Wow, been a while in this room. Let's see. Most recently I was given Shining Force CD (Complete, $80) and an Xbox 360 Wireless pad with transforming D-pad, for my birthday, and snagged a second Saturn Twin Stick for $70 off ebay (also paid with birthday money). I also snagged Virtual Hydlide for Saturn for $13 complete last week, and it is MUCH better than the rumors. Super Hydlide on Genesis is likewise awesome and I picked it up late last month, so long as you don't mind it looking worse than a Master System game.

I mentioned RAGE for PC for $10 in another thread. Wipeout Fusion was the only thing I could find complete on Goozex all summer so I snagged it.

I guess the most exciting thing I've done recently is overclocked a Model 1 HDG Genesis with 10Mhz and 12Mhz oscillators. It works freaking great too. I'm pretty sure I can do it for less than $30 in parts, but man it took me the better part of a day to make all of those tiny solder joints and test everything after ever step. Still, once I replace the main overclock switch, which broke while I was tightening it to the case, I'll have the ability to play most Genesis games without any slowdown. Pretty freaking cool.

Oh, and wake up!

Man, I had no idea SF on SCD was worth so much nowadays! It's damn good, for sure! IIRC, it's a remake of the two GG versions of the game, with an extra chapter added in. It's more like SF1, but that's not a bad thing in the least. Though I loved SF2, I did like the straight-to-the-battles, no-fucking-around gameplay of part 1.

How are you liking that transforming D-pad? To me, that thing is a fucking miracle!

I've only ever seen video footage of Virtual Hydlide, but want to burn a copy and try it on my modded Saturn at some point. I have Super Hydlide on Genesis, but haven't put much time in with it so far.

Man, there are so many games I'd love to ask you about on the Genesis, now that you've got it overclocked...but I guess if I had to pick one: How is Double Dragon II? That thing runs slow as fuck on the Genesis, but at a decent rate via emulation(where it's always overclocked, I guess). Not exactly the best port, but I love the soundtrack.

I snapped one of my toggle switches while I was closing up the case on the overclocked Genesis. I've been so annoyed with it I haven't desoldered and resoldered the new switch in yet. This might be proper motivation to get that finished. Basically from what I have seen any game with slowdown at 7.67Mhz has zero slowdown at 12Mhz. I didn't realize Double Dragon II slowed down, I'll check it after I fix the switch.

I still need to fix that danged toggle switch, it would be such a simple process, but my workstation has been filled with broken computers the entire time!

Anyway, I've bought more stuff, most recently Dungeon Explorer for Sega CD, Hang On GP for Saturn and Die By The Sword for PC.

It's a good Christmas for gaming! I received N.A.R.C (Cart Only) for NES, Robocop vs. Terminator, Judge Dredd, Greatest Heavyweights, and Jennifer Capriati Tennis (All Cart Only) for Genesis, Zaxxon Motherbase 2000 (Complete) for 32X, Super Wing Commander (Complete) for 3DO, Wing Commander IV (Complete), Croc The Legend of Gobbos (Complete) and Moto Racer 2 (Complete) for PS1.

Cripes, what am I going to play first?

I got sucked into a buy three get one free deal at Play N Trade today and picked up Robocop (Cart Only) on NES, Omega Boost (Complete), Formula 1 (Complete) and Wing Commander III (Boxed) for PS1, all for $24.18. I actually started just wanting Steep Slope Sliders, Robocop and Omega Boost but then they didn't have the disk for the first and I needed to find two games to get one free. :/

Oh yeah, I snagged Space Harrier (Complete, $9.99) for Master System to replace my boxed copy that I just gave away, Moto Racer (Complete, $7.49) for PS1 and Rampage World Tour (Complete, $20.10) for Saturn.

