1. The bowling is great, ain't it. I had a party that revolved strictly around it. Good times. 2. That's why I didn't even try to be evil. I knew the NPC would bitch about it. 3. LSW: The Complete Saga has a much better racing part. What this game has over some others though is that it has so many game altering extras and cheats that make's me keep coming back to it. Of course, you would have to like the game in the first place. :) 4. Yep, that's the one. HotD on the Wii: cheap, quick and fun. I even got my own mother to enjoy it. (Cue Metal Gear Solid !) 5. It's tolerable to me. I've dealt with worse framerate. |

I tried the demo for SR3 on Gen's 360 one time...wasn't real thrilled. To me, it just seems like they went back to the bullshit "slippery tire syndrome" that ruined part 2 for me. No matter the track, no matter environment, it always seems like you're driving on a heavy sheet of ice that has a thin layer of oil on top of it. Ugh. Bel |

The physics are much better than SR2 on Dreamcast once you play it for a while. It is basically just like SR1 with the addition of more road hazards than before. Like I've said before, the thing that I really love about SRR is the fantastic chaos the game creates when you actually do manage to maintain full speed. It beats cheasy motion blur effects any day. |

I picked up Mass Effect at Fry's for $40 today. It will probably be the only "new" release I pick up this year, unless Fallout 3 comes out in 2008. Last game I bought within a month of when it was released for sale was Oblivion, I wound up having to upgrade most of my PC at the time to be able to play it, and wasn't able to do so until several months after I bought the game, and it kind of soured me on new PC gaming for a long time. Mass Effect should run fine on my stuff now though. |

I picked up Black Hole Assault, Riot Zone, Sim Earth and Fire Pro Wrestling 2nd Bout for the Duo. I'll have all kinds comparison vids up soon if I can get Avid Xpress Pro to work with the .mp4s that Ati's old MMC creates. |

There is talk of a demo, though the fucks at BioWare keep denying it'll ever happen. In this day and age, to not release a demo for a game is just insane. Tell you what, let's even just throw out the game's quality...say it's not an issue, for some reason you just know said game will rock. There's the question of "Will it run on my system?". If for nothing else, this is why demos need to be released. What kills me is that the developers sit there and reply with "If you system meets the requirements, then you can run the game". Bullshit. You know how many games, over the years, I've run in to where I've had more than the requirements and they still ran like ass? Too many. So far there have only been *two* 360 games that I couldn't run on my PC(Blacksite, due to shitty programming, and Assassin's Creed, due to the fact that it requires a dual core machine), so I'd guess that I could run ME...but I'm not dropping $40 to find out. I have played demos in the past that did not accurately reflect system requirements of the game, not all graphics modes were available, etc. I am not able to play the game with all the detail turned up unless i drop down to a widescreen resolution that doesn't look nice due to the fact that it's not my monitor's native resolution (Insert Bel rant about LCD's and lack of commercially available widescreen CRT's here), but I think I've found settings that are a happy medium. I don't know how it compares to playing the game on a 360, but if it's anything like playing KOTOR was on XBox, I'm really not that interested in finding out. I'm pretty sure all of this means I'll probably be buying a new video card when Fallout 3 comes out or waiting a while later until the higher end stuff gets cheaper. Part of the problem may be that I'm running XP 64 bit edition (long story). I got a free ISO for Vista Business through my school, I may try "upgrading" next weekend, or going back to XP 32 bit. Since I started working second shift at work, I have a lot more time up here to do my schoolwork so that I don't have to do it at home, it's left me with a lot of free time at home that I'm not used to having, so I've been doing all sorts of craziness. |

