the neccessary adjustments though.

Well, I got a couple of new titles:

PS2:
Getaway - Black Monday ($13 used)
I know that alot of people hated the first one and hated this one too but I really liked the first one personally. I thought the story and voice acting was top notch. Really dug the stealth and the vehicle missions also.

GTA - Liberty City Stories ($20 new)
This one was only $20 new so I had to jump on this one. Looks like it will be pretty cool. Might be awhile before I get around to this one.

GC:
Sonic Gems Collection ($20 new)
Compared to the other collections, this one is kind of short on games, 3 games, Sonic CD, Sonic the Fighters and Sonic R, plus 6 Game Gear games. Didn't spend to much time with this one yet was curious about Sonic Fighters so I screwed around with it in a drunken stupor and wasn't too impressed. Have to give it another try.

One awesome tool, and I use it on the Inspiron laptop, is MS's "ClearType Tuner". Works wonders on LCD screens(as that's all it's *supposed* to be used for). 16bitman, check it out:

Really, really makes a difference.

Haver not ever played anything in the Getaway series. I think I passed it over with the True Crimes and Drivers games...

I can't remember if this is the one that has a bunch of other games hidden in it or not. At one point, I think Ben had some info on it. Maybe he'll see this and chime in...

Well, I haven't played True Crimes but I remember that being pretty much being dodged as the first GTA "pretender". I don't know did you like Driver1?

I loved it; Driver 2 could have been really good but it just pushed the PSX too hard, it couldn't take it IMHO.

I actually got the new Driver (4th one I think), I thought I saw that it got a decent review that it was at least better than the third one, Jesus it was bad. Actually traded that one when I bought these. Ugh, stay far away from that one.

Getaway, hmm, I think it would piss you off more than anything. Its mostly driving and I think its pretty simish, the damage is definitely simish more than most sims. Your car will start pulling to the right or left when your tires blow out, engine will start smoking and the car will go slower...to me its realistic but I know some that don't think so. Plus you don't even have a map, you have to watch the turn signals and listen to passengers and stuff.

The on foot stuff tends to be stealthy, you really want to go for a stealth kill when you can. You even get your health back by hiding thats pretty unusual although not the first time done.

Its so cheap <$5, you might take a chance on it...oh, I forgot you don't even have a PS2...hah, c'mon $129 NIB, get w/ the times. ;)

You know, I have never had a GTA (3d style) on anything but the XBox before this. I'm sure it will I just haven't seen anything on a release date and my brother wanted to play it so, what the hell its cheap .

Well, there is Sonic Mega Collection, which came out on GC, then there is SMC Plus which was for XBox and PS2 and those have some extra Game Gear games. I think there maybe an exclusive game (maybe Ristar I think) on the XB version I seem to remember. Eh, Game Gear games on the big screen doesn't really light my fire for some reason, kinda I guess.

I know I'm a sucker for getting stuff I already have but its so much more convenient than dragging the old stuff, controllers, transformers, a/v cords, ugh.

I had Driver, couldn't get past that opening part where you have to cruise around the underground garage, got mad, gave it to Noah. Then, Grim got a free copy where he works, gave it to me. Now I'm stuck in the underground garage again, thinking of putting it on my trades list. God, why does the opening tutorial A) have to be mandatory and B) be so fucking hard? I can't even *play* the game because I can't get past it.

Yeah, I hear this a lot about this one. I think 16bitman had it for a short while as well, sold it just about as quickly as you did.

Ugh, yeah, that doesn't sound like my bag at all. I'm more with the arcade-ish style when it comes to do with anything about driving.

Hehehe, yeah. ;) Speaking of True Crime though, the videos of it look fucking great. If you've got the horsepower, check out the HD trailer for the first TC here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...ntshowcase.aspx

I see it dirt cheap most times, I need to check it out. Not sure if that new TC is supposed to be any good or not.

You'd think it'd be a no-brainer. Bring it to the PC, from there port it to the Xbox...I don't know why they're sitting on this, unless they signed another contract with $ony so that it'd stay exclusive to the PSP/PS2 for a year or whatever. Seems like that bullshit is coming to an end, especially with MS paying off Rockstar for exclusive content for GTA4 on the 360.

Pleasure Kitty has SMC Plus on Xbox, but I've yet to see it actually running. I will say that the reprinted Genesis manuals that make up the Xbox's manual were pretty hip though. I wonder how it'll look in 480p.

GG titles on the TV are ok, it just depends on how they choose to do it. Like, when I used to have the iBook, I would use the an emulator and via AV cables put the GG games on the TV. It wasn't bad as long as you kept them from going full screen. I hear there's an emulator for the DC that does both SMS and GG titles. I'll have to check that out at some point...

Seems like a lot of people are nowadays. I know people who are selling/trading off their older systems because they can play them on emulators via the DC/Xbox or waiting for the stuff to hit the Wii, etc. I guess it's not a bad way to go, I just prefer the original hardware for some reason or another.