Alright, time to update. I got so much in the last month or so. Most of these are for PS3 since that's the only system I have here in tech school.
Call of Duty Black Ops 2 (Birthday/X360)-Singleplayer ended up being stupider than usual, multi is fun thanks to bots.
God of War Saga (Birthday/PS3)-Faithful and pretty conversions.
WWE 13 (Christmas/PS3)-A game lucky enough to have no alternative or competition.
Zone of the Enders HD (Christmas/PS3)-A fucking shitty conversion done by the losers at High Voltage. >_<
Assassin's Creed 3 (Came with new PS3)-It's about the same as the others but with trees. I like it. Scott won't. XD
XCom Enemy Unknown ($60/PS3)-It's actually a little intimidating for me. ^_^;
FarCry 3 ($50/PS3)-Actually really excellent so far. Very Surprising for me.
Max Payne 3 ($20/X360)-Satisfying. I have issues with it, but I really enjoy the gunplay.
Borderlands 2 ($60/X360)-Way more frustrating than the first and the new soldier sucks. Thankfully the Gunzerker and Mechromancer pick up the slack. End up being fun in the end, despite cheap deaths.
Serious Sam 3 ($7.50/X360)-It's Serious Sam, but not as colorful. Still fun.
Playstation All-Stars ($20/Vita)-Pretty fun game. Got it cheap. No regrets here.
Just call me Steve. ;)

I've been busy This year even though I shouldn't have been. Let's see what I remember, Enduro Racer (Complete, $11) for Master System, Area 51 (Complete, $11.57), Street Fighter Zero 3 (Complete with Cardboard outer case and PAR 4-in-1, $100), Street Fighter Collection (Complete, $34) for Saturn, Anarchy Reigns (Complete, $17.58), Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed (Steam, $15), and Assassin's Creed I&II for PC for $7 or so.

I landed a Saturn Model 2 for $45 that I plan on putting a mod chip in this month, then I plan on liquidating some Saturn games CiB that I only bought for comparison videos I never made anyway. In addition I was referred to a 3-in-1 Saturn, PS1, N64 Racing wheel with pedals and a stick shift that I picked up for $40.82. Unfortunately the pot for the Gas pedal seems to be messed up, it accelerates when the gas is off and slows down when the gas is pressed and I can't find any way to rewire it that makes it work correctly.

I have some more ill advised additions. I put another $45 towards Project Y even though they have delayed the game and are currently searching for pixel artists. I also picked up Mark of the Ninja ($7.49) and Sonic Generations ($7.49) on Steam, Airforce Delta Storm (Complete, $13.20) for Xbox, Falcom Classics (Complete, $12.00) for Saturn, Primal Rage (Disk Only, $8.99) and Peak Performance (Complete, $6.87) for PS1, and Forgotten Worlds (Complete, $18.80) for PCEngine CD.

I am looking into mod chips for the Saturn and PS1. I have all kinds of tutorials for both now but am just not hitting that sweet spot of confidence that would cause me to buy the Saturn chip in particular, since it costs $30 on its own. The PS1 mod chip I found is only $4 before shipping but will apparently take six weeks to ship from SE Asia. I'm tempted to start trolling Craigslist for neighboring cities and just buy a working and modded PS1 instead.

If you want to buy a modded system, I can get you in contact with the guy I got my modded Saturn from. He was on the forums at one point. He told me he can mod anything, so whatever I needed he could get. I currently have a modded PSX and Saturn...and then a flash cart for the GBA. I'd like to get a hard-modded Xbox(original) from him. To me, it's all abandonware anyway...

I can apparently mod the Xbox very easily myself. The Saturn Mod chip being $30 is the only thing that causes me to hesitate there, if I could get a modded Saturn for ~$50 I would probably just do that instead. Same goes for the PS1 I guess, though I wouldn't really want to pay more than about $30 for that. The Thailand mod chips for PS1 are only around $3, I just would rather have somebody on the line to walk me through it rather than trying to use the diagrams.

