I use to do this all the time, it got so bad, I wouldn't buy anything without it being on my wanted list which I would carry around with me.

Yeah, there's just no way around it anymore, I'm going to have to print out a list of all of my Genesis stuff and carry it in my wallet or something. I could have sworn I didn't have any of those that I bought.

Super Runabout SF Edition-DC
I was just looking at the Dreamcast game rows and it appeared...
I hope the English makes it more playable. Good find tho'

I think you'll tend to find that playing *any* game in English is a little easier. ;)

I always carry a copy of my want list for any system, UNLESS it is at one of the stores locally because if I was to buy a second copy I wouldn't be out of gas money, and they usually don't have jack shit. I miss the days when $20 bought lots of Genesis games (5 to 6 games)... now everywhere is drying up, or has dried up.

I recall one time when I was at the "Gaming Mecca of NY" (Syracuse) an hour away I thought I left my want list behind, and my mom still had a copy in the car, I was so relieved, but my wallet was a hurting afterwords.

I think my mom always carries a list on her... :)

I'm told Rochester, NY has at least 3 Game Crazes.... Not the shitty ass Game Crazy, but a New York only game store that has a lot of classic games and newer games with awesome staff. They used to do a "3 loose Genesis games for $10" But some loose games, hell most all of them are excluded from that, so I guess the collector bug bit them... but I got some damn good deals. Espically because I don't care about complete Genesis games 98% of the time.

With my massive no. of Genesis games, it's actually easier to just keep an list of what I have rather than what I actually want. There are things I want, that I actually have(like with this last time I bought games) but I haven't gotten a chance to play very much...so I forget I own them. ;)

From what I want, only a few titles are expensive. Everything else can be found on ebay, or online for next to nothing.

I was going to put some $$$ in my paypal this week, and knock a few down as I refilled my checking account, but tommorow I have to mail out 16bitman's games, so he can get them -- I was stuck at my internship all day, and monday was a federal holliday.

I think next week I might look at buying the other two puzzle and action games, on the Saturn and columns arcade collection, and I'll have most all of the Saturn imports I want. Then I'll just want Dead or Alive an

To be honest... the only Saturn imports I want are ports of arcade games. I think Ichident-R is the hardest one on my list. Everything else is always on ebay, either cheap or expensive.

i've seen the ichidant-r pack on ebay quite often... usually pretty cheap too.

Recent acquisitions.... it is official, I have a problem keeping to my game budget, by a lot. Anybody know any help groups for compulsive game buyers who don't play, or even have time to play, games anymore? ;)

>Golden Axe Warrior (Complete, $27.32),

This game is awesome, and I've wanted it forever, I'm glad I bought it at such a good price. From what I can tell, yeah, it's like Zelda in art style, but it's got so much more going for it than just being a "me too" game. I can't wait to play through this one like I did Golvelius a couple of months ago, the SMS was really really good at these types of games.

> Ninja Spirit (Complete $13.65)

See the Turbo-potomus section for my comments on this one, but yeah, it rocks.

>Pit Fighter (Cart Only but free, Genesis), Mortal Kombat (Complete $10) for the >Sega CD, Street Fighter 2 and Out of This World (both cart only) for the SNES >($8.64).

I snagged these today actually, because the guy at Rhino gave me the box and manual for Blood Will Tell after I discovered their only copy was top scratched. I then went to Hastings and bought their CD-only copy to make a complete one. My only real comment here is that Pit Fighter is much better than I remember it, and I'm pleased to add it to my collection. SFII was just good for the price, and Out of This World is just tiding me over until I can snag Heart of the Alien for the Sega CD.

> Transformers and Blood Will Tell for the PS2 (Both complete, $24.82),

These are probably the two best games on the system in the style that I like. I'll be happy with just playing these on the PS2 for a while.

> Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Complete, $8.61) and Big Brain Academy (New, $21.64) > for the Nintendo DS. I also bought a PS2 controller and power cable for my new,
> used PS2 ($24.26) as well as a new five port S-Video/Composite Switcher box
> ($10).

I'm leaving the PS2 hooked up to my office computer's AiW card, and now I have an extra switcher box, so my Dreamcast and Genesis are hooked up in the office along with it. Buffy was just a reaquisition, it's a great action game so I wanted it back. Big Brain Academy is actually for the wife, because I'm trying to get her hooked on games as well. ;)

> Valis II and Gate of Thunder (both Complete US, $80.90) for the PC-Engine DUO

I've already beaten Valis II, it's not very good, especially for the danged price. Gate of Thunder is passable, but I really only got it for Bonk 1+2 and Bomberman. The sad thing there is, I can't play Bomberman multi-player yet because I only have one controller for my multi-tap that will work with it. :(

> Valis III (Complete $13.19) and Beggar Prince (New, $44) to the Genesis section
> in addition to promoting Light Crusader, Space Harrier II and E-Swat to complete
> ($12.48), Aerowings (Complete, gift) and Virtual On Marz (No Instructions, $10.81)
> for the PS2 section of My Library.

