i've never bought used stuff from eb... used stuff in general I really like to look at or get a statement about from the seller before i buy. With a huge site like eb, there's no way to really tell what condition a game's in, whether it comes with manual, instruction, etc. at least on ebay, most sellers will answer your questions about that kind of thing. I know EB has their warranty (which their clerks always remind me about whenever I decline a game based on the condition of a disc), but I always say it's better to get a good one from the get go rather than go through the hassle of having to replace a bad one. Anyway, here's what I got from ebay today, all for Dreamcast: FLAWLESS CONDITION: Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing Soul Calibur Worms World Party Conflict Zone TNN Motorsports Hardcore Heat The Grinch Dragon Riders Chronicles of Pern Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear Resident Evil 2 ECW Hardcore Revolution Kiss Psycho Circus Silent Scope Gundam Side Story South Park Chef's Luv Shack Sierra Sports Maximum Pool King of Fighters Evolution Spiderman Test Drive 6 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater NBA 2K2 Tee Off DECENT CONDITION Headhunter (PAL, case is busted :() POOR CONDITION Sports Jam - some discs get professionally resurfaced... my theory is this was professionally scratched. No amateur could scratch it that bad. Star Wars Demolition - see Sports Jam. Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 - no scratches in the disc - just a big ol' crack... All of these are from the same seller... overall I'm pretty pleased with it, but I'm gonna bug him about Sports Jam and Jeremy McGrath... SWD doesn't really matter to me as that was more of an accidental bid (I forgot I already had the game lol). |

Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing - Fucking good, and hugely underrated. Give this one a good, long play through...you'll like it. Dragon Riders Chronicles of Pern - Always wanted to see this one, despite the reviews. Kiss Psycho Circus - Long and boring...though oddly, the PC version is pretty good. I don't know if they just really cut and/or changed a lot of the DC version or what... Silent Scope - Fucking love it....want to get that damn triple pack on the Xbox! King of Fighters Evolution - Best version of KoF *ever*. Sierra Sports Maximum Pool - I can't remember, but I think this is the one you can play against PC players(like 4X4 Evo and Quake III). If so, I have this for PC... Spiderman - Excellent game, and great conversion to the DC. Gen got me the PSX version for my B-day one year, and then later when the DC version came out, oddly enough it was almost a straight trade at EB. Thanks again Gen! Test Drive 6 - Though more of "Bleem" style upgrade, it still plays great. Love the TD series. Headhunter - I really believe this to be *the best* game on the DC. Ordered it the day it wsa released. Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing- I hear this game has brutal crashes. It hurts your racing but a 60' tope suicida at 100 mph should be worth seeing :) PS- I'll report in if I use EB to get Rallisport 2. It's a tough call with CMR 04 being so darn good! |

Your chances of getting a newer game complete is much, much better than any of the older stuff...so you may just be in luck. Also, the crashes in Suzuki *are* rough...makes you cringe a lot of the time...but it's softened by the fact that your guy doesn't flatten out or anything, just stays in his bike riding "pose". ;) Bel |

any cartridge based game you're pretty much guaranteed a cart only copy... but yeah, for newer stuff you might have a chance. |

Yeah, that's definitely true. Though, I will say that if they had something rare enough, I'd settle for cart only.

Isn't it the same game as Redline Racer? On the Dreamcast atleast? Quite franky, I don't care if most cart games I buy are complete or not. For 32bit system and up, then I care. |

I don't know if that's true or not, but damn it looks *exactly* the same...so you're probably right. Wild! Does anyone play, or has anyone played, a game called Lionheart? I've seen it in the stores a few times and as it seems to be a RPG it grabs my interest. Its been out for some time, but nothing has sold me on it yet. I'm looking for something to get into until Oblivion. |

Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader? Yeah, it's another game made by Black Isle, the people that brought us Fallout and Fallout 2. It's basically Fallout in an alternative history alternate Dimension. The gameplay this time around was more like Fallout Tactics/Baldur's Gate like as opposed to turn based like the other Fallout games. I remember it being almost insanely difficult, I got pretty frustrated with the game, it seemed almost impossible to create a character that would live very long. I liked Arcanum a lot better, it was made by Troika, where a lot of the people behind Fallout went to work after their split with Interplay. |