So, long story short, the guy who sold you your modded Saturn and PS1s sounds like a good deal to me depending on the price. I also really wouldn't mind getting one of those hard drive mods for the PS2. Not only are those games abandonware but most of they are freaking terrible and I'd rather not spend any money just to record some footage or whatever. Plus getting into the Japanese libraries makes the PS1 and PS2 a lot more interesting than they are in the US. PS1 peripherals and various modes don't work on the PS2 too frequently for me to just want to use the PS2 now.

I'll stick to real hardware whenever possible, but with the PS1 and PS2 I suppose it might be cool to play through some games at higher resolutions or with replaced textures.

Does PCSX2 have any wireframe mode options or polygon counts?

Well, the thing with the Xbox softmod(I'm assuming that's what you're talking about) is that any given amount of stuff can fuck it up. Dashboard updates(via games that have them built in), fucking with the file system, hell even trying to install the official Xbox wireless adapter will do it. Now, what happens to the data...I'm not sure...I assume it's still there, but I have no idea. About the only mod I'd want on an Xbox is a chip mod, so I never have to worry about the bullshit. That may just be me, though...

The thing on cost, when it comes to the Saturn or PSX is that unless you're going to supply the units, it'd most likely be higher than that. I can't remember exactly what I paid for my modded Saturn, but I think it was around $60 or something. I paid much, much less for my modded PSX, but that's just due to the fact that the kids selling it to me had no idea it was a modded PSX(no shit).

I actually bought a PS2 unit that was loaded with the HDD, network adapter, etc and the guy, apparently, had it modded via the HDD...but deleted all that before he sold it to me. I was buying it just to re-sell, and he talked to me about it a little bit. Had he of kept all of that on there, I probably would have kept the console.

I will get the info to you about the guy I bought mine from. Just tell him Bel from WAG Forums sent you, and he'll give you the run down. He may not be willing to ship, but if you work out a deal I can always just pick it up from him and mail it to you.

I really need to bite the bullet and figure out if I'm going to mod my PS1 and spare Model 2 Saturn or ship them to somebody who will do it for me.

Also: Posted Image

A buddy of mine saw this sitting on the freaking curb near his house and traded it to me today. I have no idea what happened to my original but this is freaking awesome. It is complete with the the styrofoam. My buddy got a complete Genesis 1 HDG out of the deal. They also set out a Master System Model 1 in a diaper box. I traded the Genesis launch box for all of the money in my wallet yesterday, $23, and all of the gas in my lawn mower gas can, about $1 worth, and an indefinitely loaned spare NES.

It is a funny story actually, as I was just milling about yesterday afternoon my buddy who, normally lives in Moscow, PMed me and asked if I still had a spare NES cartridge pin replacement. Realizing he was back in town I invited him over. His NES was shot even with the pin replacement. All of the graphics were squished to the left side, the music played but the graphics wouldn't animate past the first screen and were scrunched.

I think I made off pretty well really. The gas was just because his motorcycle ran out of fuel as we were leaving to drop off both his and my NES at his house.

-edit-
Man what the heck happened there that I had a double post within one post?

I feel bad....I sold a Genesis box a long while back on RGA. It was in poor condition, so I didn't think you'd have any interest in it(sorry about that).

About the only box I've had disappear on me is the one for the Power Base Converter. Looking on eBay, it's insane how much that fucking thing goes for...with or without the box. About the only way I'll be able to do it is buy one that has the box and then turn around and sell the unit without the box. I have the manual for it, I clearly remember buying the unit back in the day(bought it and SMS Rastan at the same time)...but just have no idea where the box ran off to.

Yeah, it's crazy how much boxed consoles go for. I couldn't resist recently and sold a Master System 2 I had in box for something like $160 last month. I had been watching for original Genesis 1 boxes for a while and was about resigned to having to snipe one that was pretty seriously damaged or not have it at all. The stupid thing is I don't think I threw my original away, I thought I cut it up and stored it like I did my Sega CD box like the idiot kid I was.