I have never run in to this. I can't imagine that the mid-range graphics setting weren't made available, that just sounds fucked up. I mean, I can understand something like Doom 3 or Quake 4's "Ultra Quality" mode not being available in the demo(it may have been, I don't know, just using it for an example), but anything mid-range needs to be there.
Ha, ha.
Just think, if LCD's had more than one native resolution, you wouldn't have this issue(again, ha, ha). ;)
It looks amazing on the 360, Grimshade showed it to me a few weeks back.
I pretty much feel the same way about DK Forever.
Why? I just gotta know. I mean, you and Wang are my two go-to guys when it comes to computing...so I just don't understand how you had XP 64bit installed. I mean, it's less than worthless.
Don't do it...come on now, you're smarter than this. Halo 2 is a great example of why you shouldn't: It's documented that it runs *30%* faster/better on XP than it does in Vista. Other games have similar results. It's too much overhead...much like OS(u)X. Go back to XP 32bit, I'll bet you anything the game, magically, starts running better.
I guess that explains XP 64bit...but still, come on dude. ;) Grimshade also has a disc for Vista "just in case". I keep asking him "In case of what? In case you want to completely fuck your PC?". Bel |

Short version of the long story was an incident that suggested maybe i should switch all the OS's on my PC's to legit licenses, XP 64 bit was just what I had on hand at the time. |

Oh yeah, that'll do it. I bought XP Home when I got this Dell(P4 3ghz, Hyperthreading) so I haven't had to deal with any of that for a long time now. The laptop came with XP MCE. I think that last time I installed an OS was Windows 2000 on my grandma's PC.

Its much less of a hassle dealing with OS's that aren't pirated, I figure I'll have to support Vista at work sooner or later, so I might as well get used to it at home unless I come across another XP 32 bit license somewhere. |

Riot Zone was $23 shipped, and I got Sim Earth for $17.75 shipped. Black Hole Assault was almost the price of the Sega CD version, but Firepro was $1.75. I didn't know there was a Genesis version of BHA, I knew about Heavy Nova being on CD and cart, but not BHA. How did they handle the cutscenes on the cartridge? I broke 500 games! I now have 501 games total after purchasing Gears of War Collector's Edition and Crimson Sea for $15. Yay! |

I bought the Mortal Kombat Kollection +extra shit for $9.99. (Yeah, I'm talking about Midway Arcade "Treasures" Extended Play. I know earlier I blasted the SNK collection, but I take it all back. Besides the MK games, this collection is just pure trash. If it didn't have a damn-near perfect version of the original Mortal Kombat (it has some audio issues), I would never recomend this. $9.99 is the most anyone should ever pay for this (unless you hate MK, then in that case just ignore this). I also found Guilty Gear Judgement for $12.99. If it was just Judgement that was on here, I would have (generally good) mixed feelings. But since it also came with Guilty Gear X-2 #Reload with everything unlocked, it's excelent. Why did I not get this sooner? |

Picked up Pit Fighter with manual for the Lynx, $10. It's good! The sprites are well animated and take up more of the screen than the Genesis game, plus the sound is better. I'll need to play both through to see which one I like better and which is more like the arcade original (which I truly loved). |

To me, the sprites being seriously toned down in size was the best thing about the Genesis conversion. In the arcade version(or MATv2), you can't see *shit*. If an enemy isn't directly in front of you, it's like he's just disappeared or something. Plus, there's just no room to move around. With the Genesis version, you almost get the *entire* field on screen(scrolling horizontally left or right to show you the missing 30%, when you move that way), so you see all the weapons, all the enemies, everything. That may just be me though, because I know a lot of fans of the arcade version simply didn't like the Genesis version... Bel |

Wow, the Lynx game actually scales the characters. I had heard that the Lynx had scaling capabilities but this is the first I've seen it in action. As for the Genesis version, it's basically a good game it just doesn't replicate the look and feel of the arcade game. I think of it like many other arcade conversions that saw the characters shrunk and sound scaled down. I like them all, but I also like the arcade versions. The Genesis version beats the living hell out of the Snes game at the very least. (edit) I played the Genesis version a little on the Nomad and it plays a ton better than the Lynx version. This is mostly due to the superior design quality of the controller itself, but the animation in the Lynx version isn't as fluid as the Genesis game either. |
