A little more detail on Tourist Trophy...I'll take it back, at first glance it is like Gran Turismo but dig in a little deeper and its quite different besides being on bikes instead of cars. First thing, no money, none. You earn all your bikes except the reward bikes by doing a challenge against the computer who is either on the same bike or a comparible bike. You usually you have 2 or 3 laps to catch the guy and stay in front for 10 seconds, do that and that bike is yours. No upgrades, you can upgrade your muffler but you don't have to buy it. You can modify your riding stance but I'm not messing w/ that sounds too easy to fuck up. Lots less races, I've only been heavily playing this for two days and I'm 16% through. Thats with doing liscences (it has those so that IS the same) and mainly doing challanges for bikes not the races. I don't know how many bikes, its 100 if that, so lots less than GT. Depends alot on the track but I find it more challenging line wise than GT and that right from the get go. GT's learning curve is alot more forgiving, in this you will be flopping off your bike until you respect the turns. I'm hoping this game will at least give me some technique for Moto GP3 on XBox, which last time I tried it I thought I would cry! If you dig sims and especially if you dig sims and bikes, I would recommend it (Tourist Trophy) when it gets down to 20 or 30 bucks though. |

Fuck I hate the MotoGP series. Ever since Gen and I tried out the MotoGP demo that came with the first or second gen Live kits, I have stayed far, far away from it. Gen says that MotoGP whatever is pretty much the same thing, just with better graphics. He says his brother likes to play the demo and drive backwards on the track, crashing into people. ;) Bel |

I had the demo for it like two years ago from the XBox magazine and was like this is kinda hard, you have to use the left and right triggers for the front and rear brake, but man it sure looks great. This might be the best looking XBox game I have ever seen, I'll pick this up when it gets cheaper. But then I bought it and couldn't play 10 minutes of it before becoming enraged. Like I said I hope this lets be able to play it because I was about to trade it. |

Yeah, see how it goes, you never know. That Suzuki Alstare on DC, as well as Ducati World Racing are pretty good if you need a motorbike fix.

WipeOut XL is damn good. It'd be ever better on the Mac, if it just didn't run so unbelievably fast! Bel |

Man, I would love to have Wipeout XL. Thats really tough to find. Wipeout 3 is real nice too, I would love to give that XL a try to compare the two. |

I was kind of disappointed with WO3, seemed like the tracks were super short and there were only 4 of them. XL and the first are the two best, imo. I often times run into XL, oddly enough, I'll pick it up for you the next time I come across it. Bel |

Wow, that would be nice. You know I had that Wipeout Fusion for PS2 but it didn't really float my boat so I traded it. That would be one that of those games that even though I traded it, I would probably get it again. I have never tried that Quantum Redshift for the XBox but that one is supposed to be pretty decent for that space racer type of game. But after that damn F-Zero on the GC, I don't know if anything can beat that, that game is insane! |

I really, really, really dislike Quantum Redshift. They made it out to be this WO-like game that's supposed to be way better...but man, the control licks ass. Completely ruined it for me. Give it a shot though, you never know, you may dig it(and it's like, $5 right now anyway).

Ha, first post on the *thread that will never die* after the weekend. Got paid, traded a bunch of stuff I would never play again (getting better about that). Bought a few at Gamestop too: Choro Q (PS2 - $10 used): This one is pretty cool, a driving RPG. Superdeformed little cars, towns with an overworld, shops, other little cars you can talk too. It has some mini-game modes that look cool but I haven't tried them out yet. I think it was really aimed at kids but that its fun, hopefully the difficulty ramps up a bit. SSX on Tour (PS2 - $18 used) Oddworld: Munch's Oddesey (XBox - $7 used) Top Spin (XBox - $7 used) Metal Slug 4 & 5 (XBox - $18 used): I guess with the Metal Slug Anthology coming out for PS2 and Wii, buying this and Metal Slug 3 for XB kind of hurts. I guess I can say I have all of them except MS2 now. World Championship Poker 2 w/ Howard Whathisface (XBox - $8 used): Just so you can take my fake money on Live Bel ;) King of Fighters Neowave (XBox - $20 new): Man, they really need to work on some new sprites for KoF. Jeez, looks rough. King of Fighters 2002/2003 (XBox - $20 new) Midway Arcade Treasures (XBox - $10 new) |

Yeah, this really is a great thread, I'm glad 16bitman started it up. :)
I think I played a demo of the first one back on the PSX, it was pretty hip.
I never could get into the Oddworld games. People tell me I desperately need to give them another shot...
I've heard this is quite good, almost rivaling Sega's own Tennis 2K series.
Hmmmm, so did MS 1, 2 and X show up on a compilation for Xbox yet?
Cool, I think you'll dig it. I just picked it up for PC, even, so I could play online when I'm stuck at work. ;)
This isn't the 3D one?
Good buy. I still need to go back and get the other KoF's on DC...
Though I got it free with my pre-order of The Suffering, I still bitch about it. The only redeeming value of the entire disc is Smash TV(imo). Bel |

According to this, in Europe it was "Penny Racers", but still Choro Q in the US. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choro_Q_video_games Bel |

