I ordered a SNES Everdrive from Krikzz ($75). Now to find some craptacular SNES game to gut and tear the label off of for less than $1. This is going to be awesome, now the only games I can't play on real hardware without paying the horribly bloated prices of SNES games are DSP, SA-1 or SFX games. If I can just find the motivation to crank out some comparison videos now...

Also picked up two security screw bits for about $10, so now I can get into any Genesis or SNES hardware/software.

Rock on. The SNES Everdrive, imo, is a better value than the Genesis version just due to how unbelievably expensive SNES games are. I've tried to get back in to owning an actual SNES unit twice now, since selling mine off back in the day to get a Saturn, and the cost of the carts has had me selling the unit off and giving up both times. Now I just go with emulation for SNES...but I could see how owning one cart that could hold all carts would get some people to buy an actual unit again.

Did I hear right, that he's planning one for the N64? If so, how is that coming along? That's one I'd snatch up *immediately* and then sell my entire N64 game catalog(about 24 games).

I would definitely agree on the N64 front, I might even find a place on my cabinet if I could play N64 games (the action/arcade stuff) for what they're worth. It seems as though Nintendo really went all out on the copy protection in the N64 though. The only discussion I have seen on an N64 everdrive is talking about desoldering a chip (CIC) from a real N64 cart and putting it physically on the Everdrive board. Krikzz has already said he cannot possibly provide this chip himself.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty happy about this one. I just landed Heart of the Alien (Complete) for Sega CD for $32.21 shipped. I've wanted this one since way back in the day and this is literally the first time I've seen it for less than $40 anywhere. I will have to use one of Bel's Sega CD cases to replace the broken tabbed one that is on its way, but otherwise this makes me very happy.

Gone hog wild. I ordered Madden '93 (Cart Only, $2.45) for SNES so I can gut it and rip off the label for my SEverdrive. I also bought from the same seller Atari Anthology for Xbox (Complete, $9.99), which I hope includes Combat and Adventure and am glad plays on the 360.

-edit- Wow, Atari Anthology has everything I would ever buy, and I don't need to find a TV with an antennae input! I can't seem to find a setting to play single player in most games though, did I forget to realize that I couldn't play any of these games without two players?

Finally, I snagged Brutal Paws of Fury (Complete, $7.93) for Sega CD. I was looking at the 32X game on the Everdrive and thought I'd see what it cost and the Sega CD game came up on the cheap!

In addition, I picked up NyxQuest on Steam, which is a very clever 2.5D platformer with flying! Argh, I just saw that Sonic 4 is coming out next week.

-edit-

Winter Heat (Complete, Import), Race Driven' (Complete, Import), and Mobile Suit Gundam (Complete, Import) for Saturn. ($14.98, plus $11.00 shipped).

I just got back from my annual visit to Game Factor and subsequent haul. Most of the stuff I wanted was $25 or more, so I picked up Marky Mark (Complete, Cardboard box), Midnight Raiders (Complete) and Microcosm (Complete) for Sega CD and Fighting Vipers (Complete) for Saturn, $37.23.

Haven't done this in a while. I got Flashback for the Genesis complete for $5. Admittedly, I would rather get the Sega CD version, but it's not like I don't own multiple versions of games anyway.

Got Wild Guns and Super Street Fighter II for the SNES via Virtual Console. Wild Guns is actually pretty cool. I definitely have to thank the Happy Video Game Nerd for recommending it. It's hard as fuck, but it's still really cool. I was warned of the difficulty.

It's nice to have a version of Super Street Fighter II that doesn't have the arcade's difficulty, but dear God, it sounds horrendous. I may prefer the SNES version of SFII's music, but I can't go to bat for this. I know why, but I didn't realize the sound quality would be so bad.

I missed this. Wild Guns is probably one of the best SNES games ever made. I want it, badly. Let me know the next time you plan to be in Huntsville and I'll pop out of the shadows to solve this problem. Super Street Fighter 2 on SNES has its ups and downs for sure. I think the SNES version is average at best, along with all of the other versions.

On my side, I just snagged an Atari Jaguar with Doom, Alien versus Predator (both complete) and Tempest 2000 (Cart only) for $155. Expect a bunch of nonsense nobody but me cares about soon.

I'm in Huntsville right now, but I don't have the Wii with me this time. I have Wild Guns through it's online store, not the actual cartridge. It was only $8 for the Wii version vs. $70 for the cartridge.

Doom (Complete, Jpn import) for Saturn $50.30. This version had better run with a lot higher framerate than the US release! Also, I can now make a complete 1990s Doom comparison. I have the Jaguar, 32X, PS1, Saturn, 3DO, SNES, and Dosbox Doom+ 95 versions. This is going to take a lot of effort to make a decent comparison video of less than 10 minutes.

Beyond Good and Evil HD (XBLA) for $10. I'm glad that this game is on XBLA now. This was one of my favorite games of the last gen. I believe it's a true classic.

My Jpn Saturn Doom came in, and holy crap is this game good. It still isn't as smooth as the PS1 version, but it also doesn't have any of those horrible colored lighting or black and white scenes. I can actually play through it without walking against walls for entire portions wondering what direction I'm headed. It seems like a different game than the US release, and the status bar at the bottom is different than the PS1 game. Either way, score!

I also farted around with buying a Jaguar Controller extension cable. Though the controllers cables look like VGA cables they just aren't. I ended up having to buy from Best Electronics, which has a $50 minimum for Paypal orders. But, I ended up with Iron Soldier, Wolfenstein, and Checkered Flag. Total was $69.50.

Once I'm done with the Doom comparison across all 90s platforms I see a lot of potential for an Iron Storm - Metal Head comparison, Checkered Flag - Virtua Racing GEN - Virtua Racing Deluxe comparison, and eventually I will be able to do a cross platform Wolfenstein comparison, with the Jaguar, 3DO, SNES and PC.

RDF Global Conflict for Sega CD complete for $12. It came in today! Wow do the cutscene actors suck up a storm, but at least the game (Scaler Tank Shooter) is good. I might need to read the manual, because it doesn't seem like I have enough ammo to destroy every enemy vehicle/helicopter in the first level.

I wish there were multiple camera views like Abrams M1 had, and I think Thunderstrike's ground texture was nicer. Other than that I am glad to have another scaler game on my Sega CD.

Trudging through Edge/Next Generation magazines to see what "unbiased" really looks like (j/k) I became convinced that Playstation launch games really were all wonderful. So, I picked up Toshinden and Destruction Derby disk only for PS1 ($9.97), and Toshinden URA, Destruction Derby, and Batman Forever (all complete Jpn) for Saturn ($36.36).

Expect Tomb Raider, Toshinden and Destruction Derby comparison videos soon.

-edit-

The Tomb Raider video is finished in my first 720p video ever, but the damn program keeps crashing during the final rendering process. If I can't fix it I will have to start all over.

Either way, Toshinden on Playstation was the first to arrive, and it was complete in the Sega long case version instead of cart only. Cool!

that's the trouble with goozex - it's practically impossible to get any popular games that aren't at least 10 years old.

You can get a crapload of cheap original xbox games though :-D
Electronic Arts - We put the 'suc' in success!

I was assuming that it was because Sonic Allstars was unpopular. I got Forza 3 instantly. Now that I'm out of points though, I doubt I will be using the service again.

Bayonetta and Samurai Shodown Sen on 360 for $20 and Road Rash (Disk Only) for 3DO for $12.

Bayonetta is freaking weird.

-edit-

A very generous fellow over at PCenginefx.com sent me a free "second run" disk for Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire Arcade Card CD. Man, this game is awesome when it isn't $400.
