They have one here in Dallas as well, in fact it's where I got the huge amount of games listed above(Post 1306). They are kind of high on some things, and then really reasonable on others. Their trade in values are pretty good though, so remember that(if you've got anything you're selling)...
SMS games? Isn't CT sort of like that one boat game RARE did on the NES?
Good deal, and great game. Kind of tough with two players, unless both have played it before though.
Really high, imo, but at least you've got it now. Still one of my favorite SCD titles. Don't even bother with the Saturn version. They tried to do an FMV/3D hybrid and it was just awful. Bel |

I heard that they have good trade values. I'm going to take some of my duplicates to them this weekend to see what I can get. The other place in town that takes non-mainstream stuff wouldn't even give me a buck a piece. Kings Quest is the SMS version, Cobra Triangle is the NES game you mentioned. I played the heck out of Cobra Triangle sometime in 1990 while I was between Genesis games. It's certainly unique and challenging. In fact I'd say it has many of the same qualities of Enduro Racer while feeling "free roaming" and focusing more on mini-missions instead of racing. King's Quest I played on some old computer version back when it was new, it was good when I was hold up in a different state at a relative's house. Ren and Stimpy I played several times on rental back in the day, there are a lot of technical aspects of this game that I'd like to point out in an article sometime. Mainly ultra clear, and clearly high frequency, PCM samples and tons of background layers with no slowdown here. As for Mansion, I already have the Saturn version, though I played the Sega CD game first back in the day. So far I'm impressed with the color design decisions of the Sega CD version. The Saturn game is basically the same game with floating heads instead of butterflies for the "ghosts". I agree with you that the butterfly approach is much spookier. Aside from that, I think they are both probably either FMV or still frame pictures of CGI. The framerate in the turning scenes for the Sega CD game indicates that it is not FMV but still frame shots of CGI. I'll have to do a full comparison sometime, as this exemplifies what a truely impressive color count and hardware performance difference can do for a game that depends on both. I still question how this was a Genesis exclusive. I guess, maybe, Nintendo thought it was a bit too violent?
Do yourself a favor and play all the way through this one. Along with Toy Story and Batman and Robin, this is one of the most technically impressive games on the system(great game too).
So....very....good.
You lucky bastard. I can't even tell you how long I've been looking for this one.
If your wife still has the gift receipt, take it back...you will NEVER get anywhere without the manual/map(much like ShadowRun).
Gaiares, I believe. Incredibly hard.
Wouldn't mind seeing some pics/video of this one.
No. More like GameCrazy, Game Echange, etc. A chain, but nothing too heavy. Specializes in old school games and hardware(though they do sell current stuff). Bel |

I can't remember how much stuff I bought it, but I got $30-something. Was really thrilled.
Being a RARE title, it's quality is unquestioned. Have you tried Captain Skyhawk?
I'd almost get this, but I'll grab that King's Quest comp on the PC at some point.
It's definitely very impressive. I dig it.
Back in the day, I actually used to get scared playing the SCD version...the heads of the Saturn version(and shitty "floating" polygon pieces) just sort of ruin it for me.
Oh yeah, it's definitely FMV-based, with it freezing the video and/or switching to a bitmap for the static scenes. What kills me about the Saturn version is the way it's still FMV, but then something like just a door will be polygon...and it's a completely different color scheme than everything else. Ugh.
It's possible...though remember, the SCD maxed out on framerate around, what, 20 or 30fps?
This, imo, could be your greatest comparison yet as both games are EXACTLY the same in their movement(with the Saturn version probably having a higher framerate). Bel |

A certain board admin included some goodies in my Saturn Netlink delivery: Cart Only: SMS After Burner (Destroyed label) Genesis: Adventures of Batman & Robin (which I already bought from Ben complete) Last Battle Maximum Carnage (What a brutal turd this one is) Street Smart (I can't believe it, I like it!) Sega CD 32X Complete: Fahrenheit (Makes me want to hook up my X'Eye to see what the SCD version looks like.) It beats a barrel full of Monkey's Pen. |

I really like it...but I'll admit, I feel the SNES version is superior. It's really arcade-y, especially in the AI dept, where they whip your ass to no end. If you hated this one, don't even remotely try out Separation Anxiety...
Old SNK goodness. It's wild, isn't it?
Imagine it running in a smaller window, with the usual SCD grain and you've got it. You can also just tyr booting it up in an emu to see it. I was *really* impressed with how much the 32X improves the video...so much so that when my buddy Wang offered me two or three other 32X CD titles, I took them!
...not by much. ;) Bel |

I actually really want it to be good, but for the life of me I can't tell the difference between this and The Tick on Genesis (which I really don't see as bad). Maximum Carnage has SNES Beat-em Up number of enemies (i.e. 3 or less), generic fights against generic thugs with no difference in backgrounds affecting gameplay, and the brutally hard AI hits that just seem to take away energy no matter what I do. This one clearly was formed around the SNES' action game limitations, as even adding another two or three enemies on screen would have made the game better. I generally like the presentation, but you know me, cut scenes do not make a good beat-em up.
That's right, I played this one back in the day. This came out before SFII, or even Slaughter Sport. This game was actually fairly progressive for its time.
Yeah, just think, if Sega had done it all right, according to critics, the Sega CD would have cost $1000 just so FMV games could have looked this good in 1992. It's amazing what 32,700 extra colors on screen can do for video. Even though I can still see some serious codec issues, this game was way ahead of its time for digital video.
Naw, I appreciate it, really. This is fun stuff and I appreciate the sharing of wealth. |