Treats in the mail today. Space Debris for PS1. It is a fun shooter that borrows from Star Fox and about every arcade shooter released since 1980. You have zapper guns (upgradeable), a missile lock system and a smart bomb. Stages so far are semi-rail or "all-range mode" like in Star Fox 64. It is a PAL release only. So my Australian version has a spiffy government rating seal of G8+ and the voice acting of the UK version. Oi!!! Developed by Rage it runs smoothly and threatens to injure my right thumb with all the blasting going on. To save my thumb power for big stuff I find holding the X zapper down and lightly fanning the square missile button with tip of my thumb works quite well. So far I've battled the alien fleet in deep space, on Pluto, on an asteroid base that reminds me of some Bruce Dern sci fi movie I've forgotten the name of and plains of Mars. If I get rolling on this game a review maybe in order. Thanks go out to my UK trading agent and his white guard cats :) |

Today's finds: Midway Arcade Treasures Vol. 3(Xbox) - $4.99(had a $10 GC) Diablo II Collector's Edition(PC) - $12. Was originally $25, but I noticed that the actual games wasn't in the box(just all the extras), so they knocked it down to $12. Nice package. Has the Cinematics DVD, with some nice Diablo II teasers I'd not ever seen before. Has the official soundtrack disc, pretty nice. Then it's got some AD&D stuff that I don't much get, but I love the artwork in it. All in all, very cool. The Operative: Noone Lives Forever(PC) - $4.98. Two disc edition, wiht the music disc. Deus Ex: Limited Edition(PC) - $4.98. Have no idea what makes it "limited", but I'll be looking on Google to find out... Ah, fuck, just found out: It's only the demo of the game! Goddammit, it doesn't say *anything* like that on the packaging. Man, the place I bought it from, I know they won't take it back either...fuck. There's a certain Outhere Brothers(previously thought to of been done by the VengaBoys) song that comes to mind for this situation, in terms of what Eidos just did to me. ;) Bel |

I knew that about Deus Ex, and for some reason I saw something about it not being the full version on the packaging. Know you know why it's called limited. The learning company or something like that would sell demo versions of games for less than full version, and I almost, almost got suckered into buying it. Kind of like shareware back in the day... Poo... |

Maybe it came with another slip cover or something, because this one doesn't say anything about it being only two levels of the games. Looking at some old posts in Google Groups, apparently a lot of people got took by this.
:( Back then though, the "LE" version was *$10*. I'd have been real, real pissed. I made a mistake above, mine was $3.98, but still...$4 for a damn demo disc of a game that's $9.99 and lower new.
:( Ugh. Bel |

Hooray for deceptive marketing... I almost got taken a couple times by the same scam (though on some different games). I saw LIMITED EDITION plastered on the cover and took a look to see what extra features the game had... Thankfully on those cases it spelled it out saying that it contained the first two or three levels of the game. Yes, limited can mean incomplete... but when the majority of "limited edition" games offer content above and beyond what the regular version does, it's really disingenuous to do that. Acceptable words include things like DEMO, or TRIAL VERSION... but Limited Edition is a really underhanded way of doing it. I would write a letter to the publisher expressing your outrage, send them a copy of your receipt and ask for your 4 bucks back. |

Well, it was from Half Price Books...I think they'll take back a damaged piece of software(which is what it will be once I rake it across the cement) so I'll be able to get that $4 back in store credit...which, at HPB can get you up to 4 games!
:) I've gotten quite a few $1.00 clearances games from them(including hard to find stuff like the Quake 1 expansions, etc). It rocks. Bel |

It does say Limited Edition on the case, even makes it seem really special by giving you the "limited edition numbering"(as if they only printed a certain no.). It was just a total hose job by Eidos. I'll pick up GotY ed. for $7 or something next time I see it at EB Games. Bel |

I was going to trade 2 games in and buy ONE. In the end I shopped EB and a pawn shop. I did trade in 2 but got THREE. Doh~! (X-box) Burnout 3 Takedown - clerk approved :) Rallisport Challenge 2- will it be cooler than CMR 04? Robotech Battlecry- Macross fanboy weak moment. Maybe it will be OK. I liked VF-X2 and Macross Plus Game Edition. The reviews suggest otherwise... All used. |
