Found a few things this weekend(beyond the 5 or 6 HD DVDs I got at the Frys sale): 1. Crystal's Pony Tales(Genesis) - I know, I know, another damn kids game...but dudes, the graphics in this cart are incredible! Gameplay isn't too bad either... 2. Joe Montana Football(SMS) - Picked it up thinking it might be Sega's "Tecmo Bowl", but sadly I just don't care for it. 3. Code Name: Viper(NES) - Been getting the itch to break out the NES for a while now, may just go for it. This was dirt cheap, and I remember really liking it, very Rolling Thunder-ish. 4. Bookworm Deluxe(PC) - Honestly, I don't like it, but it's the *Deluxe* version that costs $30 or whatever online. Bought it for $1! Will probably give it to my mom or grandma or something. I almost picked up Lord of the Sword(SMS) and Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures(SNES) but passed on them at the last minute. I've been dropping way too much cash lately, need to take a breather and check the bank account. If all is well I'll probably take a day off work and head back out to the mall and pick up those two and some others up... Bel |

I have been, and remain, non-sequitur
|
As I understand it the SMS's "Tecmo Bowl" would be Walter Payton's Football before John Madden. In my experience Great Baseball is the system's best sports game. Lord of the Sword is very possibly an SMS game that you would love. If you can imagine what Symphony of the Night would have been like on an 8-bit system, I think you might have the idea. Alternately, Zelda 2 without the overhead map seems like an adequate description. |

I love Joe Montana Football on the SMS... Far, FAR better than the Genesis games. Bel is your copy complete?! It seems you never find a loose copy for some reason. |

I may have to look into that because JMF on SMS just didn't do it for me.
Oh yeah, no I've played it via emulation and it's definitely on my list of SMS games I'd like to get. I just didn't get it that day because I had already dropped too much care over the last week. I am going to take a few days off later this week, so I'll probably head up there and pick it up(along with Indy). Bel |

Someone else is taking a look at it right now, but if they don't want it, we can work something out. It's complete, and in near-mint condition. Bel |

Oh, I own a copy that's in mint condition too. I find it odd that all US copies are in good condition. Once what was a "rare" game is rather common and cheap to find in decent condition. Go figure. |

Well, its been awhile so I splurged a little bit at the old Wally World Call of Duty:GotY Edition (PC) $10 - this one is cool, I think I will have to try the others on the PC also, because I tried CoD2 on the XB and it didn't do a whole lot for me at the time. Civilization III (PC) $10 - this wouldn't work with Vista at all! Never tried any of the Civ games so I was really looking forward to it too. Mech Assault (XB) $10 - had this before and loved it, maybe I'll finish it this time. GTA: Vice City Stories (PS2) $20 - after finishing Liberty City Stories, I figured I would sink my teeth into this one. I've only done a couple of missions but from what I have, it doesn't seem to be rehashed nearly as bad as LCS was. |

Civ2 Gold was the peak of the series for me, I thought the ones that came after were too complicated. I tend to like my games a little more fast paced though. |

They've got this on clearance over at Target right now, but they want $15 for it. I almost bought it, but I just had too many PC games I haven't even played yet. The demo for CoD was great though, I think you'll like it....just watch out for those fucking tanks! ;)
I never have gotten into the Civ series, but Gen loves them.
I really like the single player game on this one, but I was stuck on a really hard level and just stopped playing. I need to head back and pick it up again.
This, Ghost Rider and LCS would be my first three purchases when I get a PS2. :) Bel |

Hey man, only $10 at Wal-Mart, is worth saving $5 to venture into WM... I have played it a bit on wimpy "greenhorn" difficulty, I really dig it. The aim down the barrel thing, no super fast running or high jumping and the sound is just out of this world.
Ghost Rider...man that one has gotten shit on real hard, not necessaryily because its so terrible but the gameplay is a total rip-off of God of War. That would be a good choice and I'm pretty certain you would dig Resident Evil 4 too. I say a deal at Frys from this Sunday's paper, $129 and a free Gran Turismo 4, I thought that was a pretty good deal. Usually those bundled games are real stinkers. |

I agree. Like I said though, I mainly passed on it because I have way too many unplayed PC games...and man, after all this HD DVD spending, I gotta slow down for a while. ;)
Yeah, the psuedo-realism in it was pretty hip. I liked it most times, but when it comes to explosives, it pisses me off to see just how much damage they do. ;)
Wow, really? I've not played either, so I'm not real sure where the similarities would be.
As much as I hear about it, I really will give it a shot. *Everyone* seems to like it...and that's rare for an RE game.
If I didn't just hate the GT series I might have jumped on that...but it's ok, I'll wait until they're around $50, or something like that, used(should be coming up here pretty soon). Bel |

No doubt, I bad about it...I have been playing Manhunt too...ever give that a go?
Yeah, I had a tank eat me up several times, makes sense I guess, it had that auto save thing going on, I didn't find it too bad.
Oh, I *know* you would dig GoW (very violent, cool story, adventure game, etc.), kind of reminds me of Ninja Gaiden but not nearly as cheap, your skills get better and you can take out scrubs where in NG even they would chip away and smoke you. The thing is, that the GoW dude has weapons (blades) that are like blades on the end of chains that you just chop dudes up in all sorts of ways; this is what supposedly Ghost Rider rips off verbatim, although maybe its flames instead of blades or something.
No doubt, I think the old RE style (hoading ammo and running alot) people either loved or hated, RE4 there is plenty of ammo 98% of the time, its just being able to approach things the right way to get through them.
I imagine if you look you could find a used for definitely close to that. Just make *sure* you get a slim do not get the fat version. Those fat ones are terrible. |

I know it, I have no idea what makes the board do that. I wonder if I could send in a bug report and they'd do anything? Bel |

well, it's true. The couple hours I played of it were enough to turn me off to the game. To me it kinda felt like Dragon's Lair with more freedom of movement. Not just the "press a button as it appears on the screen" sequences either. Stuff like jumping out windows or over barriers or whatever by pressing a button and watching an animation instead of more actively doing it just kinda bored me. Everyone else gave it their seal of approval though, so you might like it. |

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. It sounds a lot different from the other RE's, which has my attention just due to that. I am so sick of old school RE games...that bullshit inventory system, the inane puzzles, etc. Bel |

The RE games on the GameCube just were so awful for me, I think I was just over it by the time you go through RE, RE2, RE3, RE:CV and RE:0 that were all so similar gameplay wise. Even the added graphical gloss of the remade RE and the new RE:0 just didn't get it done, just too clunky from a control interface standpoint. Now that I have a DS, I wonder if I should pick up that RE for that though, I might be able to deal with it on there. |

RE games haven't aged too well. I liked RE4 but then I tried to play Code Veronica. I doubt I'll do that again. Horror games in general just don't do have the appeal they used too. I don't have the extended periods of time to immerse myself in them. Playing them in 1 hour bursts dampens the spookiness. |