Agh, hit the post button before I meant too!
;)
I've been told the same thing. My brother loved the PSX versions, I had seen almost nothing about it before it came out but that OW: Stranger's Wraith is supposed to be super good. Its already like less than $20 and I think it hasn't really been out long.
Oh, I meant that since I have MS 1 for Saturn and MS X for PSX, I kinda have them all since X is pretty much just a slight upgrade of MS 2. I can't imagine they would kick the people that bought MS 3, 4 and 5 for XBox in the nuts by releasing them in one package at the same price right? Since I bought all this crap and was having a good conversation with the person running the register, I figured hey got any goodies, I'll give you a couple of reservations, went ahead and put $5 down on MK:A and that Genesis Collection. Got a Yazuka, Kill all Humans 2 and that Socom 3-1/2 demos. That Yazuka seems pretty cool but like anything else (unless I'm just totally in lust w/ it) I will not pay $50 for it.
That one is KoF: Maximum Impact. I may give it a shot if I find it cheap. Kind of like SF:EX but for KoF or something.
You don't like Joust? Rampart, maybe? Defender? Robotron? If you like Smash TV you must like Robotron. I miss typed though, I traded my PS2 version of MAT3 for the XBox version. I actually think some of the games might be a bit better on the Box. I need to get one of those Sufferings, what would you compare it to gameplay wise. |

Ah, it happens...I doubt any of the three of four regulars will notice. ;)
Is Stranger's Wrath the one where you can play it in third of first person modes?
They may pack them together into a double DVD case, but yeah I can't see them re-releasing it all on one disc or anything like that. Would be nice if we'd see MS1, 2 and X on a disc at some point...along with Neo Geo Battle Coliseum...but I doubt it'll happen.
I refuse to put any sort of deposit down on MK:A due to Midway fucking us Xbox owners so hard on it with the whole "no premium pack for you, you fuckers" thing. I still get it and all...but I may wait until it goes on sale.
Hmmm, interesting. I think I've seen it over where Grim works. I'll take a look at the back of the box next time...
I haven't heard a lot on that front other than the PS2 version has a little bit of slowdown going for it on certain games, at certain times. As for the other games on V1, yeah, I don't much care for any of that stuff(even Robotron).
Um, kind of like the 3rd person Duke titles(Time to Kill, Zero Hour, Land of the Babes) or kind of like TR: Legend. There aren't a whole lot of puzzle, so don't worry about that. Oh, actually, I think the Xbox version of MATv3 has a demo for The Suffering: Ties that Bind on it! Check and see. It's different than part one, and a lot harder, but it was still pretty good. Bel |

We need to beat the record of most people on at the same time, its seven isn't it?
I know that its a shooter so I assumed that it was first person. The game flew under my radar, I may have seen a short preview or two. I guess how OW:MO tanked in comarison to the marketing budget M$ gave it (that was *the* game being pushed when XB launched) may have had something to do with it.
Yeah, that would be nice. What I was really looking forward to was that KoF '94 Re-Bout, saw it on M$ (xbox.com) site and was like whoa haven't heard about that. Evidentally its been cancelled though. :(
Most of it I can take pretty good, then there are those games like Satan's Hollows, or Moon Patrol that just look so ancient.
Oh, that doesn't sound too bad. I would have figured it would have had more of been more of an adventure game than an action game. Hey, speaking of Midway, what did you think of that Area 51 BTW? |

Yeah, it's at 7. It could be broken, we've got the number we need with the regulars and semi-regulars...it'd just be getting them all on at once. The reason it was at 7 was back when MK:D had just come out and I had posted some thoughts here, and then another forum posted a link to that post. So, it was like, me, and then 6 guests. ;)
I wonder if MS had any idea that Halo would have ended up as unbelievably popular as it did. I'd guess they had some idea, as they bought Bungie and had the Mac version scrapped in favor of the Xbox version(for launch).
Wait, 94 Rebout got cancelled? I could have sworn it made it out! Man, that sucks, I really liked KoF 94.
Or fucking Rootbeer Tapper. ;)
Part 1 is more adventure, part 2 is pure action. As for Area 51, I have it on the PC, but I've yet to actually install it. I played the demo and really liked it...then I saw the PC version on clearance over at Target. Bought it for $7, took it home, found out it had StarForce protection on it...quickly put it away never to be seen again. Later on, Midway released an update that took SF protection out of the game...so I've broken it out again, just need to install it. Bel |

I have the PC version of the suffering... I want the second one, but the SF protection scares me. It is slightly glitchy on the PC -- it was a pain for me to get it to run.
:( I want the PC version of Area 51... but my video card can't work with it. :( Hope to get a new video card, and get the game cheap... wonder if EB has any copies.. and if it's cheap? |

I didn't have any issues getting the first one to run, and honestly I thought it may even play better via the mouse/keyboard config...but it really doesn't, imo. Plus, the fact that they took out the auto-aim feature...shit you run out of ammo *every single encounter* because the enemies move so fast. I can only dream of how hard the game would have gotten later one when they're really piling them on you. As for part 2 on the PC, I would avoid it until(or if) they release a patch to remove SF protection. That shit is bad, bad, bad news.
I see new copies of the game for $14.99 most places, so used it'll probably be $7 or something. Bel |