It's definitely not for everyone, and I'll admit that the second half of the game gets to be really stale...and incredibly hard. How I actually beat it without the GG, back in the day, is beyond me. I was also a big fan of the Maximum Carnage 12-part comic series too...so I know that helped quite a bit in my interest of the game. There was talk of a SCD version, and I'd of bought that just for the redbook soundtrack. Man, the SNES version of the game's soundtrack is just amazing. The Genesis version did a pretty good job of it, imo, but this game really let's the SNES' soundchip shine.
Yeah, I remember playing this one and the always-awesome Fighting Masters before SFII hit. Loved them both back then....still love FM...Street Smart, I could kind of live without, though it is nice for those trips down memory lane. I didn't get a chance to try Slaughter Sport back in the day, but did pick it up years ago...hate it.
I've got Fahrenheit and Supreme Warrior, both of which Wang just gave to me(I had bought Fahrenheit off ebay a few years back, which is the one I sent to you), and the only reason I have them is to see the difference the 32X makes for FMV. I am still blown back...it almost looks better than Saturn video. As all 32X CD games come with their SCD counterparts(I believe), you ought to do a few comparisons. Ought to be pretty easy as you can just let the Attract Mode run to get the exact same video of both versions. You could even hit EmuAsylum and grab the roms so you wouldn't have to dump any money in to it.
Not a big deal, just passing it down the line. :) Bel |

Been playing Bangai-O Spirits for a while now. Nope, I'm still not fond of it. I understand it now, but it's still not that good. It's better than Advance Guardian Heroes though, but Astro Boy and Gunstar Super Heroes still trounce it. I will give Treasure credit for making all of their games that I've played strangely addicting. |

Watchmen: The End is Nigh for $19.99. After realizing that I don't play online that much anyway, I decided to get it. After getting used to the game's pace, I'm having a blast so far with it. I think I'm one of the few people in this world who prefers Nite Owl to Rorsharch. |

I liked it...but it was so buggy. At one point Night Owl just start floating around the floor and then just sort of floated up the stairs, another time he just got stuck behind a door. I still wouldn't mind picking it up, but it'll have to drop to, at least, $15 and a patch better be available. ;) Bel |

Resident Evil 5 for$50+Review After years of dealing with zombie’s, mutants, and many deadly monsters, Chris Redfield has finally reached a breaking point. After losing his partner on his last mission, Chris has started to doubt himself and wonder if it’s even worth fighting last remnants of the Umbrella Corporation. He is joined by House of Renders nominee, Sheva Alomar, an African BSAA agent also tasked with fighting bioterrorism. Together the two go on a mission to finally stop the evil megalomaniac, Albert Wesker once and for all. What’s it about? It’s about taking the successful formula that made Resident Evil 4 Great and bringing it to the X360 and PS3 with excellent Co-Op. In single-play, you will have an A.I. partner that’s a little iffy at first, but will become a very useful ally in the game. Inventory is during real-time in this game, so it can be a little frustrating getting your equipment set up the way you need it to be. Graphics- Amazing! The textures in this game are among the best I’ve seen. The framerate is good for the most part and only hitches in a few places. Sound- In-game, it’s great. It gets the job done and puts you in the atmosphere of the game. Strangely, the cut scenes sound a bit muffled. Control- Ah, the most controversial part of the game. The controls are exactly like RE4’s as Capcom told us they would be during production, and they work well for this game. Its set up that you don’t move and shoot at the same time like the older ones but it feels good after you realize it’s supposed to be this way. I would recommend the A Type setting. A.I.- The enemies react pretty slow like they did in RE4, where they’ll wait a second before inflicting damage. As mentioned before, your partner will be a mixed bag, but after getting a feel for how they work, it shouldn’t be too hard to co-exist with them. Replay Value- There’s actually quite a bit here to do. After beating the game alone or with a friend, you will unlock Mercenaries mode, in which the main objective is to kill as many enemies as you can within a set time limit. It’s a difficult mode to master, but it’s very satisfying when you perform well. You can also unlock infinite ammo for the weapons that you upgrade fully, which makes it much less frustrating to tackle the harder difficulty levels. Tips for better gaming experiences: Go through amateur mode first so that you can beat the game without too much trouble and to unlock infinite ammo for some of your weapons. You should practice first before playing with a partner online so that you both will give bad guys a run for their money and you won’t annoy the person you’re playing with for being inexperienced. Don’t play with a jackass that won’t trade ammo or health with you. If they’re not smart enough to know that you must work together, then they’re not worth playing with. My rating: 8 out of 10. Resident Evil 5 turned out to be a very enjoyable game regardless of the gameplay being stuck in 2005. The Co-Op experience is great and the story wraps up nicely. A few annoying, but effective hitches prevents the game from being a 10, but it won’t prevent blasting the infected horde away with you trusty shotgun. If the demo turned you off, I recommend renting the game first to see if you will like it. Edit: Figured out the rating. Edited by DarcSeven, Mar 18 2009, 01:12 PM.

I still just can't get over the fact that you can't move while you shoot... I don't think I'll ever play through RE5(or RE4, now that I know that it's the same way), it just seems too archaic. I mean, can you think of *any* other game on the current gen systems that does this? Seems like Capcom thinks they can get away with it because A) They're Capcom and B) It's RE. That shit may have worked back in 1997, but it just doesn't cut it here. Then again, the sales for the game are through the roof...so maybe it does. Depressing. Bel |

RE 4 on PS2 is solid title. I prefer the PS2 version because I could AR-MAX myself a lot of ammo to waste those zombie scum. I'll wait for more news on RE5. I think I could live without it tho' My last buy was 50 cent Blood in the Sand of all things. I liked Cold Winter from the same developer. The game is surprising solid. The gunfighting and trash talk are non-stop. The only downsides are the close combat system and the game's length. To get around issue one you just shoot people point blank instead. Issue #2, replay it again with a different AI partner, co-op or on a harder setting. Go get that Skull! |