Valis III is awesome, I need to go ahead and beat it this week for completeness sake. Beggar Prince is going on the shelf, nobody really seemed interested in the pre-review, and I'm not really interested in playing it any further when I haven't even finished Sword of Vermillion. Aerowings is awesome, I don't know how I wasn't impressed with it back in the day, I must have been playing too much TXR or something. VO Marz appears to suck, standby....

I'll still never forgive myself for not buying this the two or three months I saw it at the local gaming store. They wanted $25 or something for it, and it's definitely worth it. I guess I just wasn't into the PBC/SMS as much back then as I am now.

I've got a MadCatz 4 port AV switchbox and a Pelican 5 port S-Video/AV switch box. Right now I'm just using the Pelican, though I'm sure I'll have to start using both again at some point(moving the Xbox to component and the DC to the HDTV free up two slots).

Well, I graduated, and now I find myself as a TA in the history department of Sam Houston. I'm getting paid quite a bit more than I was working 10 hours a week, that's for certain. To be honest, I had no idea I was spending so much on games, I just wanted to get some stuff going that I had put off for a long time, and it kind of exploded in my face. Fortunately, I actually did have the money, I just probably should have spent it more wisely. ;)

It is! Now that I've played the Lynx and SNES versions, which are a joke, I really appreciate it. I played the hell out of the arcade version back in the day, it used to give me whole arm cramps I was mashing buttons so hard. I should break out the joystick and play this one the same way!

Man, I can't play fighting games with an Xbox or PS2 controller, I'm just too used to the older six button pads. Besides, MK CD isn't actually all that bad in comparison to the Genesis and SNES game. It's not great, sure, but it's not bad either.

Quote:

If I hadn't blown so much cash, I'd be snagging SFII and some avenue 6 pads as we speak. Instead I'm left with playing SF2:SCE on my Genesis and Magic Engine for SF2 CE, and let me tell you, I don't think there's really all that much of a difference. I think that the TG16 game suffers the most in parallax, but only by one layer in some scenes. Aside from that, it's got better digital samples than the Genesis game and much nicer colors. It'd be fun to actually play it on the TV some time.

Quote:

I hear bad things about TF, how is it?

Transformers is the game that pushed the PS2 to the max, it's made by Melbourne House of Le Mans fame. It plays like a first person shooter and a mech game in one. FPS in that it uses Dual Analog, mech in that the bots are somewhat slow to get moving and hard to stop (they slide).

When it came out, I mentioned in the Sony group that I thought it was pretty good evidence that Halo could have been done on the PS2 with this graphics engine (not Halo's mind you). Since then I have noticed the insane amount of aliasing in the game, and I'm pretty sure it's doing the PS2's typical line doubling low res thing to achieve the high polygon counts.

Everything is very well thought out, and the boss fights are epics. There's even a fight against a giant Decepticon which puts Eiji's favorite game to shame. The only thing that people bitch about is that this game is insanely hard, especially in the boss fights. I mean, I don't think that the Dual Shock 2 was made for action games, and aiming precisely is very difficult, but required by this game.

There will be a movie up at the following link within the hour:
http://www.gamepilgrimage.com/Miscmovies/TFPS2001p.avi

I will one day compare this engine with Halo's on my site, if I can ever get caught up on my schoolwork.

It's tough, but yeah it was the first game I bought. I waited and waited for it to come out on the Dreamcast, at least it came out somewhere without downgrade (as was the case with Soul Reaver 2).

Yeah, I already had two 5 port Pelican and one 4 port Gamespot label pelican switcher boxes on my TV set. Now I have three 5 ports on the TV and one on my computer. They're all the same box, so they look really nice stacked next to one another vertically, and I've even made custom labels for the old school stuff so everything's labeled. I think I mentioned elsewhere that I'm obsessive about keeping all of my systems hooked up at all times and easy to access.

Bonk 1+2 and Bomberman (I'm not sure what year, but it runs and looks nicer than Super Bomberman) are on the US release of Gate of Thunder's disk. It's a sweet deal!

Valis I was terrible on the Famicom and whatever else it came out for too, they remade it for the Genesis and then the TG16 CD (best version apparently but Jap only). Syd is actually a goofy remake of Valis II with slightly better level design than the TG16 CD version. The TG16 Valis II sucks, all of the levels have single backgrounds including the foreground, the animation sucks, the attacks suck, the cheap shots suck and the boss fights are lame.

Nope, after I took the time to resolder the battery so I can save, I played it for like 2 hours straight, couldn't put it down. Then I never picked it up again, just like everything else I've been blowing cash on. :(

From what I understand, it was called Valis SD (for super deformed, the "mini" character style it was done it) in Japan.

When it got brought to the US, whoever was in charge of the titles just saw SD and changed it to Syd.

Pretty funny stuff.

I understand Sheath's compulsion to buy games you will never
regularly play. I try to make up for it by shedding junk games
more regularly. It is odd tho' A polished game like LA Rush turns
out to be trash while a rough-cheapo shooter like Classified- The
Sentinel Crisis turns out to be a lot of fun.
