That's the only damn 3DO emulator I have ever come across. Pisses me off because I can't seem to get a controller to work with it, thus killing any of the fun I may have had with it. Anyone else try this?

I have the same problem, between no controller support and consistent video tearing and lock ups, the emulator is broken. They also discontinued it recently, so it's the first and last 3DO emulator to get anywhere. I'm thinking that it'll only be useful to me in proving that stuff like Starblade isn't rendered in real time.

Maybe at some point down the road you'll get one of those Intel-based Macs, then you can install XP or whatever. Gen's currently attempting that on his Intel-based MacBook. I'm really interested to see how it goes.

It's really sad that they just simply stopped working on it, and noone has shown up to continue on. I am pretty sure Starblade isn't rendered in real time as well. :)

I have gotten Freedo to work fairly reliably over the last day or so. The ISOs on EMUasylum load up fine in the emulator and all you have to do is start the CPU after that. Full screen, good sound and good speed for sampling the games in. I've found a few ISOs that won't boot, but overall it's good. If you really wanted to, you could use a keyboard to controller mapper to get the controls working on a gamepad.

This one works, but I found it very confusing. The pinnacle studio one worked better for Battlefield 2, but the joy2mouse program is probably more than adequate for a digital gamepad.

Thanks man, I'll give it a shot. Man, I hope I can get it working, I'd *love* to play through Killing Time!

Was trying to record the intro for Sewer Shark on the 3DO(I love Ghost), as its quality is the best one can get, but couldn't get it to run in FreeDO. Hit the website and a new version is out...sadly, it *still* doesn't allow for joystick support. :(

Yeah, I'm generally disappointed with compatibility level of emulation on anything other than the 8-bit and 16-bit systems anyway. Having a 3DO is like having an old 486 PC without the excessive install times and command lines. That is to say I like it quite a bit for what it is today. I never would have payed full retail for the thing though, as I've never paid more than $500 for a complete PC anyway.

What model have you got? I used to have the FZ-1... that thing was a TANK. I liked how the controllers each had an extra controller port and you could daisy chain them for multiplayer.

I've got the FZ-1, it really is a very well constructed thing.

For $700 at the time, I would hope it was well constructed! It really is though, would look right at home on a stereo rack with other components.

The original controller was nice in some ways like the super long cable and SNES-ish shape but what was up with only three face buttons for a console that came out at that time? It is also terrible one of the main reasons to play a 3DO in the first place, SF Super Turbo! Impossible to hit directionals for that thing.

The load time on systems with the single speed drives is what kills me...ugh!

Completely ancient necro bump, but has anything came across over the past few years?

I've always wanted to play a handful of 3DO games but I can't justify buying another console and tracking down a controller adapter or dropping the cash on a decent pad. I'd prefer to play on consoles when possible and I know they have a 3DO emulator for Xbox but never bothered to install it. How does it run?

I'm mainly interested in Way of the Warrior and Shadow since I'm a sucker for shitty digitized fighters.

Oh, don't worry about bumping the older topics...we actually like that around here! In terms of the 3DO thing, I'd love to know to, if anyone has messed about with it. Way of the Warrior always looked interesting to me, and I'd still love to play through Killing Time. I haven't heard of Shadow, but may look in to that one. I also wouldn't mind seeing how Samurai Shodown and Super SF2 Turbo panned out. Scott says both are pretty good...
